I had the Summer Special, and Mike had the Plato Soldado. I was able to eat half of the huge taco, and some of the guacamole. It's a LOT of food for me, but it was SO GOOD! I can't wait for the leftovers. Mike's plate was bigger than mine, and he said everything was excellent. I collected my "fajita tax" from his plate and it was excellent. We came in for happy hour and decided to sit at the bar. The happy hour specials were pretty decent--drink deals but no food discounts. The bartender was quick to take our order, which was nice. We enjoyed the complimentary warm, crispy chips along with both red and green salsas. The Rodriguez combination plate was quite a feast, featuring fajita nachos, a chicken enchilada, a chicken taquito, guacamole, sour cream, and queso. Tried this place for lunch one day. I really like how it was decorated with all of the different lantern lights. There is plenty of room. You are offered free chips and salsa... both red and green were good. The margaritas were pretty strong and had good flavor. I had the chicken enchiladas and they were very flavorful and a large portion size. The green sauce that comes on top is good and mixed with like a creama. Service was fast and friendly. Gringos in New Caney is a favorite of ours! They are typically packed out, but in our experience somehow we are always seated quickly. This is just really good traditional Tex-Mex. The queso dip had amazing very good flavor. I wasn't a super fan of the salsa, but it was ok, not very spicy. They also brought out a green sauce that I think was maybe avocado, cilantro cream sauce. The rice is more a cilantro rice rather than the traditional Mexican rice. My husband got a chicken breast with cheese and onions on top and said it was very good. Gringos was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in a long time, and it had nothing to do with the food itself--it was the complete lack of service. From the moment we sat down, our server Nathan made it clear that we were not a priority. There was no greeting, no smile, and no attempt to make us feel welcome. What followed was a frustrating and uncomfortable wait. Our food took an unusually long time to arrive, yet not once did our server check in to update us, apologize, or even acknowledge the delay. We were left sitting there wondering if anyone in the restaurant cared that guests were waiting. When the food finally did show up, it wasn't presented with professionalism. Plates were dropped at the table without a word--no "sorry for the wait," no "is there anything else you need," nothing. Just a silent, dismissive gesture that made it feel like we were an inconvenience. The entire time, the server never circled back to see if we needed refills, condiments, or even to check whether the food was acceptable after being late. It was as if once the plates hit the table, the job was considered done. That is not service--it's neglect. Dining out isn't only about food; it's about hospitality and respect for the guest's time and experience. At Gringos, there was none of that. The staff attitude was rude, the communication nonexistent, and the service so poor it overshadowed everything else. If this is how they treat paying customers, I honestly don't see how they expect anyone to come back. Gringos needs serious attention from management--better training, higher standards, and staff who understand that basic courtesy and communication are not optional. I was a little surprised at gringos. I really thought it was better than what I experienced. The wait staff were great and the atmosphere was cool. The food was ok at best. The tortilla shells are baked. Something that is very different from what I am used to. I had the fajita steak enchiladas. I believe the steak meat was marinated too long. When meat is marinated it changes the texture of the meat. If steak meat is marinated too long the texture becomes chewy which was the texture of their fajita meat. The sides were really tasty (rice and beans). The salsa was tasty as well. I may give it another try in the future. read more

I have been to gringos Mexican kitchen numerous times and this place can be a hit or miss been here during opening week of this restaurant because I have never been to gringo's I must say the food and service was great during my first couple of visits within that month of opening but I now feel the food quality and the service has gone down tremendously. I the last couple of times that I have visited this place and I was celebrating my birthday, the service was a big disappointment waitress was no where to be found the whole time she would randomly pop up, the food I ordered was a big let down what a joke, and my order had come wrong. when I ask get it fixed it took another half hour on top of the long wait on my food. I'm not sure what was going on because this was a weekday and not even dinner yet not many people were dining in so what was the wait for ? what was the mess up on my order? this wasn't the first time this has happened, this also happen during another occasion where we was celebrating a relatives birthday. for the food the only items I like on the menu are the tex mex favs which is the chicken taquitos the chicken is pretty good nice flavor also the south west egg rolls are good for an appetizer, I did enjoy another menu item they no longer have it was a shrimp dish that they removed from the menu which I'm upset about. the chips and salsa is ok could be better. prices are a bit high for small portions I definitely wouldn't recommend this place at all if you enjoy waiting and ok food. read more

The only complaint I have is that our server last weekend disappeared and we were late to our movie down the street at the theater because of this. So I join the wait list here for my son's bday, call ahead and get on the list. I get told when 7 ppl show up from our 11 ppl party we can be seated. Then when we go back and let them know they ask us to wait for 8. Then after that they tell us they sat another party and now we are 1st on the list. Now waiting 30min later seeing ppl getting seated we ask again...then they tell us they can only seat us apart now. Mind you we been here now for over an hr, no point in joining the wait list. They really like their food there cause it is priced higher than anywhere else. They brought the wrong order to our table so they must've taken ours to another one. We did eventually get our order, but it took longer than necessary. The air conditioning is way too cold and the food is average or worse. My wife and I went to the restaurant Friday evening for supper. We had a 45 minute wait time; that happens in the evenings at supper. We patiently waited for our turn. We chatted with other customers coming in. None of the people we chatted with had any prior reservations or on a waitlist. These people were all large parties and some of them were drinking from the bar as well. All of the people we chatted with in the large parties were seated prior to us. When our 45 minutes was up, we inquired to why we were not seated. The gentleman at the desk replied, they were on a waitlist or had reservations ahead of you. I know this was not the case we had spoken to the people. When we furthered our inquiry we were told, "you are just going to have to wait there is nothing we can do to help you". We like the food but this is HORRIBLE customer service. this business will not thrive if left to the hands of people like this. We left the restaurant upon hearing their lack of concern over the situation. When i get bad service or bad food i vote with my wallet. I will not be returning to this establishment given the circumstances. too many other good places to eat with good customer service to put up with this. Sorry Gringo's. read more

Gringo's put me off my meal because it took too long to get our food. When I got my food, it was tepid and not delicious. The waiter was prompt about our drinks and chips, but I had to wait entirely too long for food that should have been piping hot and delicious. The long wait may have been somewhat acceptable if the restaurant had been busy. That restaurant was less than half full. There appeared to be a lot of employees there at the time. Also, the waiter should have, at minimum, apologized for the long wait. He didn't. All in all, it was a terrible experience, and I most likely won't be going back to that location. read more

We are a little loud but after some fire training Isabella helped us recover and refuel while being very cool and patient with us.
