What's not to like about a Tex-Mex place with amazing food and friendly staff? We were driving through after a hospital visit, and Gringo's popped up on my Yelp map. I had the Summer Special, and Mike had the Plato Soldado. I was able to eat half of the huge taco, and some of the guacamole. It's a LOT of food for me, but it was SO GOOD! I can't wait for the leftovers. Mike's plate was bigger than mine, and he said everything was excellent. I collected my "fajita tax" from his plate and it was excellent. We stopped by today for lunch to use our $25 rewards and ended up having a really enjoyable time. We sat at the bar and received great service. We started with a small queso that came with both pickled and sliced fresh jalapeños. For our main, we ordered the fajitas for one, with half beef and half chicken. The beef was incredibly tender, and the chicken was expertly seasoned, with lots of grilled onions, beans, rice, guacamole, pico de gallo, shredded cheese, and warm flour tortillas. It was all perfectly complemented by great margaritas, draft beer, and an endless supply of chips and salsa. Honestly, this meal was a definite winner. We'll definitely be coming back! read more

I thought the restaurant was "No pets allowed" but apparently not...A family walked in with a Great Dane it was very obvious that it was not a service animal and that's the problem. Customers and servers were petting the "working" dog, absolutely disgusting. Plus this "WORKING" dog was sleeping on the floor so alert and ready to preform tasks...Keep your PETS at home or just don't go out!! read more

Quick day trip and my Sis picked this place. It's not authentic Mexican. Definitely tex Mex. It was good. I ordered the Adobada bowl and the meat was fatty and a little tough but good flavor. Overall ok experience. Service was good and the restaurant aesthetic and ambiance were bright and lively! Very nice decor! read more

The lady that checked us in was very nice and told us it would be about a 25 minute wait to be seated. I received a text immediately that I've been checked in. I then received two texts simultaneously about 15 minutes later (5:51pm) that my table was ready. I went to the front at 5:54, and they said they'd been trying to reach me for 20 minutes. Stating that my table was ready then and they cancelled it because I wasn't there within the 20 minutes. Mind you I checked in at 5:36pm so how were you trying to reach me for 20 minutes if it hasn't even been 20 minutes from the moment I first walked through the doors. I showed 3 hostesses proof that I had just received the text. Yet the one who sent the texted stated with an attitude "I texted you 6 times that your table was ready 20 minutes ago."! After showing her the text she proceeds to say "it must've not went through for you" Lady I haven't even been here a full 20 minutes! Maybe y'all should teach your employees to stop trying to argue and apologize when they're wrong. read more

Last time eating at this location! Came in for a Saturday night dinner only to find another patron walking in with a Great Dane dog the size of a horse. Literally! The entire restaurant looked in shock . Mostly everyone shaking their head. I ask the manager since when is that acceptable. He told me, management has set no limits on what they can and can not accept. He said" they can even bring in small service horses if they so choose". Absolutely rediculous!! The owner of the dog has zero respect for others or the restaurant and the establishment follows the same disrespect. read more

Normally my visits at this location iarw awesome but today was horrible. The waiter is rushing and not checking on tables. He gets my order wrong. I have to send back my appetizer for the correct order. I finally get his attention to ask for more chips he never returns with them. My corn tortillas were dried and cracked so I could not use them to roll up my fajitas. No, the place is not busy. They are sitting everyone on one side only so far. I got tired of waiting for service that the next time I saw him I just asked for to go containers. I will come again because the food is delicious and the service is normally great. I will request no male servers in the future to avoid having this server again. Update: the manager came by my table as I was leaving. He asked if everything was okay. I explained why I was leaving with my meal instead of dining in the restaurant. He was so apologetic and said he was wondering why I was not eating. He offered to bring me the items in question but I had already packed my meal and had everything in the bag. He said to give him a minute and then he surprised me with a gift card. The managers are awesome so please go to this restaurant and if you have any issues speak with a manager before packing up your meal and leaving. I changed my review of this visit from a 1 Star to 5 Stars because of the managers. read more

This is going to be a backhanded review. My husband and I tried out a new Mexican restaurant in our area this week. How did it go? We spent the entire time saying things like: "wow, Gringo's salsa is so much better." "Gringo's beans have so much more flavor." Gringo's this and Gringo's that. Since we spent the entire lunch comparing it to Gringo's we decided to spend our money at Gringos the next time. We always leave happy! read more

Tried this place for lunch one day. I really like how it was decorated with all of the different lantern lights. There is plenty of room. You are offered free chips and salsa... both red and green were good. The margaritas were pretty strong and had good flavor. I had the chicken enchiladas and they were very flavorful and a large portion size. The green sauce that comes on top is good and mixed with like a creama. Service was fast and friendly. Overall nice spot. read more

The food was great however, there was a host boy in the restroom vaping, his name tag said Caden; This is kinda gross in a food setting. I know some people who work here and they also state this host is known to make rude and sexual remarks towards coworkers. Other than that, i was served and attended to quickly by the great waiting staff and the ambience once sat was quaint. I hope the managers take the character of who they hire more into consideration. Every worker represents the company, so first impressions weren't great but were save by quality of service and food. read more

Delicious food, but a little overpriced for my dollar, but everything is delicious and a very popular place.

Food was fresh and delicious. Our server (Rebecca) was very attentive and drink refills were done without asking.

Gringos in New Caney is a favorite of ours! They are typically packed out, but in our experience somehow we are always seated quickly. This is just really good traditional Tex-Mex. My husband is OBSESSED with the ribeye tacos and can't seem to order anything else! They are really really good. Always a great experience and prices are very reasonable! Fun family restaurant with a bustling atmosphere. Give them a try! read more

Grey gave my family and I some of the best service I've had here! Food was amazing and the service was even better. Thumbs up

They could really benefit from some guest service training. Four times in a row now I've gone there and received terrible service...

We have eaten twice at Gringo's while we were visiting our children and grandchildren in that area. They have great food and service and a wonderful ambiance. We'll be back. read more

Took forever to get seated, even joining the waitlist (1 hour). The hostesses need to brush up on their customer service training. Both the men's and women's bathrooms were the filthiest we'd ever seen. No paper towels! Finally get seated, and the waiter was a disaster. Drink, entrees, and kids orders were half wrong. We have eaten at this location 20-30 times and have noticed recently that the service and staff are not like they used to be. We travel a far to come to this location because it is our favorite. Please get it back on track! The manager did accommodate us on a few things. The food was still really good when it was done right. read more

This is 100% Tex-Mex We were seating immediately. The service was top notch, never an empty drink or chip basket. The chips were fresh and warm. So good! The tortillas are homemade and tasted great. The queso dip had amazing very good flavor. I wasn't a super fan of the salsa, but it was ok, not very spicy. They also brought out a green sauce that I think was maybe avocado, cilantro cream sauce. The rice is more a cilantro rice rather than the traditional Mexican rice. My husband got a chicken breast with cheese and onions on top and said it was very good. If you like Tex-Mex, this is a pretty good place. read more

Always great food and great drinks. Service is amazing. Staff is very friendly. We eat here easily 3 times a month. You can't go wrong.

Chips and salsa are the best that I've had in the area. Drinks were ok but everything is measured, so don't expect a heavy pour. Food was bland. We had to dump the salsa on to add any flavor. Since it wasn't busy, I expected more. read more

I was a little surprised at gringos. I really thought it was better than what I experienced. The wait staff were great and the atmosphere was cool. The food was ok at best. The tortilla shells are baked. Something that is very different from what I am used to. I had the fajita steak enchiladas. I believe the steak meat was marinated too long. When meat is marinated it changes the texture of the meat. If steak meat is marinated too long the texture becomes chewy which was the texture of their fajita meat. The sides were really tasty (rice and beans). The salsa was tasty as well. I may give it another try in the future. read more

Gringos was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in a long time, and it had nothing to do with the food itself--it was the complete lack of service. From the moment we sat down, our server Nathan made it clear that we were not a priority. There was no greeting, no smile, and no attempt to make us feel welcome. What followed was a frustrating and uncomfortable wait. Our food took an unusually long time to arrive, yet not once did our server check in to update us, apologize, or even acknowledge the delay. We were left sitting there wondering if anyone in the restaurant cared that guests were waiting. When the food finally did show up, it wasn't presented with professionalism. Plates were dropped at the table without a word--no "sorry for the wait," no "is there anything else you need," nothing. Just a silent, dismissive gesture that made it feel like we were an inconvenience. The entire time, the server never circled back to see if we needed refills, condiments, or even to check whether the food was acceptable after being late. It was as if once the plates hit the table, the job was considered done. That is not service--it's neglect. Dining out isn't only about food; it's about hospitality and respect for the guest's time and experience. At Gringos, there was none of that. The staff attitude was rude, the communication nonexistent, and the service so poor it overshadowed everything else. If this is how they treat paying customers, I honestly don't see how they expect anyone to come back. Gringos needs serious attention from management--better training, higher standards, and staff who understand that basic courtesy and communication are not optional. Until then, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who values being treated with respect when they dine out. read more

I have been to gringos Mexican kitchen numerous times and this place can be a hit or miss been here during opening week of this restaurant because I have never been to gringo's I must say the food and service was great during my first couple of visits within that month of opening but I now feel the food quality and the service has gone down tremendously. I the last couple of times that I have visited this place and I was celebrating my birthday, the service was a big disappointment waitress was no where to be found the whole time she would randomly pop up, the food I ordered was a big let down what a joke, and my order had come wrong. when I ask get it fixed it took another half hour on top of the long wait on my food. I'm not sure what was going on because this was a weekday and not even dinner yet not many people were dining in so what was the wait for ? what was the mess up on my order? this wasn't the first time this has happened, this also happen during another occasion where we was celebrating a relatives birthday. for the food the only items I like on the menu are the tex mex favs which is the chicken taquitos the chicken is pretty good nice flavor also the south west egg rolls are good for an appetizer, I did enjoy another menu item they no longer have it was a shrimp dish that they removed from the menu which I'm upset about. the chips and salsa is ok could be better. prices are a bit high for small portions I definitely wouldn't recommend this place at all if you enjoy waiting and ok food. read more
