Don't get me wrong this place is SUPER delish, but sadly I wanted a specific taco and it missed one thing can't really complain but it makes all the difference to me. Drive thru guy was super helpful, so I ordered four tacos of potato and bacon with beans and cheese. I did not receive it correctly. It had eggs in it sadly with no bacon to be found, I'm fine eating them, it's just eggs don't sit well with me, but I can over look it due to me enjoying my breakfast anyways lol.

I had a couple great tacos this past weekend at Freddy's taco shack. I actually accidentally entered this line on the feeder. I had recently right and ended up in line the other morning. I was about to exit the line until I realized if others were bothering to wait for tacos maybe I should too! I got the chorizo egg and the Mexican egg, both fully loaded. I fully enjoyed them both but the chorizo egg was my favorite. They have two salsa offerings - green and red. Ok. So I'm going to start by saying the place is efficient and decently friendly and the food is not bad. My issue is the contents. I do not like the fact that they use bacon bits as bacon. It doesn't even taste like real bacon. I really really want the owner to reach out to me so that I know they actually read these reviews. And I dying mind for paying more for extra toppings, onions should not have a charge. I felt cheated on toppings and I could've gotten cheaper tacos with real toppings. So please please please make those tweaks. Or I'll just go a bit further for the cheaper tacos with real toppings. read more

Love Freddy's! Been coming here for a year. They have some of the best barbacoa tacos that I have found in Porter. They are decently priced and when there isn't a line they are pretty quick, however if there is a line be prepared to wait. The restaurant is small but that's ok, there are a few tables to sit at inside. I recommend the breakfast tacos, pretty much any of them are really good. Oh and the spicy green salsa is on point!! Oh and I can't forget to give some love to the employees, they are so nice! read more

Ever since this place opened the drive-thru line at breakfast extends into the right lane of the 59 feeder. I always drive by and wish I had time to try it. This morning I was working from home and Diana was sleeping in. I ran an errand and skipped the drive-thru line and went in. Their usual egg tacos are scrambled with diced onion, tomato & jalapeño. I'm not a morning salsa guy so they made ours without the diced veggies. Egg. Bacon and cheese. We got them home and they were great. Smaller homemade flour tortillas absolutely stuffed with filling. We thought the tortillas were greasier than we'd prefer. I may need to try again and only skip the jalapeño. I'm a West Texas guy and breakfast burrito drive throughs are everywhere. Somehow this upgrade to breakfast tacos hasn't made it to Houston. I prefer the burrito iteration. Easier to eat, less greasy and room for more variety. read more

If you don't know about this place, you'd likely drive right past it. It gets very busy in the morning, and the line spills out onto the access road...it is, however, worth the wait if you like good breakfast tacos. The tortillas are always fresh and homemade. I especially like the Chicken Tinga and the Al Pastor tacos...full of flavor, authentic flavor, and nice size. Not tiny tacos at all. The prices are unbeatable, and the service is always super friendly and fast. If you try it, you won't be disappointed. read more

In the Kingwood/Porter area there exists the holy trinity of tacos. That's Freddy's Taco Shack, Kingwood Taco Shop, and Kingwood Meat Market. Each is its own manifestation of the goodness that is the breakfast taco. Completely different styles but all incredibly delicious. My favorite varies from time to time, but invariably Freddy's is where I end up most Saturday mornings almost every week for over 5 years now. The ambiance when you walk in envelops your senses and lets you know you've come to the right place for authentic home made tacos. It's small and crowded, a true "hole in the wall" type atmosphere that you want when looking for authenticity. The staff typically headed by Freddy himself is welcoming, efficient and generous. The tacos are always bursting at the seams with deliciousness. The Grant's, Nacho's, and Jason's tacos are among the best. But, don't sleep on the quesadillas. AH-MAY-ZING! No weekend for our family would be complete without breakfast from Freddy's. read more

No for lunch, yes for breakfast. Their breakfast tacos are great, but their fajitas and pastor were really bad. The fajitas were boiled not grilled. Their pastor had an ashen/grey look to them with some kind of tomato sauce on it!! Tasted nothing like any pastor I've ever had. The chicken taco was a boiled chicken with tomato sauce on it. The same meats are offered for all of them, so you basically get to choose your variation of carb :D Didn't realize they had a Taco Tuesday special (specifically the taco trompo is $1 each instead of $2), which wasn't mentioned anywhere in store, until I got the receipt. Only bottled water and drinks available :( Tacos only come with onions and cilantro. If you want cheese or sour cream, it's an extra charge for each. They do have house creamy green and spicy red sauces, but they didn't bring it to our table until I was done with half my tacos. Tacos come with 2 small corn tortillas: - Barbacoa (4.5/5): tender, flavorful -- this one was my favorite. - Chorizo (4/5): nicely cooked, flavorful, but very salty - Lengua (1/5): crunchy and hard, flavorless. More texture than anything. - Tripa (1/5): also not seasoned and not flavorful. Meat wasn't tender either. - Nopales (4/5): cactus grilled tender, wasn't seasoned so it didn't have too much flavor. But it came with grilled jalapeño and onions which were yummy. - Sopes (3/5): my first time having a sopes so not sure how it's supposed to taste like, but the base is made of masa flour and felt like a dense, pasty waffle. It was a on the soggy side and couldn't be picked up. This one came with cheese and sour cream but didn't have much flavor even with the chicken, so we still doused it with the sauces. Didn't see any beans on there. Nice to try but probably wouldn't order again. The service was not unfriendly but poker-faced and to the point. When I asked how the cactus tasted, the staff member could not tell me if it was salty or sweet (fyi, it's a savory dish). The ladies' restroom also had no toilet paper (not even a finished roll). But the tables and overall eating environment was clean and bright. Overall, an okay meal without frills. I would compare it to a food truck but in a nicer environment + nice parking lot. The Lengua and Tripa let me down, but I would return for their Barbacoa!

I had a pretty bad experience at Freddy's Taco Shack. The first issue was the parking lot -- it's very poorly set up and honestly feels dangerous, especially during busy hours. It's hard to get in and out, and you end up waiting in awkward spots that don't feel safe. As for the food, it was just not good. The breakfast tacos were extremely greasy and lacked flavor, which was really disappointing. On top of that, the tortillas kept breaking apart, making it messy and frustrating to even eat. Overall, the experience wasn't worth it at all. Between the unsafe parking situation and the low-quality food, I wouldn't recommend this place. There are definitely better taco spots around that offer much better taste and a more comfortable experience. read more

I just love, love, love Freddy's! The absolute best breakfast tacos you'll ever eat! The tortillas are made fresh and are definitely the star of the show. Add your choice of fixings and homemade salsa, and you've got a party in your mouth! The service is awesome too! Friendly, fast, and always welcoming when you walk through the door.
