A good option to stop by for some non-traditional taco, burrito or bowl. The restaurant is very fun and vibrant. As soon as you walk in you'll see these bright colours, pinata hanging and flamingos in the wall. Each table is also decorated with a video game theme. The food is a good stop for a quick bite but don't expect traditional flavours. They have a fun take on Mexican eats. They also have their own branded hot sauces as well. The really hot one can get pretty spicy but both had a good kick if you can handle your heat.

Fun place! Good tacos! Reasonable prices. Went on Halloween and we got the fish tacos, a kung fu tofu taco and a beany baby taco. Excellent customer service from the awesome waitress with the cute skeleton sweater. We will definitely return.

What a great spot - I can envision sipping cocktails in the summer with the doors open, or inside in winter - very nicely done up by someone with an eye. The tour exceeded our expectations and took us into 2 other spaces not normally accessible including a cask room in the back that can be booked for small to medium sized groups. Our guide was the owner and we are curious science minded people so it was a great match. Jan is an excellent teacher and story-teller. The tasting really educated me but let's not mince words,.. it was also tasty! The final phase of the tour is to show you how to mix gins into cocktails with a little hands on mixology tutorial with batertender Ky. All told several samples, and cocktails were included - all amazing. All of the staff were great. It was just a really enjoyable afternoon and worth of a rare 5 stars! I think this place is a must stop for a day adventure from Vancouver to the Shipyards area. It should also be noted that these guys aren't kidding around: national and international spirit awards across the board with some really quality innovative (but not gimmicky) products here.

I didn't realize the restaurant did sushi platters and oysters - what a pleasant surprise! The oysters were delicious. For the sushi I've definitely had better, but was still impressed that the restaurant had this kind of platter available. Portions were really big and among the dishes, the miso cod was a big standout with great flavour and texture. I also enjoyed the matcha tiramisu dessert as it was not too sweet. The staff were very friendly and attentive to replenishing drinks. I believe some of the drinks were made specifically for the event so I'm not sure if any of the ones I had are on the regular menu. However, the drinks were delicious and the 'Ryujin' especially was my favourite one (the glass with dragonfruit garnished over top!) It was fruity, sweet, and deceivingly tasted like tropical juice. I would like to return to experience the restaurant on its own sometime. In the meantime, it's an excellent spot for private events!

We ordered earlier in the day, and the shucker was clearly alert, taking the extra steps to ensure a clean finish. Truffle fries were indulgent and perfectly crisp, though the garlic aioli was milder than I prefer -- almost like straight mayo without a punch. I skipped the sushi wrap, sticking to my traditionalist ways, but my friend enjoyed it. Brownie bites, complimentary as they were, were a disappointment. Lacking enough fat and possibly stored improperly, they tasted a bit stale -- a shame, because how does a brownie not taste good? Our server was attentive and charming, swooping in at just the right moments for round twos and top-offs, which made the experience that much smoother.

It comes with fries and a custom-labeled ketchup bottle. Very fun. The drink itself encapsulates savoriness in a smooth drink in a tall glass. Getting in is half the fun: order a #7 at the bun entrance, then slip into a super dark, super cool speakeasy that immediately sets the mood. The staff were genuinely friendly and wonderful, and you can tell they actually enjoy working there. That kind of energy rubs off fast. Great drink, great vibe, great time.

We only had to wait about 10 minutes or so before being called in! The speakeasy is very quaint and to theme. I loved the fun menu book which featured lovely art and was very informative in providing details on each cocktail. We ordered the chicken and chive dumplings along with our cocktails. The chicken and chive dumplings were pretty good! I would order them again. The drinks were creative and their flavor profiles were definitely unique. Overall I loved the atmosphere of Laowai, it's very laidback and inventive. The only issue I experienced was with service. It was a bit difficult to flag someone down for questions or to put in orders. So we spend a good few awkward moments just looking around hoping to make eye contact with somebody. Also, our server Leena came to clear our dumpling plate and spilled the sauce all over my husband's jacket. She did apologize and provided us with two shots on the house. However, this was extremely disappointing as we packed lightly for our trip and were visiting from out of the country. We had to ask for wet napkins to try to soak most of the sauce out of the jacket and try to save it. We did still stay since it was already a bit late and I wanted to try more of the menu items. I'd give it a 3.5 star experience.
