They saw me the same day I called and Dr. McKinnis sculpted a beautiful filling on my front tooth (better than the previous). When I returned to Willowbend to get a cleaning and x rays, they asked if I had a hygienist I preferred and I thought no why would that matter. It does. This office told me I had NO cavities, so obviously I was relieved and expected to at least be able to get the routine preventive cleaning that my insurance covers. For context, I had been getting routine cleanings twice a year for 15 YEARS before moving to Texas. I have never had an issue getting my regular preventive cleanings. Instead, I was told this office recommended a different cleaning that I would have to pay out of pocket for. I explained that I wanted the routine cleaning as a preventive measure, especially since I was told I only had the START of gingivitis. When I questioned why I couldn't receive the routine cleaning, the doctor stepped in and said it was a "liability issue" and that he would question another dentist's integrity if they performed the routine cleaning. Honestly, this whole experience left me confused. One dentist told me I needed several fillings and a deep cleaning, this office told me I had no cavities, but then I'm still being told I need to pay out of pocket for a different cleaning because of "liability." I'm not against recommended treatment. I just want to understand WHY it's necessary and what my options are. After 15 years of routine cleanings twice a year, being told I can't have a preventive cleaning because of "liability" was extremely frustrating.

Systematic double-billing and fraudulent financial practices - should I say more?…read more Though you have descent insurance, they will charge you the entire amount of services, claiming that this is the amount that insurance won't cover (100%, really?). Then they bill your insurance for EXACTLY THE SAME AMOUNT and get paid again. They will never tell you that you overpaid, and once you figure it out once your EOB is ready, Kids Dental will a) deny there is an overpayment b) try to keep it and "apply as credit for future services". Ouch! Oh, and good luck getting an office manager to speak with you: she is "so busy, and has to serve thousands of patients across multiple locations". On top of that, if you paid with your FSA card, you now have to go through the repayment process and all other time-consuming stuff. When this happened once, I thought that this was an honest mistake. But it happened again. And again - with a friend of mine. Horrible stuff, stay away - there are plenty of great dental offices in Plano.

But when I heard that he needs some filling I just wanted to take him to a pediatric dentist and get another opinion and if needed to be taken care off at this office as well. The staff was very nice and friendly from scheduling to helping me out filling out each form. Dr Kwon is amazing with children. I have three boys and this is not the first time I am taking one of my child to a dentist. But I have never met a dentist who is patient and also great in explaining each procedure to the children. She even showed a little YouTube clip to my 6 year to ease some fears he might have before sealing some of the molars. And of course she explained everything in detail to me and checked in if I have any questions. After everything was done. The decision to move my little ones to her was easy. Even though we love our family dentist. I feel Dr Kwon will take great care of my children's dental health and I value her professional opinion and appreciate the great care she provided to our son today. 5 stars all the way!

Three out of the four fillings we had done to our child failed within five months of the procedure. Which caused us to have our dentist extract those 3 pediatric teeth. Recently when seeing our primary dentist they informed us that the final filling that was left from the dental work was done improperly and needs to be redone. We called the practice about them examining the tooth and the front desk said they would, but there would be a consult fee for it. We spent approximately $4500 dollars for the work and the anesthesia combined. It's very disappointing they won't check on their own work where they made a flaw without charging a fee. Do not come to this practice. Would give this practice 0 stars if it was an option.
