Loyalty Doesn't Seem to Matter Anymore Disappointing Experience After Years of Trust…read more My children have been patients at this dental office since they were in elementary school, my youngest is now in high school, and my oldest has graduated. We originally came here because of the previous dentist, who was excellent. But since she sold the practice, things have changed significantly, and not for the better. Dr. Nguyen, the current dentist, is polite and professional, but we've never developed the kind of relationship we had before. Despite our long history with this office, it now feels more like a transactional business than a practice that values loyal families. The biggest issue has been orthodontic care. Braces were placed under the previous dentist's management, but maintaining the treatment has been nearly impossible. Dr. Nguyen's ortho schedule is limited , appointments are often 6 weeks out or only available through cancellations. I was never able to secure the "Saturday appointments" their phone staff says exist. Between her availability and my kids' school schedule, we were forced to miss critical maintenance visits not because we didn't try, but because we simply couldn't get in. This led to missing brackets and ongoing ortho issues, and instead of understanding, we're being charged out-of-pocket for every bracket repair even though they know the root of the problem is access. I've called and expressed concern many times, but the front desk staff shows little empathy or willingness to help. They act like they're just reading from a script, with no compassion or effort to find reasonable solutions. Today, I was told my son's remaining ortho balance, originally less than $500, has somehow doubled with no clear explanation. I asked for a breakdown, and again, no one could tell me exactly why. I was simply told to speak with Dr. Nguyen while she was mid-procedure with my child. That's not appropriate or professional. To add insult to injury, I was also told that a basic cleaning would cost nearly $200 out-of-pocket no courtesy discount, no flexibility. This is after years of bringing both of my children here, paying for cleanings, fillings, and full orthodontic care. Nearby dental offices offer cleanings for $50 or free for loyal patients. It's extremely disheartening to feel like loyalty means nothing. This review isn't about a single bad day it's the result of years of slowly declining service, rising out-of-pocket costs, and a lack of patient-centered care. I truly wish things were different, because my family has a long history with this office. But unfortunately, I can't recommend this dental practice to others especially those looking for long-term, compassionate care.

I simply just would like a teeth cleaning as my insurance provides me. I try to manage those expectations when booking my appointment as I know when you go into this practice they press you hard to sell you on anything they can. Today they tried again with charging me above and beyond the cleaning I had asked for. When I stated I didn't want that they refused service so I walked out. Do yourself a favor and when searching for a dentist in Plano, don't let the fancy office fool you. It's fancy for a reason and that being their ability to upsell this service. Stay away!

I came to Willow Bend Dentistry as a new patient after moving to the area, looking to establish…read morecare. The location was convenient and the online reviews seemed promising. I take good care of my teeth, brushing twice daily, flossing occasionally, and having had braces and permanent retainers growing up, I was shocked when I was told I had over 10 cavities during my first visit. That immediately raised a red flag for me. Still, not wanting to start over somewhere new, I agreed to have the three worst cavities filled (despite originally requesting to treat only the one I was most concerned about), along with a routine cleaning. Even with good dental insurance, I paid about $300 out of pocket. Shortly after the visit, I began experiencing pain and sensitivity on the right side of my mouth.... so much so that I couldn't chew on that side. I returned, and the dentist said my bite was too high and shaved the filling down, telling me the pain should resolve within a week. It didn't. I returned a second time and saw a different dentist, who shaved it down again. Weeks went by, the pain continued to worsen, and since I was only chewing on my left side, my jaw became inflamed and my TMJ flared up. Still trying to get answers and some relief, I returned for a third follow-up, this time with the original dentist again. I explained that the previous adjustments hadn't helped, but he insisted the bite was still too high and filed it again. This time, the pain was intense to the point where I was in tears in the chair. I was told numbing wasn't an option because it would interfere with assessing my bite, which made the experience nearly unbearable. I was eventually given nitrous just to get through the procedure which didn't do much but allow me a moment to catch my breath. By the end of that appointment, I was told that if things didn't improve, I'd need to be referred to a root canal specialist. Which is a joke considering I came in originally with perfectly healthy teeth and my cavities aren't nearly deep enough to need one. At this point, I've decided to have my X-rays sent to my previous dentist out of state and will be making the trip home to have this corrected. What began as a simple cleaning turned into months of discomfort, multiple missed hours of work, and new dental issues I didn't have before. I truly wish I had trusted my instincts and sought a second opinion sooner. I went in for a cleaning, left with a dozen alleged cavities, and now may need a root canal??? No.

Systematic double-billing and fraudulent financial practices - should I say more?…read more Though you have descent insurance, they will charge you the entire amount of services, claiming that this is the amount that insurance won't cover (100%, really?). Then they bill your insurance for EXACTLY THE SAME AMOUNT and get paid again. They will never tell you that you overpaid, and once you figure it out once your EOB is ready, Kids Dental will a) deny there is an overpayment b) try to keep it and "apply as credit for future services". Ouch! Oh, and good luck getting an office manager to speak with you: she is "so busy, and has to serve thousands of patients across multiple locations". On top of that, if you paid with your FSA card, you now have to go through the repayment process and all other time-consuming stuff. When this happened once, I thought that this was an honest mistake. But it happened again. And again - with a friend of mine. Horrible stuff, stay away - there are plenty of great dental offices in Plano.

They said she have several cavities. Which was shocking to me since she rarely eat sweets or drink juice, but I figured it was genetics. They wanted us to do fillings for all. We did one for the front but of course it's traumatizing for kids. So we put it off and for the next visit they wanted us to do fillings for the 4 cavities. I trusted my instinct and went for a 2nd opinion. I didn't tell the new dentist anything about my concerns. Low and behold, he said her teeth were fine. I asked if there were any cavities and he said no. Trust you gut and my review!

I have three boys and this is not the first time I am taking one of my child to a dentist. But I have never met a dentist who is patient and also great in explaining each procedure to the children. She even showed a little YouTube clip to my 6 year to ease some fears he might have before sealing some of the molars. And of course she explained everything in detail to me and checked in if I have any questions. After everything was done. The decision to move my little ones to her was easy. Even though we love our family dentist.
