The service was very quick and our server (I forget her name, I think Melanie or something close, sorry!) was wonderful and kind. She got our drink order right away, and the water came out within a minute or two, while our cocktails came out just two or three minutes after. We were given some warm rolls with what I assume was garlic butter. Great start, the butter was super garlicky which I personally loved. The fried mozzarella was the appetizer of choice, and it is wonderful especially for the price ($10)! The outside was crispy like a fritter but the inside had a perfect cheese pull. The drinks were creative, and the right level of strong where it broke up the food nicely. Plus they were super pretty so we had to take a picture of them. We didn't have to wait and search for our server at any point, which is always an A+ in my book. The main food was great, warm, fresh, and we were checked on twice by the food runner and the server, which always makes any meal just that much greater. We got our food almost right after we finished our appetizer, and I truly have zero complaints. The burger was big, and not too greasy, a good bun that doesn't fall apart, and crispy fries with that as well. When we were nearly finished, the manager, I assume the manager, came by and checked on everything, so I know there is a lot of care put into training and maintaining, and you can feel that you are getting more than just a meal, but they make sure that it is an experience. The restaurant was quiet at first, but even as it filled it was still perfect volume, there is beautiful wood beams inside, and a calm and warm lighting. Maybe it was a great day, or better yet, this is just a wonderful restaurant, with an aesthetic setting, great staff, yummy food, and tasty drinks. I WILL be back, if nothing else for the mozzarella, yum.

Not bad, but didn't love them, they were a little overdone and just needed something. The seasoned honey butter didn't help much. The Not Shepherds pie needed some gravy. Solid pieces of roast beef were delicious, there were mashed potatoes (partner said they tasted instant) and they needed gravy. Mashed potatoes are fine, but gravy makes them divine. The Clementine salad was a series of contradictions. Highlight was the oranges, tasted fresh, not canned, were tender tasty with no seeds. Downhill started with the candied almonds. Sliced, toasted with a caramelized sweetness and an off taste. It haunted me and I finally realized the taste was rosemary and it did not marry well. Our server later confirmed it through the chef. The arugula which normally stands up through any dressing was wilted and limp. The goat cheese and pickled onions were nice, but I was suspecting all ingredients for that off taste. I tried the duck taco cause I love chimichuri. It was ok, the duck was tasty, but didn't have the brightness that I expected from the chimichuri. I still have high hopes and will return.

This visit ends that tradition. I ordered a veggie grinder. No tomato, no mayo -- that's it, that was the entire modification. My server, who I want to be very clear was fantastic, confirmed she understood exactly what I wanted since she's vegetarian herself and orders the same thing. What arrived was a bun with cheese, pickles, and peppers. Not a "vegetables" sandwich by any definition. When I pointed out this wasn't even close to what I ordered, my server went back to have it corrected -- a completely reasonable ask for a mistake that was 100% on the kitchen. She came back looking rattled and told me the kitchen had yelled at her and refused to remake it, and that I should just pick something else instead. Let that sink in: the kitchen botched an incredibly basic order, got asked to fix their own mistake, and responded by berating their own server and stonewalling the customer rather than just doing their job. This isn't a case of a complicated substitution or a busy kitchen slammed during a rush. It's putting vegetables on a sandwich. The fact that the staff back there couldn't manage that -- and then had the nerve to act put-upon when asked to correct it -- tells you everything about how that kitchen is run. Whoever is managing that line needs serious retraining, because right now they're making their front-of-house staff absorb the fallout for their own incompetence. The server deserves a raise for keeping her composure under pressure. The kitchen deserves to have their heads examined. After years of celebrating birthdays here, we won't be back -- and I'd think twice before ordering anything that requires the kitchen to follow basic instructions.
