This is a great place to visit even if youre not hungry. There are loads of beautiful plant life in the restaurant, fun vintage items and even some interesting pantry items for sale. I tried the breakfast sammy, apple crisp macchiato and the pecan sticky bun.... All were pretty tasty. The breakfast sandwich was delicious and was nice and hot and flaky! I love it when a vegan/vegetarian restaurant is so good, I do not miss meat. We stopped in for lunch and were very pleased with our decision. We all had the grilled "cheese" with avocado with a side salad and choice of dressing. I put the cheese in quotes because the cheese was a non-dairy product. In the past, I avoided non-dairy cheese because of the lack of flavor and oily tase. This was good. The sandwich was grilled to perfection and the avocado was perfectly ripe and was a great touch of richness to the sandwich. I opted for balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the salad of mixed greens. It was delicious. The service was good, but a bit unconventional. We were greeted and seated and given menus, but had to go to the counter to place our order. Not a really a quibble, just an observation. All the staff were very friendly and informative on the products they serve. Our glasses of flavored water were frequently replenished and our satisfaction with the meal was confirmed. I would definitely make a return visit when back in the area. read more

Good little place, though their customer service could be better. The seitan tacos are really delicious. The salad that comes with it is super fresh and the homemade carrot ginger dressing is good. The staff also comes around and refills either cucumber or orange water, a really nice touch. The only thing I did not care for was the #2 smoothie, something with cherry, cacao nibs and coconut flakes. I've never had to chew a smoothie before, and the ingredients really did not work together as the cacao nibs don't emulsify and are very bitter. I really did not like it. When I mentioned that I did not care for it, they did not offer to change it out, only then told me that cacao nibs don't blend, so I will say I was not happy about that. I don't recommend that choice at all. It's the first time I ever had a smoothie I really didn't like, and that took it from a 5-star rating down to 3 for me. Now instead of remembering delicious food, I remember the bad experience about the smoothie. It's pricey as well. The seitan tacos, 2 smoothies and a bagel came to $40! read more

Drove 45 minutes to try this place FireFly Cafe and Charlotte Coffee Company connected. Had about ten items on their menu. No Mac and cheese left. No egg available. Leaves you with about four options left. One being a bagel with cream cheese, some BBQ wings, a burrito and some muffins. I didn't get anything and just left. Disappointing. What is even the point of this place? I'd call ahead and see if they are actually fully functioning the day you plan on going. It was empty and now I see for good reason. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME I want this place to be good so bad. It's the only vegan/healthy place for miles and it sucks. The first time I went there I was ordering take out as I was working. i was exited that they were actually open as I had been wanting to try their food but their hours were a bit odd and they never seemed to be open when I was able to go. I ended up having to go a serious emergency and I even called to tell them I wouldn't be able to pick up my food for an hour and whoever was on the phone told me to wait a minute and put the cook on the phone. Mind you I'm having a serious medical emergency and was just calling them as a quick courtesy. He then had the audacity to ask me why I wouldn't be able to pick up my food on time. I told them I was having a medical emergency and they scoffed at me. This was bizarre to me. You're welcome for notifying you that I wasn't going to be on time. Anyways, I ended up being able to get my order that day. I had ordered a black bean burger and smoothie. It was subpar as far as vegan food goes. Seriously unremarkable. The smoothie was so chunky it was hard to drink and quite unpleasant. All of this being said, I was willing to give them another chance. I didn't end up going again for a couple months due to their horrible hours and my previous experience. I ended up going in person and was excited to sit down and have a great healthy meal. I thought maybe it would be better if i ate in instead of take out. Well I was wrong. When I walked in whoever was working the counter was not friendly at all. Her energy was very stand offish like she was annoyed customers were there. She asked me to put a mask on which I don't have a problem with but then proceeded to tell me that no dine in was available "due to covid". This is 2023....like really? Anyways when I went to order, I noticed the prices had SIGNIFICANTLY risen to the point where I was limiting myself in what I ordered simply because I couldn't pay so much for just one meal. So upsetting...must be due to covid. Again, my food was unremarkable. Unremarkable, insanely expensive, served with a side of negativity. I came here to feel good and my experiences here are so so disappointing. As the only vegan place for miles, please do better. And if you're considering going here, reconsider. Your money would be better spent at the local kimberton Whole Foods. It's only about a 15 minute drive from here and everybody that works there is so sweet and the food there rocks! Just a superb addition to Boyertown and Berks County in general and very much needed -- my evidence: it was PACKED the entire time were there. We watched people be turned away (oh the sadness on their faces) and felt lucky to have grabbed a spot. It is a small space, and it was lunch hour, so try to visit in an off time. Firefly is all vegetarian, non-GMO, and organic, with about 80% of the menu vegan. They use the incredible, supergourmet artisan nut-based cheese from Miyoko's Kitchen, OMG! I have never seen that anywhere. (It is our mail-order splurge for birthdays and holidays.) Everything is made from scratch, but our wait was short and our food wonderful: berry smoothie, avocado toast, pulled pork sandwich made with BBQ jackfruit, and a spinach salad with aforementioned fancy cheese as well as a wonderful lemon-tahini-miso dressing. We will be back ASAP for the mac & cheese, which is a daily special as well as the panini, I think. Even their table water comes with hints of lemon and cucumber. Breakfast includes tofu scramble, eggless frittata, homemade granola, vegan mini-quiches, and a breakfast burrito. More lunch items: raw kale salad, veggie burger, and a portobello cheese steak. Hearty elegant healthy comfort food done right. Most dishes are around $10 each. Right off the main square in a former jewelry store, Firefly is artful without being hippie, giving off a warm vintage earthy vibe. There is only room for a few tables, but there's also a bar (not the alcoholic kind, not sure if they are BYOB). Best seats are in the windows with the pillows. You can see right into the kitchen. Service was sweet and enthusiastic, despite how incredibly busy they were. Order at the counter, and they bring it to you. Credit cards are accepted of course, and there is free wifi. I predict they will expand quickly. They are not open in the evenings but how I would love that. The demand is great, and all ages of people were packed in the day we were there. Simply a delight. Firefly Cafe fills a void in the surrounding area of my hometown and I just love it. It's perfect! It's an adorable, charming vegetarian cafe with a simple, well curated menu that appeals to just about anyone. And it's in Boyertown, of all places! They're not completely vegan, as dairy cheese is an option, but I didn't see any eggs on the breakfast menu, just tofu scrambles and chickpea flour quiches. Be still my heart! Their non-dairy cheese of choice is Miyoko's, if you can believe it. They really use only the best ingredients. My mom happily accompanied me here for lunch one day, and we got in line to order behind a group of Mennonite women. You're in Pennsylvania now, Dorothy. When it was our turn, my mom was disappointed to hear they were out of the portobello mushroom sandwich, but she was a trooper and tried the veggie burger. I ordered the BBQ jackfruit "pulled pork" sandwich, mainly because I couldn't believe I could order a jackfruit sandwich outside of Philadelphia, but also because it sounded delicious. We were told it'd be at least a half hour wait, so I ordered a matcha latte and my mom ordered one of their create-your-own smoothies, with blueberries, peaches, almond milk, and flaxseeds. We settled into a cute corner and admired the artwork on the walls, the high ceiling, the built-in shelves, and the chef cooking in the kitchen behind a slab of window pane. It's truly a beautiful space. We received our food after only about 20 minutes, so it was an easy wait. My BBQ sandwich was amazing, every element being fresh and homemade. Even more surprising was my side salad. I'm not a salad person at all, but the gorgeous mixed greens with a drizzle of their miso tahini dressing had me eating every last bite. My mom wasn't familiar with miso, or tahini, so she had opted for oil and vinegar, but I ended up sharing my dressing with her, she loved it so much. Way to broaden horizons, Firefly! We agreed the best things about Firefly were the fresh baked rolls (so delicious!) and the miso tahini dressing, while the elements that could use some work were the matcha latte (very watery) and the veggie burger patty (well spiced but dry, falling apart, confirming most people's suspicions about veggie burgers). The pitfalls were minor in comparison to our overall experience, and we'd enthusiastically return. I especially love that I don't have to go into Philadelphia now to have a delicious vegan meal at a restaurant. read more

Holy holy holyyyy. I had heard about this joint from an old coworker about six months ago and kept saying I'd go but never did. I finally went today on a date with a meat eater who was intimidated about vegan food. I had the roasted portobello burger and he had the pulled pork sandwich. We were both totally satisfied. I loved the avocado aioli and the side of greens. He couldn't believe that he wasn't eating pork. He couldn't stop raving about his meal. I've been vegan for only seven months and it has been hard to find places that can cater to my lifestyle but this place is fantastic for both vegans and meat eaters who want to try something different. read more

In my Yelp search I asked for "healthy lunch" and the Firefly Cafe popped up. So glad it did! I would typically look for something quick, healthy, not to expensive, and on the way. This was all of the above. As a typical meat eater with limited vegan specific dining experiences, I would say, I am definitely open to new things and not closed minded. The service was excellent, I sat at the bar, and based on recommendations tried the "pulled pork" and side salad. Almost couldn't tell it wasn't meat !! A pleasant cafe option for the vegetarian/vegan scene in an otherwise quiet but charming town. The menu was homemade, inventive and reasonably priced. They also have their own corner vegan grocer. What would be really neat to see would be maybe a small library or lending library inside your cafe as well. It's a bit of a drive and kind of out of the way from the highway, but It's a delightful scenic drive. Would I return? Yes, just have to pencil in the time. :) read more

I really do love the food at this restaurant but I wanted to leave an honest review about a recent experience that I had. I originally left this review on the business Facebook page but the waitress laughed at it and the owner never responded to my feedback. I grew up in Boyertown and was so excited to see a vegan restaurant open, it was like a dream come true. Such a nice addition to the area. I've eaten here several times and the last time I ate here the waitress, Brianna, waited on me. She gave me a menu and told me I could order at the front. She then went to the table next to me and asked if they wanted any coffee. The couple ordered coffee and she brought it out to them. I then asked Brianna if I could order coffee too since I saw her give this service to my neighboring table. She reluctantly said yes and then brought it out. I was surprised that I had to ask for this when other tables were offered. I was waiting for my friend and once he arrived we looked over the menu and went to the front to order. The system for ordering is very simple and quick which is great. The only downside is that you are asked to give a tip up front which I find odd as usually you tip at the end of your dining experience once you rate the service and food. It is hard to know how much tip you feel the experience is worth before you dine. After our lunch my friend ordered the cheesecake. I asked Brianna what the cheesecake was made of and she replied, "I don't know, it's made with something...I can check," and walked away. I felt she was annoyed with this question, but I have several dietary restrictions and was curious what was in it. My friend ended up getting the cheesecake and we chatted over the rest of our food and coffee. The owner then asked us to vacate the table because other people needed to sit down. I was shocked. I've never been asked to leave a restaurant before. After this experience another friend of mine told me that they too have been asked to vacate this cafe. It's a strange thing to ask of your customers and I hate to say that it left me not wanting to return. As for the waitress, she could've been having a bad day so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt, but overall I was disappointed in the quality of the service. read more

I managed to find this little gem by the magic of Facebook. I honestly never heard of Boyertown prior to. The cafe is small, but with large windows and high ceilings, it's still extremely comfortable. The service is always good, very quick, friendly and I personally love the idea of just paying when you order. Now, let's talk about the food. As someone who has been vegan for quite a few years, I know when something is made well. And every single thing I've had from here is perfectly seasoned and thought it. It's incredible. My favorite item I've had thus far is their sausage, cheese and tofu scram breakfast sandwiches. It's one of the best breakfasts I've ever had hands down. Their hours are limited, but when you're a small staff making everything from scratch, you're sort of forced to be. Warm, quaint cafe at the heart of a cute town. I stopped by today to have lunch with a friend and I can safely say we are going to eat here again. Service was prompt and kind, and the food was delicious. We ordered the tofu scramble and the eggless frittata. I had the frittata and the hot matcha latter and both were very good. My only complaint is the portion size. I get why organic food needs to be a little more pricey but i wasn't full by the end of the meager slice of baked tofu and having paid about $15 for everything kind of blew. Overlooking that, everything else was perfect! The ambiance is very nice and the bathroom was super clean. We finished off our meal with some yummy goji balls. I ate here with my parents and overall a great experience. If this is your first time eating vegan, you can't go in expecting the "pulled pork" to taste exactly like pulled pork. But it's all part of the experience. Overall, this place compares well to a few other vegan restaurants I've ate at in the city. It'd be nice if they got an espresso machine. It's a very relaxing environment and they have a beautiful bar to sit at. My personal favorite is the sriracha baked tofu sandwich, it's exploding with flavor. i choose this sandwich because it is one of few options that aren't imitation which is what i look for in a vegan restaurant. I would be more appreciative if there were options that were only fresh ingredients and not just processed proteins on the menu such as a grain bowl. read more
