On this crisp, sunny Saturday morning we decided to go on a local explore. We had thirst for a craft coffee and small breakfast. So we ventured for the first time to Brakeman's Cafe. A sweet scene across the street from the Colebrookdale Rail, we sat outside and enjoyed the quiet view. My husband ordered an Iced Caramel Fluff Coffee and my being on a chai kick lately, tried their small hot variety. Drinks came out quickly considering the line of patrons ordering and most of the indoor seating full. We sat with our number at a table outside. The brisk air was delightful and even more delightful was the rest of our breakfast. My husband ordered an Everything Bagel Sandwich with Cheddar and Sausage. He enjoyed it, said it needed some spice or sauce though. I was delighted in my pick! An Everything Bagel with the lemon-dill cream cheese. This cream cheese should be sold on its own! I'd purchase (or would love to steal the recipe!). The cream cheese was more a like a dip in consistency. Smooth, flavorful and light. This was inspo for me to try to make later and put on bagels, sandwiches and crackers (still thinking about eating it, lololol). What a wonderful start to the weekend! Coffee and other drinks are pretty good. Outside seating is very nice and the Magnolia tree is gorgeous. Food is very overpriced and not that great. Cucumber "salad" is just pickles in a small cup and sandwiches are trying too hard to be fancy. Spent 30 bucks on two sandwiches, which is a bit steep for a small cafe, in my humble opinion. Would go for the drinks and ambience but skip the food. read more

Great spot to hit up for a coffee and breakfast. We stopped in here while waiting for a train ride and had a great experience. The staff was friendly and the place was packed! We couldn't find a seat and all of the outside seating was wet from the rain, but the owner had walked in and said there were spots on the porch at the house next door so we sat over there and had a nice little private breakfast by the blooming Magnolia. I had an Italian latte with avocado toast, my mother tried the monkey bread and the wife had a bagel with coffee. Everything was fresh and nothing crazy special, although we didn't order anything too exotic. The owner was very nice and recommended other things to do around town, asked if everything was good and interacted with my kids. She seemed very plugged into the community and by watching the traffic come and go from the business you can tell that feeling is reciprocated. It was relaxing to watch the train go by, enjoy some quiet time outside with the company of a gorgeous Magnolia tree. I recommend stopping in here for a bite and a coffee! read more

Brakeman's is a neat little cafe and coffee shop in Boyertown. Located in a beautifully restored building we have stopped in a number of times for coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Each time we have had great service, food, and coffees. Some highlights are the homemade sourdough used for the breakfast sandwiches, the deviled eggs, and the quiche. What an incredible little spot in Boyertown. Actually, it's not so little as you see the indoor seating area but our first visit was nice enough outside to order and have them bring our meals to our table. They have a fairly new chef in the kitchen and she offers some amazing original sandwiches, soups and salads. Desserts too! I had to get the Meatloaf & Bacon Jam Press - Homemade meatloaf, bacon & onion jam, melted cheddar cheese, on a ciabatta. It was one of THE BEST sammies in my life. Amazing combination of flavors and the ciabatta was pressed like a panini so flaky and crispy. Slightly sweet and so savory. My wife loves the pulled pork sandwich too and I also grabbed a chili to go, which did not disappoint. Looking forward to trying some breakfast items and their many drink concoctions. Cute little cafe. Stopped for lunch, had a crust less western quiche and side salad. Greens were a little limp and quiche could've had larger quantity of ham and veggies, but hot tea was great. Wish I had room for some dessert. read more

The only complaint I have is that there are very few vegetarian options. I went with 3 other ladies and we had a nice lunch. As of 11/17/20 there is no indoor seating. They do offer courtesy blankets though and a heater outside. We ordered and our food was brought out to us. The arnold palmer was delicious (fresh squeezed lemonade). One of my friends got the soup of the day and said it was really good (white chicken chili). 3 of us got the special (carnitas rice bowl). It was really good! Extra charge for avocado and sour cream. The cilantro crema on top is reallyyyy good. I wish they would have a vegetarian option of this because $10.50 for rice beans and corn seemed extra. Lovedddd the chocolate chip pumpkin muffin. Very moist. The servers were really sweet! They have alot of coffee options but I don't drink coffee so cant review those haha read more

Brakeman's was a delicious little spot to stop for an afternoon coffee. My family and I ordered Toddy's. Both hot and cold variants. They were quick and extremely delicious. The shop was decorated for the holidays and had a large selection of both meals and sweet snacks to choose from. The staff was very warm and inviting! We ended up also purchasing a bag of local coffee to take home with us and the team at Brakeman's had no issue grinding it up before we left. This adorable little coffee and sandwich spot is directly across from the train in town. It's small. There are only 16 seats inside, but there is also ample seating outside with cozy blankets provided. It would be a perfect pet-friendly spot for outdoor summer eating. When I walked in, it was packed! A long line of people were at the counter and there was only one table open. Despite the crowd, the staff was friendly and fast. They had a few different types of soups. I was impressed to see they had three types of iced tea. I later heard that their coffee is amazing, but I didn't get to try it. The breads are from Frecon's and so are the baked goods. I had chicken salad on a multigrain roll. It was delicious. I tried the bean salad, which was fresh and flavorful. My friends also commented on how good their meals were. Parking is easy. Not only was the staff absolutely lovely, but the man behind me was making recommendations. He claimed to be working his way through the menu and hadn't had a bad meal yet. I loved the exposed brick and beams. I honestly expected Lorelai Gilmore to pop in for a cup of coffee. Pretty good place. They do alright with the coffee. What really annoys me is that I'm always late for work when I order breakfast here. Even when i call ahead I'm waiting ten min. This makes no sense. The reason I call in it so that I have plenty of time to get food before work. They wait till you get there to start making it. Which defeats the purpose of calling in. We went there yesterday for breakfast. The staff is very pleasant. You order at the counter and then they bring out your food when it is ready. It is open seating. You can sit anywhere there is an open seat. Indoor and out door seating. Not a lot on the menu but what they serve is very good. I ordered the bacon, cheese, egg on a plain bagel and it was excellent. There is no parking lot, but street parking is available. Recommend this place for a nice casual breakfast or lunch. read more

Honestly, I get the hype that you'll read here on other reviews. It's a small eclectic place that's cool looking and serves as a nice local establishment. The reason I'm rating this only 3 stars, is not because I've had a terrible experience (I've been here many many times), but because I've grown to know what to expect of Brakeman's and in comparison to other places I've been, I feel the 3 stars are warranted. Expect to pay a premium for the trendy vibe, expect to wait a while as nothing is fast, but also expect a decent meal/drink (I've had almost everything on the menu and found it all to be middle of the road). I've often found this quaint spot to be staffed with a crew that lacks any sense of urgency (including the kitchen staff), however are friendly and hospitable. In summary- if you're in no hurry (or are catching a train ride next door) and don't mind spending some dough for what you could make at home - you'll not be disappointed with the experience. However, if you are in a hurry or are looking for something of a higher quality, might want to save this spot for another time. I'd really recommend it for a sleepy summer morning out on their porch. read more
