My friend wanted some fried fish and ordered the seafood combo. I opted for an order of fish and chips. We had never eaten here so did not know what to expect. Well unfortunately for us, the food was subpar. For the size of the restaurant the food quality is that of a "greasy spoon" venue. It reminds me of the type of overpriced food one would get at a little shack on a beach somewhere. The frozen fish is heated up, perhaps refried with little to no seasonings to speak of. Served with tartar sauce/hot sauce. Being famished we ate the food and contained our disappointment. When it came time to pay the bill, our server disappeared for quite awhile. He reappeared, only to ask us if we were paying in cash? We were not. Neither were the other five patrons at the other tables. Apparently, there was some glitch in their system and they could not accept credit cards! All of us waited another 30 minutes or so. We were forced to give the place whatever cash we had available and left. I felt bad for not being able to give the server a proper tip but, relieved to pay what the meals were actually worth. The grilled octopus also had nice flavor. For my entree I had lobster raviolis and my fiancé had seafood risotto. We both really enjoyed our entrees! Portions were generous and wholesome. When we asked for a table, the hostess told us they were no longer seating guests for the evening. While I understand restaurants may stop seating before their posted closing time, the issue wasn't the policy. It was the way it was handled. There was no apology, no explanation, and no invitation to come back another day. The interaction felt more like, "Why are you here?" than, "We're sorry, but we're unable to accommodate you tonight." A manager then came over and identified herself as the manager. Unfortunately, she was even ruder than the hostess and appeared completely uninterested in resolving the situation or showing any concern for the customer experience. At no point did anyone attempt to handle the interaction professionally or make us feel valued as customers. In a city with countless dining options, service matters. It's not always what you say, but how you say it. A little courtesy and professionalism would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, this experience left a very different impression than the excellent service I've received here in the past and I can't say that I'll be back.
