I love going to griggs when in town .it always amazes me at everything they have and customer service has always been great. Although during this visit while shopping in the socks I over heard someone really harshly scolding a young lady in the clothing this tall gal had fingers in the younger girls face telling her she was a associate and to stay in her lane . The younger lady handle it really well and asked to be done . If the tall lady was a manager I feel sorry for the workers . She basically told the younger gal that she wasn't a person but a dog that she is telling to sit.. after seeing that I left . I asked for a manager at front desk but was told the store manager was not in that day... Poor hostile degrading management no one should talk to employees that way. Today I went shopping but I didn't find anything I wanted so was going to leave then the alarm went off the young guy called me back in and kept accusing me off having product on me...I am 51 and have a job ,own 3 cars and I don't steal..he kept insisting I had something ..finally turned out there was a sticker bar code stuck on my foot that's why alarm turned on...but this was very embarrassing in front of all these people and he was very wrong I was very mad at the same time I will take businesses to Ranch and home. read more

A little hard to get back to writing local reviews after being in DC, but here goes. This past weekend, for kicks, I took a walk around downtown Pasco and checked out Grigg's. Downtown Pasco has changed massively since I was a kid. Back in the day, Tri-Cities shopping was centered in downtown Pasco, anchored by the triumvirate of Grigg's, JC Penney and Sears. At the time, Grigg's was the Tri-Cities' undisputed retail leader. Everybody headed over to downtown Pasco for shopping on Friday evenings. All that remains of that era is Grigg's. Retail shifted to West Kennewick with the addition of Columbia Center mall in 1970. After that, Pasco's economy really hit the skids. It reached its nadir in the mid-1980s when business was so bad, that one time, the city awarded "business of the year" to Roger Forbes and his Liberty Theatre, a seedy X-rated cinema and bookstore. But Liberty Theatre was the only downtown business doing business. In the 1990's, people of Mexican heritage moved into Pasco and became the majority population. Their dollars brought a revitalization of the local economy. Grigg's started on the corner of N. 2nd and W. Columbia, then expanded west and north, eventually taking up the entire block. Grigg's was doing so well that they even opened another store in the Richland Y (replacing Valu-Mart). I think they even had a store for a few years on Jadwin in Richland. Grandfather and Father Grigg were fixtures on local TV ads, to be replaced in the ads by grandson Charlie Grigg. But in the new age of mall and big box shopping, Grigg's struggled. The Richland stores closed and all that remains is the Pasco location. Several years back they painted the Pasco store with Mexican-style colors in a salute to the new population, but now the colors have oxidized and faded. The store has never been remodeled. The first thing you notice when you walk into the store is a pungent, ancient and dusty smell, kind of like lubricating oil and old rubber. The second thing you notice is that there are a gazillion store employees in red shirts, but very few customers. However, the inventory of clothes, shoes, hardware, home improvement supplies, toys, sporting goods and other sundries remains impressive. I don't know how much longer Grigg's can hang on, but it will be sad to see this Tri-Cities institution go. Three stars for the store as it is today, plus one more star for the memories. read more

I really enjoy Grigg's. Went in today knowing that the two annoying little items I had been unable to find at three previous hardware and sporting good stores would be there...they were. Five bucks worth of inventory, but there it was---finally. Helpful store workers pointed me right to them, in and out in minutes. Great store to have hereabouts. read more

Husband and I went into griggs today and wanted line put on for his new fishing real, we have been there multiple times before no issue. So today we decided to go back, well that was a HUGE mistake the guy in sporting goods was extermly rude to my husband and myself, he proceeded to argue with us about how they have never strung line on a real and that we were wrong. Once we got home I was so insanely upset I tried to call so I could talk to management and of course no awnser. I work retail myself and for someone to treat us like this was unbelievable. Well I went to griggs and there was a hole isle of screws and nails that were marked down but when I grabes a box and the tag on the shelf had said the specific screw that I grabbed were .95 I grabbed another box that was 7.59 but when I went to the counter they charge me 69.99 and 79.99 for the other I showed the guy where I got them he said that lame excuse of maybe some one put them there and that excuse my fly alot of the time but not when the tag on the shelf says the screw that are that specific box of screws they would not honor that and that is false advertising and I tried to talk to the manager dee dee but she was very rude and would not even let e explain that there was no way that it was placed there buy a customer bevasue the tag actually said those screws and had the price. 95 and 7.59 for the other she was rude and so I went back to the sale isle and I said fine how about this box at the price these are marked for picking up a different type of screw that were marked 6.59 he said no were not goi g to give you anything at any of the pieces that they are marked at in that aria then the manager said you can eather pay the price 69.99 or don't get then that it I not give it to you at what it is marked at . Very rude and wrong I have turned griggs in to bbb and I very disappointed in them for 1 how they are shady with not honoring the prices they put up there and 2 for the poor cusumer service they have 3. And there manager was so unprofessional rude and wrong the way she handle thing I I have never had people be so rude in all my life and out right just bluntly say they don't care if it the law there not going to honor the price it marked at. read more

I bought PUR brand canning lids. They didn't seal so I tried to return to griggs. They would not take them back or give a store credit. I was told that they don't accept ANY returns past 14 days. It says nothing of a sort on my receipt. I was on hold for 39 minutes while corp. office tried to speak to manager. The person that answered the phone said she didn't know how to transfer the call to a manager. Why would they risk losing a customer over $28? Why would they not take them back? Why have they not taken off their shelves? They don't work! Good reason to not return to that store ever!!! read more

Best customer service in the hardware department, hands down. Their paint department is the "only store who'll shake paint no matter where you purchased the can." If that's completely true, then that's even more awesome. We took a pail of what we thought was the same color paint to them to color match because unbeknownst to us, my father had it mixed. With their modest computer technology and patience, we got to resume our paint project with a perfect color match. Since we need one more can, we plan to purchase it from here to support the business. They are an awesome little place especially if you're in the Eastside and don't want to drive all the way across town to Lowe's to get any house project needs! Great prices, great service. read more

I'm a contractor, and while I am all for supporting the local guy, the Richland Ace's prices are out of control and their customer service isn't very good at all. I've consistently noticed that I pay 70-200% more for items at Ace than at Home Depot. Even with gas and time to drive to Home Depot, I'm still saving money by shopping there. Very rarely do I get greeted upon arriving at Ace (I'm always greeted at the box stores), and the person at the Ace checkout is almost always rude and irritated. There are hit-or-miss items that I can find for a reasonable price at Ace, but 90% of the time, I find that I'm just wasting time stopping there on the way to the Home Depot. I'm sure the Ace staff on a whole is fairly knowledgeable, but a couple times I've been given advice that I know isn't correct, and that could actually be dangerous. read more

This place is huge! Imagine working here! It's chock full of much which one may need to live and work in many facets of life inthe Tri-City bowl. Clothes for work, lower cost clothes for school. They had a Grigg's Ace Hardware dept store in Richland on Jadwin! I got my very first job with them and started during their yearly summer parking lot sale! I worked there between around 1977 to 1981, a few months before they closed that one down. I have so many fond memories of that place. Mrs. Grigg came in with Charlie when he was a small boy a few times to refill or empty some candy machines. Funny thing though, many years later in the early 90s I applied to the Pasco one, having put on my application that I had worked at Grigg's before, back when there was one in Richland in the 70s. In my interview the manager laughed at me, called me a liar and said there had never been a Grigg's in Richland. I did get the job, but that manager made it a point to tell me after I started that she's surprised such a liar was hired and that she even asked Charlie about it and he told her there was never a Grigg's in Richland. I told her Charlie probably wouldn't really remember it because he was so young at the time. I even had old paycheck stubs and my old badge to prove it. That still bugs me a little. I mean, my dad drove me to work every day even! I still know to this day other people who also worked there! Regardless of being treated like that at the Pasco one I always loved Grigg's. read more

We went in yesterday to buy a gun but the customer service was so bad that we left empty handed and went to Sportsmans Warehouse. The guy at the gun counter in Griggs ignored us for the first 10 minutes. We asked for help to look at a gun but we were told it would be a few minutes because he was waiting for a paper to come in. He was standing there at the counter alone, staring off into space and completely ignoring us for at least 15 more minutes. We finally just left. We won't be back. read more

In all my years dealing with these folks, I've never experienced a problem. Their employees have always been courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. I would like to know how many of the owners of Griggs company were in the service and are actually veterans of Foreign Wars because the way that they treat veterans really sucks. There double points is nothing but a way to make you come back. Home Depot and Lowe's have a 10% discount for veterans who have served our country well yet Griggs Ace Hardware has a method of giving you worthless points and thinking that it's actually a good deal or better than giving a person a veteran a 10% discount like other hardware stores. Besides the prices at ACE/GRIGGS is 20 to 200 % higher than other hardware stores in the Tri-Cities. read more

Here is my story of buying a gun and using Grigg's as the middleman: Called the gun dept at Grigg's to let them know my order number and the address of the company I ordered from....no answer at the Gun dept....after phone tag with several departments I finally speak to a young man at the Gun dept. He seems less than thrilled that he has to email the gun company I ordered from Grigg's FFL info. The gun company I ordered from contacted me the next day letting me know there was no follow up from Grigg's. I call the gun counter at Grigg's....no answer....go through the same process of phone tag and the front counter finally asking to speak to a manager. I then had to ask "Do you guys not like facilitating these gun transfers?" a few minutes later I was speaking to the gun counter and an email was sent with the FFL info. I few days later the gun comes in....I go to pick up said gun and wait in line for over an hour at Grigg's gun counter I was then asked to fill out an online 4473 form. I let them know I already did that ahead of time as suggested on your website. They insisted I do one again even though this is what they say on the Grigg's website "If you know you are going to purchase a firearm at Grigg's when you come in, then speed up your visit by filling out your 4473 ahead of time." Well, I guess that turned out to not be true! Could things get worse....oh yes! I had to come back after the background check and after waiting about 30 minutes on a Monday with hardly anyone in the store I can tell you I am done with Pasco Grigg's. I watched gun counter employees pass back and forth in front of me while I waited, the only person in line...no kidding. Finally when I became local they did send someone to help....guess what they insisted? That I fill out another 4473 form (3rd time) as I wait. The staff at the gun counter was extremely rude because they could.....very young as well to be doing that job and it showed. I really should have checked the reviews before buying another pistol from the Pasco Griggs. The service was deplorable, the staff I dealt with were rude, condescending, lacked even rudimentary product knowledge and seemed to be really angry when I asked about various weapons, specs, pricing etc... I was called on Wednesday "come get your gun." and on Friday went into the store, presented my receipt and the counter person snarled "did we call you?" It then took over 45 minutes to get my pistol and then the bums rush started. Now that I had the counterman's attention and there were no other customers I wished to look at two rifles and a pistol. I could feel the animosity and disgust. All the counterman wanted to do was walk me out of the store and hand me my purchase. In other words the sale over "get the f**k out of our store". He didn't even return my receipt which included the pistol, ammunition etc.. So now I have to go in again and be treated like a pest or worse, just to get my receipt. Now I will add that I called today and the gentleman that answered the phone was polite, helpful and quickly and skillfully solved my issues and answered my questions. I was very pleased that I had reached a more mature and responsible employee and not one of the 20 something's that mistreated me on Friday. So I have upped my stars to 2. The problem still remains, I was treated like a nuisance and a bother on Friday. Today I was treated as a customer. I will venture one more time into the Pasco Griggs and will leave a review of that experience. read more

Griggs hardware in the guns and ammo department has been the worst customer service I have recieved in a very long time. These people are very rude when calling. I had called to check on a pick up for a gun i had bought which they said it would be about 5 business days. at this time it had already been 12 days ( the 20th). they said very rudely that it wasnt in and that he would do a call back but he had 100 people at his counter so he didnt have time to help. it has now been 3 1/2 weeks (the 31st). so i called this morning and a lady answered and told me also being rude as they always are when i called, that they called me on the 17th to let me know that i could come pick it up. That really upset me because why when i called on the 20th the rude guy sarcasticly told me "Its not in and i and everyone else here will call you when the paperwork comes back you dont need to call us".
