like so much around here this store is a throwback to a simpler age. before the big blue and orange boxes over ran the countryside the jumbo-ace was the place for pretty much anything except dinner; a larger version of the local hardware store where you could find housewares, patio furniture, work and leisure clothes and stuff for to enjoying the great outdoors... this is a fine example of the big old store carrying Ace brands as well as national names across all product lines. the store is well lit and organized, and I think the shoes and clothes area was recently redone for ease of access. depending on what you need the local hardware might set you back a nickel but it's nice to have the option of not spending ten dollars and twenty minutes driving across town or buying hardware or plumbing and lighting fixtures online. really, in the long run this is totally cost effective. read more

I was in the store a couple of days ago with a small paint sample in order to get a qt. of matching paint. I was greeted by Mark. He was funny, charming and very professional. He work very diligently to get me the closest match. Indeed he did! When I got home I couldn't believe how it matched. It caused me not to have to paint the whole wall. Every time I go to this Ace I find a helpful employee, but this time stood out in particular. Riley in the paint department went above and beyond to help me through my shopping experience, and was super personable and friendly. She answered my questions and was knowledgeable. She brought my mixed paint to the front counter for me so I didn't have to carry it (when she noticed I was pregnant) while I finished my shopping. Now I know it's not the gun sellers fault. But one thing I don't understand is how come a buyer has to pay full price for the gun and then told he's on delay. It's like they don't even wait for the program to clear and tell you you're on delay so they don't have to deal with you. I've never been put on delay for a gun only when I deal with Ace or Griggs and Richland..And they say they will call you but they don't. read more

I've been a loyal ACE customer for years. The north Richland store is near our new home so visit it often. The people are great, but... I noticed they are selling hats with the confederate flag on them. I shared my concern with the manager Derek (?) this afternoon. He shrugged his shoulders. I talked a little history about the flag and how it is not necessarily a symbol of southern heritage/pride since it came into current prominence during the 40's and 50's in response to the Civil Rights movement and segregation in the 60's. He shrugged his shoulders again then blamed it on Charlie (in Pasco who ordered the hats). I got the distinct feeling that was merely an excuse. He showed no remorse or concern. My final words were, I won't be back until those hats are gone. He shrugged again. Ok, I won't be back if they display confederate flags on any merchandise. My next stop was Home Depot. read more

Though their prices aren't the most competitive the selection more than offsets the extra expense. They have a greater variety of hardware than the box stores and the staff is attentive and knowledgeable. The only downside is believing the closing time posted here for Sunday. I am embarrassed to say I have underestimated this little store for too long! We waltzed in the door knowing exactly what we wanted (scoped it out online first)-- a Stihl (yes, they carry Stihl now) weed eater. We had shopped around at Lowe's and Home Depot and the quality we found was not up to par with what we wanted. We decided on the Stihl very quickly and began to look around for someone to talk to about purchasing it. It wasn't long until an associate asked if we needed help. We weren't sure if we should grab the display or if they had them boxed up and he said we would be buying the display, but that he'd start it up for us so we could see how it ran. Ran great, and they included a free tank of gas/oil. The two year warranty is upped to four years if you buy their oil (for 2.49), so that was easy! We also noticed they have Traeger grills, Craftsman mowers, tools, and chests, and outdoor fountains. Also have cute decorations for the home, and tempting ice cream treats at the register (damn them!). Had we not walked in like two minutes before 8pm (unaware that was closing time until they were locking doors), we would have browsed around and probably found more goodies. Friendly customer service. They mentioned several times that they appreciated our business and thanked us for choosing Ace. We will continue to support this "small" business. read more

Ace is a nice alternative for Lowe's or Home Depot.. it's closer and everyone is pretty friendly.. the selection is good since they expanded to and Griggs to the mix. Do they have everything? No.. I have had to look elsewhere for stuff but not often.. so maybe check them out online to save a trip.. other then that they are a great place to shop. read more

This place is just down the street from me. So I drop by here for various trips (windshield scraper, light bulbs, duplicating my key for one with flames on it, etc.). In addition for home stuff, they also have decorations for seasonal things, and a sporting goods section. I could swear that I also saw a samurai sword here, too! read more

Great customer service...until you try to check out or make a key. The keys might as well be for display since nobody knows actually how to make a key and they have strict policies on making non-chipped key clones from a chipped key (so basically you can never make a hide-a-way key for your car in the event you lock your keys inside). I've tried several times to just make door keys, no avail...also, if the computer doesn't tell them the right number to pick, they're at a loss. I remember cutting keys at 15 by eyesight...but I digress. For the record, I love Ace Hardware stores. The Griggs store in Pasco is awesome and I guess my expectations of customer service is at least as high as I think it should be...at least when I was working customer service. To clarify, the staff are friendly...they just don't really care or really know anything. Only clerks can run the registers apparently, and having only one register open at 5pm on a Tuesday is poor practice to begin with... If you can tell, I'm a bit frustrated with this, particular, Ace Hardware...it shouldn't frustrate you every time you run to the store before you ever get through the door. If this Ace wants to keep afloat they need to police up their customer service...a lot. More training is in order. Any employee should be able to make keys and be proficient in the computers...otherwise all you're doing is making it agonizing for everyone else waiting in line. My suggestion? Just remove the keys altogether or put it in a different area of the store (like with the paint) so it doesn't bog the clerks up cashing people out. read more

I love this store. There computer system needs upgrading, lol, but genuinely nice people in a small hardware store feel (but big enough to serve most your needs). Prices are fair. There's a guy named John there, a really hard worker and knowledgeable guy. Many employees are more or less ambivalent but this store has some real go-getters! read more

I had a great experience here. They normally close at 8:00 and they let me in at 8:05. Initially the front of store cashier said "sorry" but the manager took me in. Because there was no one else in the store they hustled with me and I was out in 5 minutes. It was a personal experience that was beyond their policy and I really appreciated it. read more

This is a great store the help has always been very helpful and I have found things I couldn't find anywhere else and it has always surprised me they had exactly what I needed. There is always someone that will help you and they are knowledgeable which is sometimes hard to find. One star since I can't give zero went there to buy a sweatshirt and I over hear the little boy behind the gun counter I say little boy for two reasons one he didn't look old enough to even be behind the damn counter looked no older than 16 and knowing someone who had worked there they apparently don't follow rules with the gun counter anyway second of all he was talking to another male employee about this"Latina he's been talking to is so bomb" and that "chicks from any town are always hotter than the town you live in" and the girl at the cash register couldn't have been any more nosey if I asked her to be me and my girlfriend were quietly talking to each other about a friend who used to work there the girl at the register asked who we were talking about and proceeded to ask how we knew him how often we talked if we still talked all while holding the beef jerky stick I was buying my girlfriend against her nasty ass mouth? Finding the "right fitting" is sometimes hard to do. I have always found what I was looking for at this store and the employees are very knowledgeable. And they have enough staff on hand to provide quick help if needed. It is at a very handy location on the main drag so it is easy to get to. read more

This store has some outstanding knowledgeable people working in it. My total positive feeling changed yesterday. A woman - Christina - who claims to be the manage destroyed that in an instant. The Story: As is my habit I purchase extra 'stuff' when doing any plumbing work, because, I hate turning off water and finding I need one more part after stores close - poof no water. I was replacing a W/H in a mobile home [very tight quarters] and thought I might damage the plastic drip pan already in under the old W/H. Ace is by far closer than the big box guys, so we called - not in store - order on line. First question can we return it to the store for a refund if we don't use it. Answer "yes". Two more time we called the store and asked - just to be sure ands both times employees told us "yes, yes you can". Free shipping, so why not order from Ace, instead of driving out to the big box guys [who had this item in stock]? We receive the drip pan - install the new W/H and start returning the things we did not use. At Ace in Richland we are now told, by Christina, that we can not return this. We explain that the only reason we bought it in the first place is because we were assured by at least 3 of the people that work in that store we could buy it on line and return it to the that store if we did not use it. It was at that point Christina, in all her brilliants, says, "Well I never would have said that." What the store needs to do is put a sign on the door that informs customers that what employees say to customers must be verified with Christina to see if she would have said that.
