Took my car to get an oil change today. With cabin filter in hand, I was asked if I wanted to replace the cabin filter as well. That my total would be $105. That price seemed very reasonable for an oil change plus cabin filter. When I went to pay, the cabin filter alone was $105 - my total was not $105. They charged an $80 labor fee to install the cabin filter. Install. Not removal and install because remember the associate had already taken the cabin filter out before they asked me if I wanted to change it. It was pretty quiet in the dealership. They could definitely use some business, it just won't be from me. read more

I've bought vehicles from private sellers, used car dealers, and new car dealerships for both new and used cars, and I've sincerely never had a worse experience. I live a few hours away from Uvalde and saw a listing for a used Volvo S40 through the car buying portion of the AAA website. After a few calls with sales associate Jose, I felt confident enough about the car to make the drive to Uvalde to look at it, even though Jose gave me a tired old push to act fast. (I was told someone had looked at it earlier that day, so I shouldn't wait too long because, "this other guy really wants to buy it." That's one of the oldest lies in the book.) When I got there to see it, it was more raggedy than Jose had described it. I WAS told the interior has SOME stains, and the headliner was hanging loose, but only around the moonroof. The interior was covered in stains and the headliner was loose everywhere, even to the point of obscuring part of the view through the windshield. I bought it anyway, since Volvo is known for well-built engines that can last hundreds of thousands of miles. I drove it to Los Alamos for lunch then headed the other direction to go home with my newly purchased car. Less than 15 miles outside Uvalde, the car broke down. The engine would turn over, but wouldn't start. It had been less than an hour and the car I bought was dead. I could see a belt had shredded and come off. I called the dealership. They wouldn't send a tow, much less a mechanic. The only person who did come to look at the car and help was Jose. Not having the proper tools from the service department, it took hours to get the right equipment to change the belt, only to find the engine still wouldn't start, not even with jumper cables. By roughly 8 pm and the sun gone down, he gave up said we'd have to wait till the next day. I arived at the dealership at 8 am. Twelve hours later, I had to check into a motel and wait. (For what it's worth, the GM, Chris Griffith, DID reimburse me for the motel fee.) The next day, they didn't get a tow and start looking at the car till about 11 am. At some point thereafter, close to 2 pm, I was told oil had leaked into the coolant, thereby ruining the engine. Chris offered the choice of a refund or making an even trade (giving me a different car at no extra charge as long as they didn't lose money on the deal). There were no cars available at the Enterprise rental down the road, so I opted for the even trade. In this case, only one car fit this even-trade description, a 2007 Ford Five Hundred. In all honesty, I completely realize they didn't have to do that. As a used car customer, they had every legal right to tell me, "You bought it. It's YOUR problem now," and they didn't. I do appreciate that. However... In less than a week, one of the tires developed an interior blister and blew out. Also, the idle had been consistently a problem; it would surge unexpectedly in forward and reverse. I took it to my mechanic for an inspection and to get the idle problem repaired. I found out the battery was over 3 years old and nearly dead. The belts and hoses were in poor shape. The radiator needed flushing. The throttle body assembly had received the equivalent of a band-aid, one part had been replaced, just enough to keep it going. The pedal assembly needed to be replaced. Again, in less than one week after buying the car, I replaced a tire, the battery, the belts, the throttle body assembly, the pedal assembly, and flushed the radiator, well over a grand in repairs. I talked to Triple-A. The dealership won't do anything about the situation, no partial reimbursement or otherwise. Of course, they don't have to. They legally have the right sell a crappy car and look the other way, or even sell one crappy car then give out another crappy car in its place. But I have the right to write this review in response to their lack of ethics. On a positive note, after roughly $1,500 or more in repairs in no time at all, the Ford drives well. I hope it lasts a long time. Whether it does or not, I'll never go to Uvalde to buy a car again. read more

I really enjoyed doing business with the staff at Griffith Ford of Uvalde. From the moment I set foot on the lot I felt comfortable and relaxed. There were no pushy salesmen running around hassling my son and I as we looked around. To me this made the environment extremely welcoming... I was not even planning on purchasing a vehicle that day. I was hanging out with me 9 year old son, running some errands, and we had stopped by the dealership to ask their service department a few questions. The gentleman that helped us out at the service desk was extremely helpful. I wish I could remember his name but I'm sad to say that it has slipped my mind. Nonetheless, the service I received was nothing less than outstanding. All my questions were answered and I left there with a print out of part numbers and other locations of where I could find these items when I was ready to make my purchases. I wasn't hassled to make my purchases there or told that I could find the parts anywhere else. I only received awesome customer service and we were even offered cold beverages. As we were walking back to our car, my son and I noticed a truck that caught our eye and we decided to go have a look at it. It was a used F150 FX4 and it looked pretty great from the outside. I asked my son if he wanted to see the inside and, of course, he said yes. So I went back inside the dealership to find someone to help us out, as there were no salesmen outside on the lot as I had mentioned before. When I went inside I told the first person I ran into that I was interested in seeing the truck. He immediately called for a sales representative and asked if we wanted anything cold to drink. This was the second time we had been asked which felt absolutely welcoming. At this point Max Gonzalez, the sales representative, walked up and introduced himself. I let him know that my son and I wanted to see the F150 outside and he took us out. As we walked out toward the truck I let Max know that I was only interested in looking at the truck and that I was not looking to buy. Now, in my past experiences purchasing vehicles or even just looking at them, once a salesman finds out that you are just looking, they start treating you differently; like you're wasting their time. Not here though... Max began to tell me about the truck, its service record, and about the previous owner. It felt really good to be getting information without having to ask for it. He gave me details and pointed out some discrepancies without me asking. This made me feel like I could trust him and that he wasn't trying to hide anything. I asked if we could take it for a spin and he said "Jump in". Awesome... The test drive was great and when we returned I asked Max to find out how much they would give me for my Explorer that I was driving. I made sure I told him once again that I was just curious and that I wasn't in the market to buy. Even then, he was continued to be extremely polite and helpful, and never made me feel like I was wasting his time. He was simply providing amazing customer service. I was extremely impressed, not just by Max, but by all of the staff at Griffith Ford of Uvalde. The staff in the sales department was amazing. The staff in the finance department was amazing. The staff in the service department was amazing. Everyone at Griffith Ford of Uvalde contributed in making my son and I feel welcomed, comfortable, trusting, and even honored to be doing business at this dealership. They really went out of their way to answer all of my questions, take care of any issues with the vehicle I was looking at, and take care of me and my son. To make a long story short, I left Griffith Ford of Uvalde with an F150 that I was not even shopping for. We love this truck and have enjoyed driving it back to Georgia with no issues whatsoever. The folks at Griffith Ford of Uvalde are really second to none. Their customer service goes above and beyond. I will definitely tell everyone I know about them.
