I lived at Greyberry Apartments in Wayne for 6 years. The apartments were pretty old and needed a lot of updates, but they were a great fit for my budget at the time. When I first moved there they were very responsive to all my needs as far a repairs and they fixed them right and very well. They had two maintenance guys that were very good, very nice and very helpful. The first ones name was Jock, but they got rid of him for whatever reason. Then there was John, John was so good at what he did but they worked him to death and I's quite sure they under paid him so he left as well then everything went down hill from there. I had many issues with leaks and my mirror fell down in the bathroom and broke and a light fixture in my kitchen fell on its on and broke as well because as I told you things were old and needed to be replaced, but last March is all hell broke loose and I am thankful I was finally able to find a home and get out of there because the owners of the apartments became true slum lords and the maintenance guys have no idea what they are doing. I had a leak in my bathroom behind the vanity and there was a damp basement smell in my bathroom and I had these tiny red bugs crawling from behind my vanity. When I looked under my vanity it was all moldy and so I had to remove all my items from under it clean it myself and I was told that Id have to wait for them to come check it out because of Covid 19.
I told them that their was a whole situation behind the vanity and it needed to be removed, but what did they do. They just put some linoleum tile under their and painted it. The smell was still there and so were the little bugs and I could see black mold coming up from behind it and they still didn't remove it. Fast forward it is now June or July and I am still dealing with this issue with my vanity now the side of it is all moldy and the little bugs are still crawling on it and from behind it, and now I see wetness in my closet and mold in my closet next door to my bathroom. The maintenance guys come in and they go up stairs and next door and they can't figure out where and where the water is coming from in my closet. Come to find out it was a leak behind my wall in the bathroom and if they would've have listened to me from start and removed the vanity it wouldn't have gotten this far. They finally come in and remove the vanity and tear out all the drywall out behind it, and I was without a vanity in my bathroom for about two weeks waiting for them to fix this issue. On top of them taking all that time they left a complete mess in my apartment everyday they worked and I had to clean up behind them each day it was such a headache and it was just unbelievable. Cindy did finally give me $250 off my rent that month for the issues I'd been dealing with but at first they were acting like they didn't want to do that when I aske how I would be compensated for all of my troubles. I have pics of all the issues over the months as well I hope my computer will allow me to post them all so you don't have to take my word for it the pics will tell the story. The appliances were so old. I had a Roper Refrigerator that stopped cooling properly and instead of replacing it they had a maintenance guy come in and replace a part. It still didn't work like it was supposed to but I was just ready to go and not have to deal with them anymore. There were countless other furnace and water leak issues but this was the last straw for me.
So I go to the office on February 1st 2021 to turn in my keys and finish up my final paperwork and the new manager says to me when you were moving you placed your furniture on the side of the dumpster some one said they saw you. I'm like what are you talking about no I took all my furniture with me and I always make sure I place all my items in the dumpster I am one of the few people that do. Now mind you any given day of the week you will see all types of trash bags and furniture on the side of that dumpster. I've seen furnaces and hot water tanks on the side of the dumpster that the apartment maintenance personnel have even left there and I've seen people come off the street that come and dump things in the dumpster and on the side of the dumpster, but this is what she's saying to me as I am finalizing my paperwork to move out and get back my $200 deposit. I receive a letter from Greyberry Apartments signed by the owner Berry Cohen saying that I have $125 in balk late fees that were unpaid that were made up because I never threw trash on the side of the dumpsters and $40 to replace a broken shelf in the refrigerator when that old refrigerator is probably only worth $40 and $50 for some paint or drywall issue that I have no idea what their talking about. What burns me up is $125 that you just made up so that you wouldn't have to give any of my deposit back, and $200 isn't much but don't lie and make things up so you won't have to give it to me especially when I took great care of my apartment. read more
