The spot was fun for a local drag show. Once inside, you're immediately in the bar area. The bartender greeted us quickly, courteous and cool. The queens are talented and are engaging to chat after the show. The lost star (4/5) is because the show space is very small and it was shard for us to get a seat. So get there early. I recommend this spot. It's a hidden gem alternative to The Grove and just a really fun place to visit. read more

Great little place to sit and relax. They may look like a hole in the wall, but it is a nice place with friendly people. Patio is great for outside sitting, drinking and smoking. Music being played is right a more matured person's alley. This is not an SM (Stand and Model) bar. This place is down home. We will be hitting there each night while we are in town. This review is in 2 parts 1) The Bar - while many in my party said they served string drinks, I wouldn't know. Being a responsible drinker, I don't drink on an empty stomach. The bartender refused to let me order food (they serve frozen pizza. How hard is it to toss it in the oven?) So, I only drank diet coke. (I had planned on spending quite a bit on alcohol. 2) The Talent - GREAT!! Funny, good dancing and AWESOME costumes. So. The money I was going to spend on alcohol went to tips for the girls. Not my favorite gay bar. Went at 5 and it was dark and cold inside. Drinks were good though! Great price for what you got. Knowing it is a pub that is better at night going during the day was not interesting. The owner went and was upset about the music machine not having more money in it and the staff mentioned how unsurprising it was. If I return it will be in the evening. read more

I can't really compare to drag in St. Louis, so take that into consideration if you're trying to decide where to go. First of all, the Grey Fox is in a pretty scary looking location. I seriously thought I was in the wrong place. However, once inside, the place is fairly clean (ya know...for a bar). The drink prices are fair. The drag is good. I don't know that I'd say amazing, but I dunno...maybe I didn't drink enough. The vibe is cabaret style - everyone sitting at tables in the audience. I much prefer sets up similar to other drag clubs I've been to where the audience is in more of a "pit" looking up at the stage. Patrons mingle more, dance along, and are more involved that way. Minus cool points for no Gaga or Cher and too much Celine. Seriously? I thought this was drag! Would I come back again? Yes. But I'd probably consider checking out a new-to-me spot first. read more

Great fun in South St Louis on a Saturday night! Bars aren't my thing but we wanted to visit one or two gay bars in town to see what was going on. Everyone was friendly...nice mix of younger and older...and every shape and size...male and female and everything in between. Bartenders were VERY nice and helped us play our first game of KENO! What a hoot...we won back what we spent on it...first and last time thank you. The Drag show was so much fun, but I really was hoping for some real live singing...so tired of lip synching....z-z-z-z-z. But in any case, the gowns were amazing, and great makeup, and hair....but the highlight of the evening was the most amazing HAT dress combo I have ever seen. I want to start with saying that the performers and the bartender were great and that this review is not about them. My friends and I had a table near a particularly rowdy audience member. At first we humored him by politely talking before the show and he brought us a bottle of champagne. However, it soon became clear he had no concept of personal space. He kept coming back to our table even though we were making it clear we wanted to be left alone to enjoy the show. Soon he was dancing shirtless next to us and making us uncomfortable even more. He then demanded my friend take his shirt off because "we owed him" for the champagne. It was less than an hour into the show but we took off because we couldn't stand this treatment any longer. I was shocked to find out that this guy was not some random drunk but one of the Grey Fox owners. His behavior was so incredibly unprofessional and obnoxious that I don't think I can ever recommend this bar to someone else because they may also receive this treatment. Once again, performers and bartender were great. The Owner ruined the entire experience with his crass and rude behavior. read more

This is a small, fun, friendly gay bar. The men seem to be a little older than those in the Grove area, but all very friendly and welcoming, even to a straight couple like us. We went for the Miss St Louis Revue show, and had a great time. The MC was hysterical... I hope to go back to see him again. There's no cover for the bar but there was a $5 cover for the performance, which took place in a small theater in the room next to the bar. I've read they have a free Saturday brunch. read more

I have stopped here a few times, mostly on Pokemon Go business. It's a Pokemon Go gym. The drinks are reasonably priced, but the location feels pretty sketchy to me. Parking can also be a pain. Staff is nice, and the regulars are friendly. I just wish the location felt safer, as I'm unsure how safe my car is if I have to park a ways away. read more

How utterly depressing. Came in by myself for a little self esteem boost. Met some people and chatted it up. The individual I sat next to apparently walked out on his tab. The bar tender said I was responsible for said person's tab because I was with him, which I was not. apparently it's not OK to make friends at this bar because you then become responsible for their personal tabs. He said I had drinks on that tab though all the while I had been drinking water. He then humiliated me and told me to leave. The drag show was fantastic and the queens we're more than sweet. However the bar tender's lack of know how really put a damper on my night. Needless to say I will not be returning, nor will I recommend anyone else visit. What terrible service. I've had both amazing and absolutely horrific experiences at The Grey Fox. Michelle Mccausland can make or break a Grey Fox experience. I've seen her put on a few wonderful shows, but for the most part, she is a detriment to our community. She makes fun of lesbians so viciously, she has silenced audiences. She really helps the divide between gay men and women in our community grow. It's really a shame. To add to that, the bartenders can often be seen screaming at customers and ignoring the female customers all together. read more

I wish I could give a higher rating than a 5! I recently planned my sister's bachelorette party and saw the Saturday drag show. I emailed to set up a reservation. Miss Jade quickly responded that the Grey Fox could accommodate our party of 16. She was so easy to work with and very responsive. When we arrived they made the event feel so special by providing pink cupcakes and balloons! The drinks were reasonably priced, attentive staff, and they made good/strong cocktails. The show was a hilarious, high energy, and entertaining event. All of their outfits, makeup, and performances were so impressive. Last night 14 friends visited Grey Fox Pub for a birthday celebrations. None of us had ever been there but we saw it on Groupon so we tried it. It was the best decision we made for a birthday party night for the girls. The deal was outstanding thru Groupon but we will all be going back regardless. Watching the Last Cage aux Foxes was some great entertainment. We all laughed so hard most of the night. The drag queens were so friendly putting up the all the "can I have a picture taken with you/". Parking was great. We had 3 car loads of people and we just parked right next to the building which is right on the corner. Some people in the reviews had mentioned the location but we saw no sign of a problem (all ladies attending). Thanks again to all the entertainers for such a great show. We will definitely be back. I definately prefer this place over The Complex for drag is because you see more drag kings. The girls that play some of my favourites are very sweet and by far more approachable than some of the queens at the Complex. The place is in an iffy kind of area and the place doesn't look too fancy, but there haven't been stupid incidences like at the Complex. I always enjoy the entertainment! On Friday Evening, 10-28-16, I went to the bar to enjoy an evening watching the wonderful shows that are always enjoyable at the Gray Fox Pub. The Queens are so fun and beautiful however, the bartender on that evening was so rude to me, all the while I was tipping very well. At one point after he waited on all the male patron that came in behind me he told me, "Patience is a virtue, get some." He pretended he didn't have the vodka I asked for until the male patron sitting at the bar pointed it out to him. Clearly visible on the shelf. This young boy was so ignorant I walked out of the bar. I read all the reviews and well they lie!!! I took a group of my friends, 5 straight girls in all and we had a fabulous time!!! This place is fun, clean, safe and well very entertaining! We are from a very small town and live an hour away, it was well worth the drive! We did purchase a deal on Groupon but I would have paid more for all the fun we had! Just a little advice to the haters out there, don't go to any bar and get drunk and look for trouble it will happen whether its the Grey Fox or Applebee's! The Grey Fox is amazing and the employees are nice as can be! And the entertainers are fabulous!! read more

well one visit was enough. but since my visit it seems that there have been some changes-so kudos for that. i walk there and with increased problems in this area will lay low till the weather goes to winter. with that said- i think the most problematic thing with gfp is the exterior. facelift the exterior to glory and buy up the land around it and you could easily make it a clementines atmosphere type place. it just comes across as a low income property trying to throw drag around as money maker and draw. a few issues with the entertainment because low tipping lesbians and few other low income tipping Heteros is not a draw for the major game players- so you get low class drags- no kings- and amateurs at best. because the lack of tips makes the best of entertainers stay away- so as other reviewers said - tired . the show lead does excellent and is the only draw- the rest are just passing time till the real queen comes back on stage. I was quite pleased with my drinks strong cheap and easily priced. interior just fine- whom really needs bells and whistles? how bout small bar- small prices- easy neighborhood dive in and out for a drink or two. really no need to make it all night- but make it a quick drink or two and head to queerville , the grove/ manchester to finish your evening. tell others you got your start at Grey fox Pub. OK - just not epic. read more
