In short, we came in and my boyfriend, who is a drummer for over 20 years, noticed a drum kit on the floor. He sat down and started to play, quite gently, just tapping out a beat. Within 30 seconds, a guy comes charging over, scolding us on how disrespectful it is to touch / play someone else's drums. Huh? There was no signs saying not to touch, or that it was someone's personal drum kit. My boyfriend immediately got up and apologized, and the guy again said how disrespectful it was to play someone else's drums. My boyfriend apologized again. After that we left the store, but were genuinely confused about a couple things: 1.) If the shop doesn't want people to play the instruments that are out on the floor, why isn't there a sign or something that says that on the instrument? (Btw, totally understandable if that is the case, I get it, a music shop probably has many people coming in wanting to touch things, and I could see where issues arise.) 2.) Why does someone have their "personal" drum kit out of the floor to begin with? Seems like a bad spot for someone who doesn't want their things touched. This encounter happened during the downtown wine event, and perhaps staff were dealing with the shop being more crowded than usual, but I have to say, we were in no way being rough or disrespectful with those drums. Again, this is not a judgement of the shop itself, which actually seems quite nice, but if this is how staff treat people, it could make potential customers not want to come back, especially someone who can legitimately play.

I was helped by a tall young salesman named Chris (i think) who was knowledgeable about the keyboards letting me know the differences between them. I appreciated not feeling rushed or hustled and was given however much time I needed. He answered all my questions well and politely. I had inquired to another store about their keyboards but they never got back to me so I placed an order with San Ramon Piano instead through their website when I got home. They were prompt and I had immediate customer service helping me out. Within a week my keyboard arrived as they said (and they offered to let me borrow another ES120 till it arrived!) The delivery men were professional, friendly and set it all up for me. It looks perfect in my home and all my expectations were met. Definitely pleased with San Ramon piano!

I have four kids enrolled here for voice lessons, two of them also take guitar lessons, and one of…read morethem was added as lead singer to one of the bands.The band even got to be on t.v.! We have been going here consistantly a couple of times a week for about a year and a half. The amount of confidence built into my children by studying music at this location and participating in the shows they put together is amazing. I could not be happier with Gordon Kennedy(Owner), and the amount of growth in music he has provided for my children. They regularly have venues where your kids can participate whether it be playing an instrument or singing in front of a crowd. They have many different rooms for different voice lessons, piano, guitar, or any instrument you can think of. They even have a band room set up so that the bands can practice. When my fifth child is old enough, he will definitely be joining his four siblings studying music at this location. Every teacher is highly skilled, patient, very polite, and makes you feel like part of a family, as do the other students. Gordon Kennedy does voice lessons for three of my kids, and guitar for two of them. Needless to say, he's an expert at everything he does. I am amazed at how many instruments I have seen this man for you, and he can sing too! Lisa Rowe does voice lessons for my oldest daughter, and she is amazing. She teaches incredible technique and shares secrets from her own book that she has written. You can't go wrong with GK Music, whether you are a child, an adult, or at any skill level in your musical field of choice. All of the other teachers at this location who also been happy to jump in and help by giving pointers or praise to boost the children's confidence. Dreama has also come in to help during vocal lessons a few times, and has always been very friendly to my children. It's always a pleasure to hear her sing, she has an amazing voice, and the best personality you can hope for of someone helping your kids learn and grow.
