TL;DR: Vidal and his team do an extraordinary job moving even the most expensive pianos in the most difficult places. *** I finally decided to get a professional-grade grand piano, and after 8 weeks of searching, I narrowed it down to a 7'6" semi-concert grand. I had one piano company inspect my place, and they said "it's impossible to move a piano that size up these stairs and around this corner without cutting out a foot of this wall. You have no options." It's true, there is a narrow stairwell leading straight into a tight corner, and a semi-concert grand isn't very small. I thought it was very believable, but wanted a second opinion. I called Vidal who came and did an inspection as well. He looked, did a lot of measurements, made a few consultation calls, and he came to the same conclusion, with a twist. "You have two options. You can cut out the wall, and that would make this move easy for me. Or you can save the wall, and make the move difficult for me, but I can do it." I could tell that the clearance was so tight that there was a possibility the move wouldn't succeed. But I decided to give Accurate Piano Movers a shot. Fast forward a week, and Vidal and his team show up promptly with the piano. They blanketed my carpet and hard wood floors to protect them, and they started the move. About 45 minutes in, the piano was up the stairs and had cleared the corner. I can't describe how borderline heroic it both looked and felt. Vidal and his team went ahead and set up the piano, made sure it worked ok, asked me if there were any last adjustments he could make, and let me sign the delivery slip. Cannot recommend Vidal and team enough. We had a very old piano at my grandparents' home that needed to be moved 80 miles away to the Bay Area. I contacted Accurate Piano Movers and they took me through their availability and pricing, getting back to me right away by text and jumping on the phone first thing in the morning. Super responsive and dependable. They did not have availability for 10 days, which was fine. Even so, they called me back a few hours after we booked our appointment and managed to squeeze our move in their schedule for later that week. Awesome! Delivery day arrived and they showed up on time for pickup (at 630am!) and brought the piano to the Bay Area. They called 15 minutes before arriving in the Bay Area and were on time, professional, and courteous. On reassembly, the guys discovered a piece of the piano was cracked, preventing correct assembly of one of the legs. This was a preexisting crack from years prior that was never repaired (unfortunately this piano was loved but not maintained on a regular basis). The delivery guys kindly informed us of the issue. We worked it out so they would take the piano back for repair before installing it in our house. We were relieved to have their help removing the broken piano as it would have been very dangerous to keep the piano in the house without a stable leg. Vidal offered to help us find a replacement part for the very old piano, going far above and beyond his job (of course we made sure to compensate Vidal and the team appropriately for taking the piano back with them to help us on the repair). Vidal and his employees moved my 100 year old 6 ft Steinway grand piano (with very high sentimental value) from the SF Bay Area to Oregon. He gave me a very competitive price, and was extremely easy to communicate with throughout the process. There were no surprises, no haggling over steps, turns, etc. His employees (mostly his sons) were also very diligent, careful, and nice. There was one area that caused a bit of confusion, but it speaks to Vidal's honesty more than anything. Being a bit paranoid about my wife's great grandfathers piano, I checked APM's insurance policies (both cargo and liability) and their license to carry household goods with the California Public Utilities Commission (not very hard to do, by the way). Everything was valid, but when I asked Vidal what would actually happen in case of an insurance claim, he wasn't sure, because he said he hadn't had a claim. I made a few more phone calls, and was frustrated that neither his insurance company, nor his insurance broker, nor the insurance company underwriter (yes, I called them all, like I said, a little paranoid) could tell me anything helpful about how the insurance would actually work. My suggestion to you - if you have a high value piano, don't risk relying 100% on the coverage with ANY piano mover - put it on your own valuable personal property insurance policy...it's not that expensive anyhow. Again - Vidal was super honest and straightforward with me, but this kind of thing is really out of his control - he has the insurance and licenses he's supposed to have, and he takes good care of your piano. On August 14th 2018, the day that my piano was scheduled for delivery there was an emergency on my unit where the plumbing busted and my unit was completely flooded. Vidal moved my piano from Mantea, CA to Boulder Creek, CA. I have a narrow entrance way with a sharp turn leading into a narrow doorway. A VERY difficult move. I wasn't sure the piano could be brought into the house at all. (I would have had the piano put into the outbuilding if it couldn't be put into the house, but I very much prefered it come into the house.)
