I really, really like the laundromat, and people here are friendly. In fact, I nearly always finish my laundry by using the drop off service here. A few times though, I have tried to drop of a load of laundry before work (posted hours say opening is 7am), and no one has arrived. After now having using Greg's Laundromat for over five years I can tell you that it's a great neighborhood staple. About two years ago I mostly switched to using drop off service on a near-weekly basis. I can drop it off in the morning and pick it up after 7pm. Not once have I had any issues with lost or damaged articles of clothing. Occasionally I will still use the self-service machines for some bigger items such as bed sheets and towels, as well as when I'm in an extreme time-rush (realizing Sunday afternoon that I need to wash clothes for the morning). The machines work well, as do the dryers, which have have had their coin deposit interfaces swapped out recently and don't fail as much as they used to. Note, the awning was recently replaced and is identical to the old one, except that it now reads "Cregs Laundromat" ... Typo? Who cares. The place is great. read more

I guess it's tough to please some people. It's a Brooklyn laundromat, what do you expect? I'm honestly very surprised to see some of these reviews. The owners are always really nice to me and my girlfriend. We live across the street and have done our laundry every two weeks and Greg's for the last two years. A majority of the time, they greet me when I enter and say goodbye as I'm I'm on my way out. This is not a luxury hotel, a restaurant or anything else that you should have high standards for. You come here to wash your clothes and leave, people. Get a grip. read more

Greg's is just fine for doing your own laundry. Old machines, but they are cheap. The woman who works there (Greg?!) is nice. They don't have a change machine so you have to interrupt her folding or whatever to get quarters. read more

I'm stunned that Greg's is actually on Yelp, and wondering why I'm going through with writing a review that will almost certainly never be read by anyone else, ever. Maybe out of a need for catharsis. Where to begin? Have you ever seen another business that employs the typical hideous Williamsburg faux-shingle-style vinyl siding as an interior finish? I hadn't, either. "Greg" is most decidedly out of the picture, but evidently little has changed since his departure, which seems to have taken place maybe during Operation Desert Storm. The current proprietors are a very hard-working couple (they're opening up when I get out of bed around 7:00AM, and often still madly folding and sorting sometimes until after midnight, or else waiting for the bus to take them back to Sunnyside or wherever they live -- I'm certain it's very far away). You want to dislike them automatically, especially the man, who's normally incredibly curt and surly, and plainly dressed in someone's once-abandoned laundry (he wears a lot of sweatshirts emblazoned with the crests of big state universities). He seems to go out of his way to avoid helping you at the counter, shifting around laundry bags to no benefit or storming past you to start one of the dryers as you stand there, laundry bag over your shoulder. If you try to drop off your laundry anytime after mid-morning any day of the week, he glares at you as one might glare at someone beating her child in the supermarket. The woman (his wife?) is actually very nice, she just seems unbelievably exhausted, and consequently short-tempered. Together they seem to have suffered an extreme ordeal of some kind; they're ground down, defeated. There is a deep, palpable pall of sadness hanging over this place. If you go in late to pick up your laundry, most of the lights are off (to conserve energy, I guess) and the mindlessly cheerful Big Radio that makes the ambience all the more perverse during the day has been replaced with a Chinese shortwave news station, full of hiss and static, turned up very loud. Bleak doesn't even begin to describe it. How could I give this place one star? It would be cruel. The fact is my laundry comes back very clean and well-organized, and as much as I dread going to Greg's and grit my teeth for every second I'm inside, I appreciate these people's hard work. read more

I can't really add much more than Kevin G's review. He essentially makes all the same observations I've made. Almost uncannily so. If Greg's was any further than across the street, I'd never go. I suppose that says something about "convenience." But is it convenient? Sometimes my soul thinks not. The place, in the summer, is as hot as I might imagine some Vietnamese jungle to be. I drop my laundry off in the morning while on my way to work. It should be a very easy process, but the man makes a point to continue to A. read the paper B. clean the machines or C. fold socks while I stand there politely, sweating, waiting to be served. I'm always extremely pleasant to both the man and the woman (the woman once made a point to me to indicate that they are not husband and wife), but it seems to make no difference. I've never met a grumpier man in my life. If I treated MY customers in my line of work like he does, well, I'd have no customers. I don't need pleasantries, really, just prompt service. Even remotely timely. Heck, service that doesn't scream "screw you, customer! The last thing I want to do is serve you!" I've been nice, I've been curt, I've been neutral... To no avail. Nothing cracks this guy. It's amazing. On some level, I feel bad for this guy. BUT HE GETS ME RILED UP INSIDE! How? This is the laundry guy, and I'm a mellow person! The woman is nicer but seems constantly beleaguered. They DO fold the laundry nicely, though, but like someone else mentioned, perhaps some items of clothing don't ever make it back. Since I drop off (forget doing it there, not enough working dryers) I'm obviously lazy enough to not pay too much attention to my exact sock count. But if the guy goes on a shooting spree, I can't say I'd be surprised. I think it's time for me to walk an extra block to go somewhere else... LOL read more

Good for dropoff laundry service. A bit pricey, but your laundry comes back super-organized (undies shrinkwrapped!) and smelling nice (no skimping on the detergent, unlike some places). The staff aren't the friendliest, but they do a great job. read more

I've been using their drop off service for over a year now. I don't even consider taking my clothes elsewhere. Lisa and her family are so amazing! They've never lost or ruined anything, my clothes are always perfectly clean and so neatly folded. I can drop my clothes off in the morning before work (9 am) and pick them up on my way home (7 pm). This place was the first I used the wash-and-fold service at. I've had a few missing items, mostly socks but one time a pillowcase went AWOL. Price (85c/lb) is comparable to everywhere else. Pretty sure they keep it horribly hot to encourage drop off service. Also, now that I know how much better other people fold my clothes I've lost the motivation to do my own laundry. read more

For two years they were my go-to for drop off laundry. Genuinely the nicest people and I will miss this spot. Highly recommend.

I usually hang my clothes up in my backyard to dry, but since it's really cold out I figured I should finally go to a laundry matt to dry them. This being the closest one, I brought my recently washed clothes and was about to put them in the dryer. To my avail I hear a grumpy man yelling that that's the dryer... I replied " yes I see that" and he then said I can't dry my clothes here... I didn't see a sign saying you Have to also wash your clothes there... So I simply took my laundry and told him I'll spend my money elsewhere... Is this a common thing that you can't just dry your clothes at a laundry matt..? read more

Never realized how good we had it until I moved a little deeper into greenpoint. Yes, it takes awhile for the owners (a couple, with adorable kids who hang out after school and grandma helps out some days) to warm up, but once they do (grandma doesn't speak English, but smiles and tries her best), they were so entirely sweet and lovely, remember your name and light up when you come in. In 5 years of patronage, they preserved and treated my clothes with care and love. Everything expertly folded, low heat when I asked for it, didn't over charge, and when I accidentally threw in a small flokati, they washed but didn't dry it, hung it up and gave it back pristine. Can't say enough great things about this place, certainly a small family business that deserves neighborhood pride. I miss it, and am jealous of those reading this to choose a drop off service. read more
