I came to him dealing with chronic and constant back pain, mostly from recent weight lifting and what I later learned was some misalignment in my hips. I had tried sports massages, heating/icing, foam rolling, stretching and nothing seemed to help my lower back pain. I was honestly just hoping for a little relief--but what I got was so much more. Dan is not only incredibly skilled and knowledgeable in his work, but he also brings such a grounded, genuine presence that made me feel immediately at ease. He took the time to really listen and understand what was going on with my body, and his approach was both intuitive and precise. After just one session, I've already noticed a real difference in how I move and feel--something I didn't think was possible after struggling with this pain for so long. Dan was also extremely flexible around my schedule and worked to get me in last minute, which showed not only his passion for what he does, but his commitment to helping others. And I have to mention Stella, his sweet dog, who was the cherry on top of an already healing and comforting experience. She brings such a warm, calming energy to the space. If you're dealing with pain or just want truly therapeutic bodywork from someone who really knows what they're doing and cares deeply about it, I can't recommend Dan enough!

A side benefit is I am no longer straining or pulling muscles during strenuous activity. Thanks Dan, you are the best. Bill R.

After my first session with Tim, I noticed that the mussles in my back were more relaxed. The second session addressed the pain in my hip. I was on pain medication and Lidocaine patches for the excruciating pain. I had lived with the pain for 2 years prior to finding Tim. After the third session, the pain was completely gone and has not reoccured (it has been 2+years). Tim worked on my neck and chest and I noticed that I was able to breathe more deeply and my vocal cords felt less constricted and my speech was clearer. I heard about Corey and Tact Massage from Lonna, who is a chiropractor in the same building…read more Booking a session was very easy and I really appreciated the fact that I didn't need to put down my credit card to guarantee the booking: it gave me a first clue of what kind of person Corey is. I didn't really have any health complaints, but I like getting massages: it is one hour where I can just let my thoughts drift and have someone else take care of me. Like many people, I associate massage with relaxation and spa-like surrounding. The stereo-typical massage therapist is dressed in some white clothes and oozes sensuality and well-being. Corey and his practice is different; different in good way though. When I arrived for my appointment, I was greeted by a what I associated with a typical San Franciscan, dressed in a plaid shirt and a big commuter rucksack; he probably had just biked to his practice. He then told me a little bit about what I'd be expecting over the next hour, before I got ready for the actual massage. I then expected him to start "massaging" my body, but instead I witnessed how his hands applied light pressure on my back. While doing so, he commented on areas that he thought were a bit tight and/or needed some attention. After that, I pretty much let him do "his thing". I had complete trust in him...in fact, I apparently fell asleep at various times during the session. (Corey said something along the lines of: "I noticed that when I'd just relieved the tension on various sections of your body, I noticed you started to snore lightly...") After the session, Corey walked me through what he'd done and he pointed to various muscles on the anatomy chart on the wall next to the massage table. I can only agree with all the other Yelpers, especially Kevin N, who says: "Corey is an intellectual who combines his academic knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology with his natural gift of tactile memory." I also liked that Corey didn't do the guilt trip on me that I associate with some other massage therapists. Something like: "Oh, your body is really tense and I think we should see each other on a regular basis. In other words: your body is a total mess and I can help you fix it." Corey simply said that it would probably be good for me to come back for another session and work on some other areas, but that in general I'm in pretty good shape. I liked every bit of my visit: but mostly the fact that Corey is just a cool dude who knows his shit and makes me feel good!

Even when I expressed specific areas that needed attention, I'd always end up with the same full-body massage. It just wasn't helping with my sports issues. I've been so happy with Corey. He understands what my body needs as an athlete and really digs into the problem areas to release those parts. My experiences with him are always magic and I'm shocked at my increased flexibility in the days after a session with him. I'd definitely recommend him for site-specific issues you may have, or if you've just not been getting the kind of relief you'd like from other massage experiences. He listens to what you need and seeks out triggers that will help your whole body relax.

I used to go and see a guy named Orson in Canada. What I found out is that in Canada, when you're a massage therapist, you do something like 2,000 hours of training, and it's taken very, very seriously. In California, the requirements are like 100 hours or something, so you get a lot more relaxation kind of practitioners and not more physiotherapy providers. Now Adam is more the physiotherapy side. He really, really knows his stuff. He was able to fix my frozen shoulder that Kaiser Physiotherapy was able to do essentially nothing with, and he always makes my body feel great. As a bonus, he'll do an outdoor massage, which I love to do in the spring. It's super nice getting a massage outside underneath a redwood while listening to all the birds and the music and so forth. Adam always takes care crafting a playlist, and he is there to chat and listen too and make you feel cared for. I can't envision not having Adam.
