First off... I feel so torn writing this review... because Amber is absolutely the BEST and I want to keep that a secret but she deserves it -- Amber is our absolute FAV massage therapist because she's holistic, incredibly intuitive, and just an all around incredible human being. We chose her initially for my wife's pregnancy to entrust someone to give her prenatal massage and Amber was the absolute best. You really want someone who knows what they're doing because of how sensitive the body is and Amber is a mom herself and knows how it feels. For me, I like deep tissue and Amber is SO GOOD at it and doesn't hurt the muscles, some deep tissue is totally off base and they go into areas and damage more than they help but Amber is right on the money. She's a healer, an extraordinary person, and we're SO excited for her new spot, we used to have her come by all the time when she had a mobile setup but now looking forward to going into her new sanctuary!! read more

I see Amber for a 90 minute massage every few months. As soon as you enter her space from the decoration to her presence, everything is just so relaxing. I like how she knows a variety of techniques as well as energy work. Not many people around do cranial sacral balancing. Her touch is gentle yet profound at the same time. I feel like every time I'm getting a session. It feels like a warm hug from my best friend. I have been seeing her for a few years now and was pleasantly surprised this last week when I stepped into her New Spa oasis in downtown Walnut Creek. I always joke with her that she can be an interior designer. Because everything is top-notch. Don't think just because she does Swedish and lymphatic drainage that her deep tissue is weak. Her deep tissue knocks my knots right out. If you're looking for a high-quality Massage, this is the place you need to book. One of the best parts about her new location is that it includes free parking. read more

Sumika Sanctuary - New spa in Walnut Creek - Massage Therapy Near Me - Walnut Creek, California

I visited Sumika Sanctuary at the Pleasant Hill location a few months ago and often think about how amazing my experience was with Amber. Her warm and welcoming presence combined with her skilled therapeutic massage techniques made for an amazing experience as what I'd say has been one of the best massages I've ever had! I recently have wanted to return to Amber and I'm thrilled to see she now has a new location in Walnut Creek, I'm so excited to visit her again and HIGHLY recommend her to those that are interested. read more

I don't normally write reviews, but this experience was too good not to share. As someone who's had countless massages over the years, I can honestly say this was the best massage I've ever had. I booked a prenatal massage with Amber, and it was exactly what my body needed. Her pressure was perfect... firm, intentional, and incredibly therapeutic. I walked in feeling sore, tight, and uncomfortable after months of pregnancy, and walked out feeling like a completely different person. I genuinely haven't felt this good in five months. Pregnancy can be so hard on your body, and this was the first time I truly felt relief. Amber has such a calming, kind presence and makes you feel completely comfortable. You can tell she's passionate about helping people heal. If you're pregnant (or looking for an incredible gift for someone who is), I cannot recommend Sumika Sanctuary enough. This was one of the best things I've done for myself during pregnancy, and I'll absolutely be back. read more

Seriously had THEE best massage of my life with Amber. I went here during pregnancy due to all the good reviews and she was sooo great, super accommodating, friendly, and talented. I sent my husband to her, and he said it was also a great massage, and I finally came back 4 months postpartum and she literally gave me the best massage I've had my whole life. She focused on the areas I asked her to focus on and she even targeted areas indirectly related to the areas I had tension from breastfeeding and carrying a newborn around 24/7. She is truly a healer and we will be going back again and again! read more

I started seeing Amber during my first trimester. I saw her twice a month and weekly towards the end of my pregnancy. My husband also started seeing her after I raved about great I felt after seeing Amber. We both continue to see Amber to this day and do not plan on stopping anytime soon. We are both athletes and have had many massages over the years and Amber is top notch. I highly recommend Amber to anyone needing/wanting a massage. If you are pregnant, then do yourself a favor and see Amber. read more

Amber is an amazing masseuse. I've been going to her for a few years now since COVID, her space is very warm and inviting as well as her presence. I have a lot of jaw pain from TMJ which also makes its way down to my neck and back and she has very good at pinpointing the spots that need attention but also not applying too much pressure when I am tender, even though I typically prefer a deep tissue massage, I can tell she has great range and can adjust to what is needed depending on the client. I've been to a lot of different masseuses in the past and have stuck with Amber because I finally have found someone who really makes a difference in my ability to move and impacts the range of motion and improves areas of pain I feel read more

Have you ever been in pain and just tolerating it because you assumed it's normal? I've done that for years with pain in my shoulders and neck whenever I'm stressed. I figured and was told "that's where you carry your stress." It got so bad during Covid that I couldn't turn my head at all without shooting pain down my neck and back. I reached out to a chiropractor and he did an adjustment (my first one ever) and it helped, but not completely. He suggested I find a physical therapist to work on my neck. I found HEAVEN on EARTH when I found Amber! I've been going to her once a month for about 3 years and not only am I not in pain anymore, but she gives me tips and tricks to do at home. So that if I start feeling the pain from stress I do them and it really works! She's also given me pointers on herbs and foods that can help with other things. She's never given me bad advice. Also, she works out of her home. And when I say that you have to imagine a literal sanctuary. I bring my teenage daughter with me every visit because she LOVES Amber's house. Amber spoils her with a warm comfy blanket and delicious drinks and of course the ambience of the place is just so relaxing it's like being at a spa, but your own private spa. Amber is seriously magical and I've referred all my friends and family to her. She's also the sweetest, most genuine person I know. read more

I had horrible back pain and I am pregnant, so I did not want to take medicine and wanted to find a holistic cure to my pain. I was in such bad pain yesterday that I was on the ground sobbing--wishing the pain would go away. My mom suggested a deep tissue massage, so I began to look around. Well, I am so very LUCKY that I found Amber! She truly is a miracle worker. Not only was she warm and welcoming, but she is also an incredible masseuse. She massaged muscles in my body that I had no idea hurt, but they were contributing to my pain. She knows the muscular system and is very intelligent and taught me things about my body. She used healing oils on me and taught me stretches to help the part of my back that was in pain. Last night was the first night in a whole week that I was able to sleep through the night because of Amber's incredible healing powers! I am in awe of her talent, ability, and professionalism. If you go to see her, you will be lucky, too! :) read more

Amber gives the best massages! She is so very skilled and such a calming presence. I had regular massages with her during my pregnancy. When I was past 38 weeks and approaching my induction date, I asked Amber to attend to labor pressure points, and sure enough, I went into labor naturally that evening and had a wonderful birth experience, avoiding medical induction. I'm certain that the unparalleled level of relaxation she created during the massage was the key. :) I am now having postnatal massages with Amber which are equally soothing, and I look forward to them so much. Amber always has the best advice to give on everything pregnancy and postpartum body care too. She's just the sweetest person too! read more

During my third trimester is when I started to feel all the aches and pain of pregnancy. I was 38 weeks pregnant when I finally decided to book a prenatal massage. A lot of places in my area were booked for weeks & I went on Yelp and came across Amber. After reading the reviews, I decided to give her a chance. At first I was worried that a prenatal massage may trigger labor because of certain pressure points, however I was completely wrong and was overthinking it. Amber knows exactly what she is doing and knows how to make you feel better. Amber has such a sweet and beautiful soul & she gave me the best massage. The massage was so relaxing that the baby was relaxed too! I didn't feel the baby kick after the massage for the rest of the day and I went to the hospital to check to see if the baby was okay. The midwives said that the massage must have been so relaxing because baby is literally relaxing in you! The baby had her feet crossed and was only wiggling her toes!! Lol! Okay, back to the massage. I booked a 75 minute massage and wished I had the 2 hour massage. I didn't know how bad my body was! Amber massaged out areas that I didn't even know was bothering me. Some of the massage temporarily hurt as I had very difficult knots, but with Amber's techniques she loosened the knots and made me feel so much better. I will definitely be booking a postnatal massage! I highly recommended giving Amber a chance!! read more

Amber gives the BEST massage! Amber has a gift when it comes to locating the muscles that need attention. My daughter has fibromyalgia and is in a chronic constant state of pain. During flares ups, sleep, walking and everything in general becomes unbearable. Amber has been able to alleviate that. Walking in barely able to walk, walking out with ease while laughing is such a gift that I cannot repay! Thank you Amber! I can tell that you enjoy your work and my daughter will continue to enjoy being your client! read more

Amber is a gifted massage therapist. Her space and her energy is so calming. I typically like a deep massage and usually have to ask for more intensity, but she came in strong with it right away and was responsive if I needed to dial it back. She found areas of my body that I had no idea needed work. Amber is very sweet and calming and has a healing/loving spirit and gentleness about her. I highly recommend her! read more

Well that was just an amazing prenatal massage. I cannot recommend enough. I'm very grateful to have found Amber. She's talented, sweet, and very capable. Amber is absolutely wonderful! I had super sore shoulders and wasn't sleeping well, so I scheduled a massage/reiki appointment with her and I left feeling amazing. She is a wonderful masseuse & so in tune with the universe & healing energy. I will absolutely be back for another session! She has an amazing spirit and her space is so welcoming. She worked out sore muscles that I wasn't even aware were causing me issues. That was my first experience with Reiki and it was wonderful. I don't know how to really explain it, but so much anger was released and I felt spiritually lighter after our session. Highly recommend Amber!! You won't be disappointed. read more

What an incredible gift it was to receive a massage from miss Amber. The healing work that she placed on me was so genuine and made me feel like I was completely safe and at home. Amber is simply AMAZING! Had my first appointment with her yesterday did the 90 min massage with reiki and loved it. Amber makes sure to work on your problem areas and really work through them. Feeling a bit sore today (good sore) but that's expected as she had her work cut out for her as I haven't had a massage in over a year! I got my first massage from Amber a little over a month ago - what an absolute treat! Before we got started, we discussed some areas to focus on and what kind of pain/sensations I'd been feeling for a while. She was able to hone in on the problem areas and guided me into a deep state of relaxation throughout the massage. She was attentive and checked in with me regularly to ensure I was having the best possible experience.
