Do you ever sometimes wish There was an Extra Star you could award a business that you felt goes over and beyond what you would hope for or expect of them? You know, the type of experience where you come for something and are SO VERY glad that you chose that person to come to? THAT was my experience with Gregory Jacobs Clothier (and suit alterations). I had purchased a tuxedo from another company, and I found the sleeves were too long, and the pants a little tight in the seat. My husband and I were looking for a dinner jacket that he could wear to a nearby conference when we found a tailor on Peachtree inside the Hub. After a quick try on and a glance around, I sang the chorus to an old Motown song, "My mama told me you better shop around." Well, the store owner, Mr. Gregory Jacobs, laughed and let me know that he believes in sharing what his mama taught him too. That's why he loves to ask quality questions and offer you a variety of custom threads. I quickly learned that he aims to be a one stop shop. He is quite knowledgeable about what makes a tie and jacket great, and was willing to work within our budget. The greatest thing about visiting his shop is he makes you feel at home. It felt like we were visiting a long lost family member. We asked him about how he got in the clothing industry, and he shared an unforgettable story. He's an energetic character, who will go in the back of the store to find you a treasure if he needs to. He even threw in something complimentary before we left. Admittedly, I haven't written a review in quite some time. Frankly, nothing in particular has impressed me much lately. Fortunately, that drought has come to a magnificent end. Our company moved in to Peachtree Center about a year ago. Since then, I have marveled at the bizarre collection of boutiques and clothing stores housed within it's "mall." It's literally like stepping back in time to the mid 80s (and not in a good way). That said, I enter and exit the building every weekday through a lower level. There, next to the Benihana (another 80s reference), is Gregory Jacobs Clothier (JGC). Behind its glass windows lie the most meticulously arranged rows of beautifully tailored shirts, jackets, pants, and suits I have ever seen. I was always intrigued and tempted to take a look inside, but for whatever reason, did not. I had gotten quite comfortable in my every-day-is-Friday casual dress that my company allows. Why would I want to put on something structured? Until one Friday on my way out , I said "What the heck" and went in. I was greeted by the owner, Greg, who is undoubtedly one of the nicest, warmest men I've met. He immediately made me feel comfortable and asked me what I was looking for. I stated I wasn't sure. He said, "Well, let's try some stuff on then, why don't we?" For the next hour, I tried on suit coat after suit coat--each one fitting as if it was custom-made just for me. Not one needed to be shortened, let-out, adjusted in any way. He's an expert stylist, as well, matching the coats with complementary shirts, pocket squares and little fabric lapel flowers (I know, right? How dope is that?). Needless to say, I walked out with two coats and two shirts for a very reasonable price, especially considering I will probably be buried in one--the quality is that fine. And all American-made to boot! The next day, I woke up with an excitement to get dressed--excited to get dressed! Imagine that. I put on the shirt and coat, fluffed my pocket square and lapel pin, and walked out the door feeling more confident than I had it quite some time. I walked a little taller, my swag had a little more swagger, and I realized there is no doubt that "the clothes make the man." I am now planning on making a serious investment in myself and my appearance by augmenting my wardrobe with more of his amazing clothes; he has given me an appreciation for fashion that had been lost and it feels great. Big fan. Greg does a great job of custom tailoring all things. I've purchased pants, shirts, sport coats and suits, and get compliments every time I wear any of the items. Great personalized attention from Greg. Prices are often better than high-end department stores, and the way the clothes fit is 10x better! Can't think of a reason to shop anywhere else. Only downside is time--clearly with custom clothing you've got to wait a couple weeks. However, the clothes are well worth the wait. I've also used them for alterations and tailoring of shirts and pants I already owned. Again, great job, great turnaround time, and extremely competitively priced. Two big thumbs up! read more

I had some pants altered at home and was visiting Atlanta for a conference. When I arrived in Atlanta, I noticed the alterations were poorly done. I brought the suit pants to Gregory, and he and Joe (Master Tailor) fixed both pairs within an hour, and they did an excellent job. And the price was very fair. I went in to get an outfit fitted  and was able to get it in a week and 3 days.  It sounds like a long time but I was able to get it in time for my event with all the alternations that had to be done on lace material.  During the process, I went in for a second fitting, there would have been a third but my schedule was full. I went in for pick up the day of my event, tried on my outfit on but it still needed alterations. They were very accommodating and provided me with snacks as I waited for the tailor to  come in to adjust the sewing for me to be able to wear my outfit. The end result----My outfit hugged my body exactly how I wanted it to and I was a very satisfied.  Excellent customer service,  I will definitely be back read more

I was on a work trip to Atlanta and realized I left my tailored shirt at home (back in Portland, Oregon!). Randomly ended up at GJC Clothier, and Gregory Jacobs went out of his way to accommodate me. I was in a rush, but he found an amazing shirt that was close (but not quite!) fitted to my slim build, and he had his tailor fix it up for me same day, at a price that was great. He even walked over my shirt to the hotel I was staying at after the tailor completed the work.
