We were looking for Mexican food with large televisions so we could watch Monday night football and yelp suggested this place. And, if I must say, I'm glad it did. This was an amazing experience from the very second we walked through the door. We were seated within thirty seconds with a very friendly "sit wherever you'd like". We ordered a few beers and the chips and salsa showed up as soon as we sat down. The chips were fresh and salsa was delicious. They even gave us chilled glasses for our beers. Our server was a curly haired guy named Eleazar and he was phenomenal. We never wanted for anytime and he was soooooo polite. The food came out within ten minutes and it was hot, fresh and very well made. A nice presentation as well. I had grilled catfish dine "Mexican" style and was superb. My three other dinner goers enjoyed their meals as well. I found this place clean, well run and the food was first rate. There is great parking that is well lit and safe. What happened? We used to love the food here- but the quality was so low for all of us at our last visit. We came during lunch on a Saturday- it wasn't busy but our server was no where to be found most of the dinner. I ordered the tacos Al carbon and they were so bad-- I also didn't get the toppings (guacamole and salsa) until my meal had been at the table for 5 minutes. This place offers a very quaint small family feel and we loved that! Once we walked in we were greeted by "Mexican Elvis" and they had Elvis ribs as a special. It seems they really love Elvis around here. I ordered the shredded beef burrito which had great flavor but the shredded beef was a bit tough and dry. A co-worker recommended this restaurant as his family has been coming here for years. We came for breakfast today and had a great experience. For starters I love homey hole in the wall restaurants and this one fit that bill. The chips and salsa were delicious and it was obvious they are making the tortilla chips in house. I went with the huevos rancheros with Christmas chili, beans and rice. The hubs got a huge breakfast burrito. The spice levels were perfect and the rice on my dish was delicious. My mom and I wanted to eat before our work shifts and she wanted to take me here. We were seated right away and our waiter was at our table in a flash. Our food was out in not time and I have to say I was disappointed. The beans and rice were your average mexican restaurant staple, which wasn't bad at all. However, the beef in my tacos tasted off and I didn't finish them. I'm hoping it was just my taste buds or an off day for them, but this restaurant is definitely worth a try! So disappointed! We went to a place I love for their best crispy tacos, but they changed their hours. My friend was still craving crispy tacos so we went here. The tacos sat like bowling balls in our stomachs (we only ate 2 of the 3) . By time you get to your second taco, it's greasy and gross. The flavor was bland, boring and strange. We had breakfast burritos, which was one of the cheapest items on the menu. They consisted of eggs, potatoes and beans, $9.50 but when cheese was added the price went up to $10.50. Although the preponderance of reviews of Gregorio's are very good, I'm surprised to see the number of negative reviews. Based on our experience, I was going to give Gregorio's the benefit of the doubt and up their rightful 3.5 star review to 4. For two reasons, however, I'm going to drop it to 3: an apparent inconsistency which, taken together, the reviews speak to, and the prices. I don't usually lead with price and value, but since I raised it, I will speak to it. Combination plates start at $13.95 and go up to $16.95. Seafood and meat specialties push $20. Prices aren't obscene. But relative to the competition - other family-owned, neighborhood, prominently Tex-Mex eateries - they are a couple of bucks higher than the competition. And if you're going to be a little higher, you definitely can't afford to be inconsistent. Hence the demotion to 3 stars. Enough rationale - our experience was very good. Two pleasant dining rooms, both clean, bright and in good repair, and large flat screen TVs on every wall (I know that's not necessarily a plus, but the night we went there was an NFL playoff game on ...). Our service was gracious, prompt and attentive. Our meals came quickly and were all excellent. Other Yelpers have commented on the obviously homemade tortilla chips, and yes, they are terrific. As is the salsa. So too is the green and red chili. Nothing is mind-numbingly hot, but the salsa and chili have just enough heat to tweak your gizzard a little bit. I will be back to Gregorio's - I'm not put off by a couple of bucks a meal as long as they deliver a consistently good experience, and ours was a good experience. Delicious authentic Mexican restaurant just minutes from Sloan's Lake West of Denver. Yummy top-shelf margaritas, homemade chips and incredible salsa served to every table. I would classify this restaurant as a neighborhood gem. The Mexican food was definitely solid. My husband had the huevos rancheros and absolutely loved them. I had a combination which was pretty good. I really liked that the tostada shell was shaped almost like a taco shell. So smart! Why doesn't any other restaurant do this? Otherwise all of the stuff falls off. I'm not sure that I would drive terribly far out of my way to come here. But I would definitely be back if I were in the area.
