It's a little bit like dinner theater, but with dental anxiety. You will be pressured into unnecessary services, while items are rapidly added to and removed from your bill like a shell game. Privacy is optional, as treatment plans and financial details are discussed openly, out loud, in front of everyone. They enthusiastically push services your insurance won't cover and that you don't need, and your total bill can swing hundreds to thousands of dollars with no clear or timely explanation. Personally, I was quoted a multitude of different costs across the same visits, sent a request to pay more than I owed, and was told I "wasn't allowed to leave without paying" despite no one being able (or willing) to provide an itemized ledger. After endless back-and-forth with multiple receptionists and the manager, I still do not have a clear breakdown of current charges and am waiting for them to get back to me. Dr. Carlin insulted me by saying "hundreds of thousands" have used Invisalign and you seem to be the only one who has pain.". Perhaps he should read a few peer reviewed studies. I wanted to leave then but Dr. Carlin and his assistant blocked me in until I forced my way around them. Dr. Carlin said they would only charge me a lab fee, but he kept my $1600! I came in today for an ortho consult, even the front desk person admitted its not the docs specialty but they could see what she could do and I could have a consult. Since I only needed a retainer and they were close by I came to see for myself.
