I am writing on behalf of my friend, Nancy, who is 76 years old. I am asking for help because I…read morebelieve she was seriously overcharged by Qual-Tech Air Conditioning & Heating, and my efforts to resolve the matter directly with the company have gone nowhere. Nancy purchased a brand-new air-conditioning system from Qual-Tech in June 2025. The system came with a 10-year parts warranty. Just over a year later, in September 2026, the system stopped working. Qual-Tech came to her home and told her the compressor had failed. The compressor was replaced, and despite the system being under warranty, Nancy was charged $2,388 for the repair. That amount immediately raised questions for me. I have worked in property management for approximately 20 years and have dealt with countless HVAC repairs and replacements. I asked Qual-Tech to provide a detailed, itemized invoice explaining exactly how they arrived at $2,388. I also asked them to provide their hourly labor rate and the number of labor hours charged. They have refused to provide that information. I have the invoices, warranty information, correspondence, and other documentation related to this situation. I have repeatedly tried to give the company an opportunity to explain the charges and resolve this matter directly. After my concerns were not addressed, I began researching the company and reviewing customer experiences posted online. What I found on Yelp was extremely concerning. There are numerous negative reviews describing other customers' experiences with the company. Those reviews have only increased my concerns about what happened to Nancy. I am not asking Qual-Tech to perform the work for free. I understand that even when a part is covered by a manufacturer's warranty, there can be legitimate labor and other expenses associated with replacing it. What I am asking for is transparency and a reasonable charge. I requested that Qual-Tech refund half of Nancy's $2,388 payment -- $1,194 -- as a reasonable compromise. They have refused. Nancy is 76 years old. She should not have to fight a company simply to understand why she was charged thousands of dollars for a repair on an air-conditioning system that was barely a year old and covered by a parts warranty. I am tired of seeing elderly consumers placed in situations where they may not know what questions to ask or how to challenge a bill they believe is excessive.

1: Service tech shows me a video of my drain pan in the attic under the furnace of a split unit…read moreheater where in this video there is insulation in my drain pan, Instead of him removing the insulation he washes it down my PVC overflow drain that was attached to the pan. He said he blew it out with some sort of canned air? its approximately 30 or so feet long and not sure it had enough pressure to clear the line. 2: After completion of the maintenance of my heating unit the tech informed me that the capacitor was low and close to failing. I asked him for a quote on replacing it and the company came back with a grand total of $526.00. This item is at most- best product made about 30.00 and can buy it on line for half that cost if you go the cheaper version which makes the labor charge around $480.00 after taxes etc. this item to replace is remove side panel, take picture of wiring placement and position of capacitor. make sure all electricity is removed from exterior of capacitor so not to get zapped. then remove wiring approximately 6 wires on connectors. Remove capacitor from strap with 2 zip screws. replace capacitor with new capacitor, put wires back on connectors and close panel. That simple. Approximately 30 minutes maximum for average joe tech. If they charge show up fee then 1 hour labor is that $400.00 $450.50 dollars worth of work? You make the call. 3: The tech told me as well that there was no overflow safety device. They wanted 356.00 to install one of these devices which cost approximately $15.00 to $ 50.00 give or take depending what you buy. This unit is not exactly necessary as long as you have a secondary back up drain line for safety coming off the drain pan which has a drain line over your window so when there is a problem you will see it dripping from inside the house in which i do and many units do. If you do want to install this device this is approximately 30 to 60 minutes to add to your unit and you should be able to find someone for a fraction of this cost to install it. 4: This company uses what they call a flat rate payment system which they put labor, all fees and parts together and give you a flat rate of cost so in this case there is approximately anywhere from $50.00 to $100.00 in parts and that's being generous which tells me there is approximately $750.00 to $790.00 total for both issues in labor and time for approximately 1 1 1/2 or 2 hours of work and that's also being generous. Using this flat rate system to make prices allows companies to pass up the breakdown of labor and parts costs so the people that don't know how to look the parts up won't know how much was labor and how much was parts. The total for both parts to be installed was $ 882.00. 5: Needless to say I will not afford $700.00 to say $790.00 in labor to remove and replace a capacitor and an overflow safety switch and you shouldn't either. When i called the company to ask why the high cost of labor they told me of the flat rate system they use and when i told them about the insulation the tech ran down my overflow drain line the lady said that they blew it out with pressure but i didn't see a compressor and anything in a can I can't believe would have enough pressure to push wet insulation 30 or more feet through a 3/4 inch PVC pipe. Maybe it does work but i won't know unless it clogs correct? Shouldn't have allowed it to go down the PVC drain in the first place. I paid for maintenance but that's not how i want my system treated and now worried will my ceiling flood nor will I pay into a flat rate system to receive service on my unit. I need a break down of parts and labor just for instances like this. Everyone should request that. It's your money not theirs. To sum this up at the end of the call the lady hung up on me for asking these questions and being concerned. No i wasn't rude no foul language and wasn't loud. I was very professional and She just didn't want to hear the complaint.

This is not our first experience with Arizona TradeMasters (ATM). We have always been treated…read morepolitely and with respect. It has been a week now since the new AC was installed on my house here in Peoria. We started experiencing a small leak in our old system about a month ago. ATM sent out Marko, and he did a great job fixing the leak. He was here for a couple of hours in a tight space doing the repairs. He was able to get our old unit up and producing cool air. But a few weeks passed and a second leak occurred in our AC. Mike came out and explained to us that the leak was repairable, but the parts for the repair would be a few days longer than we were willing to wait. Dealing with this old unit has been frustrating the past few years and we figured this would be the best time to replace the unit. The financing was very simple and easy to do, we got our approval within minutes. Once the approval was done it was time to talk numbers, and that wasn't that bad. Leonard work with us to get the right finance plan that fit our budget. It took a few days of dealing with a hot house (approx 95-100 degrees inside), but it was great to see Brian and Brady arrive to install the new unit. Once they started, it took a couple of hours to get the old unit off and the new unit turned on for use. After the system was tuned on, it took a few hours to cool the whole house to a reasonable temp. We've been running the new AC at a comfortable temp since it was installed. From the person who answered the phone the first time to the moment ATM finished installing our unit, it was very pleasant and professional. I will continue to recommend ATM when asked for an AC company.
