Paul and Romy were amazing to work with - true professionals and artisans. They restored our shingles to perfection while resealing interfaces, and the restaining is a serious upgrade to the look of our house. We feel like we were able to maintain the architectural integrity of our home - even improve it - while not sacrificing visually or structurally. Romy did the estimate and made recommendations as to the type of finish to use (stain vs solid stain vs paint) for our project. He also helped us pick out a great color. The workmen were fantastic - skilled at their jobs and very efficient. They treated our house like it was their own, down to washing window screens after they finished staining around the windows. Romy was out daily to check on their work, which we really appreciated. One section of the wall wasn't taking the stain as well as the rest of the house, so he had them do additional coats until it met with his approval. Our house looks better than it ever has in the 20+ years we've been in it. Marin Wood's prices may be a bit higher than the big companies in the area, but you're not going to get this kind of personalized service from them. We highly recommend them without reservation.

Thank god we found Ben, he does things the right way to restore the wood and cause no harm. His team washed, sanded and sealed our deck and complex trellis & arbor bringing it back from the dead. This isn't the common case of nice knowledgeable dude comes to your house, gives you an estimate, earns your trust then sends in the B-Squad to complete the actual work and original guy is nowhere to be seen. Ben was always here and would communicate at the start and end of the day or anytime there was decision to be made about time & cost vs. results. Not to take away from his excellent helper though, I fully trusted that guy to do impeccable work as well. Ben's attention to detail goes beyond the wood he is working on, he is obsessive about prepping the surrounding area to protect it from damage, dust or water. Carpenter handyman Well I bought a house where the prior…read moreowners did all their work themselves. Unfortunately they did not know what they were doing. Neither do I, but I am smart enough not to do something wrong. So the most recent disaster was a flood under the kitchen sink. (They had replaced the piping and as best as I can tell a part was missing). The plumbing wasn't a big deal - the nice man in the plumbing store said what to do. But the completely rotten flooring under the sink and the mold was beyond my capability. So I called Mark (510-282-7472). Mark used to be a fine carpenter who worked on restoring Victorians. He has helped me before - in the great paint the kitchen, install a new light, hang curtain rods and other handyman type things adventure. I already knew that he would figure out a work around, that didn't involve buying an entire new kitchen. I was right. He looked at it, pulled out the rotten stuff and told me to spray the mold with bleach and water and put a fan to dry it out. A week later he came back, painted it with something to stop the rot and a couple of hours later had built me a whole new under sink floor - which was 100 times better than what I had before. His rates are more than reasonable, and he knows how houses work, so he can come up with creative solutions. He does handyman stuff and of course carpentry. Now I just need to deal with the fact that the flood warped the kitchen floor.
