For the TLDR's out there, my multiple experiences with GBU is they are best on price, do great work, and are quick to respond to any questions at seemingly any hour. For those who want details, my 20 year old flat roof has leaked each of the 5 winters I've lived under it, and this year I was done patching it. After getting quotes to replace it from three companies I went with GBU because they were the quickest to do the job, had good reviews, and cheapest. As the project got going I quickly learned they were also the friendliest and very quick to respond to questions at seemingly any hour of the day. The new roof has been through two atmospheric rivers and it has been such a relief to not worry about leaks. If you're still reading and somehow need more convincing, after the roof was done it finally made sense to deal with some worse-for-the-wear drywall. Despite being cash strapped, Yosi (the owner) went out of his way to meet me where I was. In summary, GBU will be my go-to for all manner of home repairs. I suggest they be yours too. read more

Yosi excels in customer satisfaction, he always made sure I was happy with the results and he was always willing to help and solve problems when I was not satisfied. That to me was the most important thing. I provided the design and they made sure the result was better than the 3D renders! They recommended great suppliers which gave me good prices, and made it easy for me to buy materials and pick them up for me. The project took a bit longer than expected: 5 months, instead of 4 that was projected. Some of this was in part for material not arriving on time, but there were also some things that could have been sped up from his side too. Recently my wife and I chose GBU Construction and partnered with Juda for the completion of our interior remodel, which featured renovation of our formerly bonus room into a master suite. The project consistently ran ahead of schedule, as compared to neighbors in the Danville area's renovations and was completed in a timely manner. Juda and the contractors that he utilized were professional throughout the remodel and renovation process and shared inputs, as well as collaborated effectively with their clients (my wife and I). From the beginning of the partnership, I knew that I would be choosing Juda for the completion of the project due to the transparent nature of his communication (initially) and then the continued communication throughout the process of updates, goals and agenda items to complete. The team that he has assembled is a well-versed team of plumbers, framers and floorworkers, including hardwood, tile and more! In addition to the master suite that Juda and his team at GBU Construction built, they completed a relocation of our laundry room (including demo of our former WIC): which featured rerouting plumbing, electrical and machines. They also did a great job on demo-ing hardwood flooring and laying quietwalk throughout the downstairs and installing a beautiful Medallion LVP flooring material (purchased from Bay Area Tile & Hardwood in Danville). Overall, I would recommend the partnership with GBU Construction and Juda; however, as a callout I would advise to have better communication throughout the holiday seasons and ongoing holidays, as consistent communication could be improved. read more

Looked at it and, as it appeared to be a simpler fix than we expected, gave us several tips and directed us to specific professionals that would do the job for a price that is much more affordable. Very professional throughout the whole communication process, didn't try to push his services on us (which would have cost much more than hiring a different professional) and was 100% honest about it. Explained what the issue was and what is needed to fix it, so when we hire someone to do the job, we alerady know what to expect and don't fall for someone trying to rip us off. Our floors was scratched by our movers once we moved to our new house . We wanted to finally get concrete paving done for our back yard and fix the drainage problem we have had since we purchased our home in San Lorenzo. Juda, project manager from GBU, came over and gave us an estimate, discused the scope of the work and recommended concrete pavers as a solution instead of pouring concrete as we initially planned. Also, Juda was able to recommend a solution with a French drain system to fix the water issue and divert water from the house. The project took longer than anticipated due to materials not being available. I would recommend to research and take into account the materials availability. My husband reached out to the company to obtain a quote. We scheduled an appointment today at 3pm but the representative called his supervisor with a made up story that he feared for his safety and his car was being vandalized. This was untrue. Our contractor was outside observing the representative when he approached the property and met our tenants' kids. He observed and listened to his interaction with the kids. I believe the representative did not want to interact with black clients. If this acceptable behavior from the employees then I can only imagine what to expect from the ownership and leaders. read more

Based your response, I can understand the poor service and rudeness. I was not in a hurry or a rush. I had questions, however, all I received was disrespect and rudeness. At this point, I did not want him in my home another minute. Your representative was extremely rude with a condescending tone. It should be about listening to the customer and what he or she wants. That was not the case here. I had plenty of other work to be estimated, however, based on the way I was treated, there was no possiblty to go further. Your staff needs to be trained to treat and listen to customers better. I have worked with dozens of contractors for over 30 years, and this was the worse customer service skills. Hired GBU to complete 1.5 bathrooms (family bathroom and powder room + some doors and trim, & plumbing obviously) They arrived with the first "foreman", a guy they had not worked with, who proceeded to hire an insane looking "plumber" who worked from 4-9pm and never completed the plumbing properly. That plumbing had to be ripped out at great cost to GBU... That foreman was fired by GBU, and replaced by a second foreman, who never came to look at, or understand the scope of the work. The project ran on for months with a third foreman and unskilled laborers onsite screwing up tile work, requiring reordering tile over and over. Tile workers had to travel overseas for weeks on end, causing delays and inconsistencies in installation... such a nightmare. Finally we finished, but the quality was not great. They provided one qualified woodworker to install the doors for two or three days (thank god!) and by no fault to that guy they even screwed up @ 6k of custom millwork and doors that do not quite match the existing doors because they didn't pay attention to the details.... In the end, it was like pulling teeth to get this company to provide the skilled labor needed to complete the job. Would never use them again. Yosi is belligerent, and uses his loud voice to intimidate the customer into accepting the bad result. Overall a terrible 9 months with these charlatans. Also, their people left our water heater venting into our home, causing a buildup of CO2, which is toxic. read more

Our crawl space walls from foundation up have been wet since the January storms. I have contacted a few contractors to take a look at it and identify the issue. GBU Construction was most knowledgeable and professional. Yosi was very responsive from the beginning. On the day of the appointment, Juda came and brought an infrared camera with him. He thoroughly checked the area, and explained to me of his hypothesis of why water is getting in there. He was very knowledgeable, and showed a similar project he worked on to solve the water intrusion problem. He also gave me a quote on how to fix the problem. Basically water is getting inside from the stucco wall, and the gravity pulls it all at the bottom. I was impressed by my experience with GBU. They took the time and effort to help identify the issue, and I really appreciated it. Based on some information Juda provided, they do some great work with innovative products. If we do decide to redo the entire exterior wall (unfortunately it was only done 2 years ago), we'd definitely go with GBU. read more

I had significant water damage in my condo due to a plumbing leak from my upstairs neighbor. The drywall was damaged and stained the ceiling in multiple rooms. Yosi and his staff did an amazing job repairing the drywall, fixing floorboards, painting and making the condo look like new.
