He gave some great advice, and, frankly, he is the main reason we went with Synlawn. Installation was quick and done efficiently. Then it all went south! Mario said that it was great for pets, citing drainage and durability. It is not good if you have a puppy, which he knew we had, as puppies love to chew on things and the turf pulls out quite easily. Too, shortly after installation, we thought we had a ripple in the turf possibly due to installation. I contacted Mario and he said he would come by and take a look. We never heard from him again. To be honest, it turned out to be nothing, but, nonetheless, he never reached out again. After a couple of months was saw some discoloration around the fountain. I contacted Billy Bright, and he said it was due to the water from the fountain. He said to try CLR cleaner, which didn't change anything, and then he said to try GooGone, which also didn't work. He said Synlawn was not going to do anything about it, since it was due to the fountain. My point is, since it seems to be a known issue, why wasn't this mentioned at the time of the sale by our salesperson, Mario, with 17 years experience! The fountain has been in place long before the turf sale took place. Seemingly it is always what the salesperson doesn't tell you that comes back to bite you. Needless to say, that in no way can I recommend Synlawn to anyone. I am giving them one star as there is no zero.

We love our SYNLawn Synblue 745 lawn…read more Billy and Lou went going above and beyond in answering all my questions, coordinating with other warehouses so I could see samples in person while traveling (since they don't have local offices in the Bay Area, only Sacramento), and really diving in deep as I was analyzing every single detail + pros/cons of all the different turf lines as I was making my decision. Everyone was so patient and great. I probably called and talked to them at least 10+ times, Lou even answered my call while on vacation in Mexico! We only bought the turf and infill and used our own contractor to install in Oakland. However, I did about 6-12 months of research and sample gathering across many different turf companies and suppliers (WaterSavers, TigerTurf, SGS in LA, Heavenly Greens, BeeGreen, etc.) and SYNLawn's quality was consistently superior while also providing the most natural look. We also were considering the previous SynBlue 949 (which is no longer being manufactured) as it doesn't seem to require infill and many past customers in our area are extremely happy with it. It's super lush and felt very nice but has more of a yellowish hue when side-by-side with SynBlue 745. We also wanted to compare but weren't able to get a sample of the 545, but ultimately felt good about going with the higher density and face weight of the 745. Unfortunately, Yelp posted my pics in random order but you can see the general before and after. We're so thankful to have a wonderful place space for our kids, and to have found SYNLawn when we did (it was the last turf company I researched after someone recommended them from a neighborhood FB group). OTHER FINALISTS My other finalists were either Dune/Sage from SGS or an unidentified sample from Heavenly Greens. SGS to their credit was honest that those lines were meant for landscaping and may get matted down or have breakage over time with heavy play usage. We didn't enjoy the sales reps from Heavenly Greens and were unfortunately never able to narrow down the name of the sample we liked from them (there were no tags attached). Our neighbors installed Willow from WaterSavers, but it was not as plush or thick underfoot as the SynBlue 745, and not as natural in appearance. Overall, we're thrilled with our decision and hope this long overdue review helps someone else! (Our kids now use the other turf samples as "plates" on the turf when they play "restaurant." :))

What won me over with Turf World was: 1. Jason's transparency about the process with sending me his You Tube videos (the job went exactly as promised); 2. The turf itself was the best (was the closest replica to grass, the Catalina Pro was not the softest turf I sampled but was the sturdiest and prettiest and stood up the best like grass, and even my 6 year old daughter saw that it was the most realistic looking of 13 samples); 3) his communication, always prompt and complete, and 4) his price was the best. After researching this for 2 months, I went with Turf World and I am thrilled with the result. My advice? Go around and look at installations. Watch videos. I did and after a ton of consideration I went with Turf Word and I am a 100% happy and satisfied customer, And I'm not an easy target. PS remember as you are comparing the turf samples that soft turf flops easier. So it might feel nice, but when it falls flat and looks like a mini golf course after a month you are not going to be happy If you are wanting it to look like an actual lawn, like I did!)

So we decided to finally put the finishing touches to our front yard. We debated on whether to put…read morenatural grass or artificial turf, and we decided to go with artificial turf for a couple of reasons: First, we live in CA, and the mismanagement of water resources has caused the price of water to skyrocket. Secondly, a lot of the current turf looks very realistic and resembles natural grass. Third, I wouldn't have to mow the lawn anymore!! We put out the feelers on Sunday night at 8:30 pm, not expecting to get a reply until Monday morning, but Jacob from Verdigrass responded within 10 minutes! I, along with the wife was impressed by the quick response so we scheduled an estimate with Jacob for Wednesday. Jacob was very accommodating with my work schedule and actually came to my house by 8:00 am. Since Jacob was coming from Vallejo, I knew it was a long distance and he would have to leave very early in the morning, so again, we were impressed. My meeting with Jacob went very well. Since this was my first experience with artificial turf, I had a bunch of questions, which Jacob answered fully. It was also very helpful that he had several samples that I could see and feel. After getting my quote, which came in much lower than another company. We decided to go with Verdigrass due to the experience we had thus far with Jacob. Communication with Jacob was stellar, and he was able to schedule the job for Saturday morning. The material was dropped off on Friday, and Jacob's crew, headed by Juan, arrived at 0730 am, a half hour earlier than the 0800 am start Jacob had mentioned. The crew was efficient and highly knowledgeable and had the job done in approximately 5.5 hours! We could not be happier with our experience with Jacob, Juan and Verdigrass. Now we just have to save up enough money to do the backyard!

Generally speed and quality do not align but they have mastered the art. I've seen plenty of installs from other companies and without looking to hard you can find the seams. When Better Than Real is doing the install it's impossible. As a contractor I use them for all of our turf projects as well as my own home. If you need turf installed, don't bother going anywhere else.

He suggested excavating the old lawn, and then added new gravel and a full weed barrier before putting on the artificial turf. He showed us a few options of turf and also gave his recommendation. On the sides, he did the same and replaced the old mulch with 2-4" river rocks. He also added some African daisies and other fillers, and put in an olive tree upon request. Victor also went above and beyond by fixing our old drip system and taught us what to do with it! And as a bonus, he helped put in a small fruit in the backyard. Everything came out amazing and we get a ton of compliments from neighbors! He also got some extra business from neighbors who liked his work on our lawn and decided to use him for theirs! The owner Matt Watkins does not live in CA and doesn't have a grip on what he's doing. Good luck with trying to get them fix any warranty work as this falls under the subcontractor. They don't answer calls or emails if you have an issue or anything post install related. We've began a formal complain with the Contractors License Board and have began legal proceedings against Bay Area Turf. Due your due diligence and do not hire this company. You have been warned!

Fitting new cabinetry into an old wooden building required a lot of customization during installation, and Gregory was definitely up to the task - as mentioned by other reviewers he is easy to work with, creative, flexible, with an "incredible eye." He did all the installation and finishing himself (with a helper). To be fair, it took Gregory longer than he had estimated to make and install the cabinetry, but it was definitely worth the wait and he was very responsive and obliging throughout the process. The quality and value were top notch; the cost was about 50-60% that of the estimates I received from online cabinetry firms I contacted. Definitely a 5 star experience - thank you Gregory!

During planning, I spoke to a number of other contractors who wanted to use retrofit windows and just leave the siding in place. Alan took the time to explain the proper way that the building wrap, siding and windows had to interface to get waterproofing, and how we were better off replacing all three if we wanted to be sure we'd fix our problem. Even with this extra scope, Alan's pricing was very fair. Thank god we went with Alan. When they removed the existing siding, they found severe water damage underneath the siding and a subpar earlier repair job. When this surprise came up, Alan talked us through the damage and gave us our options. They ended up ripping up two layers of existing siding, cutting out damaged building sheathing and replacing it with new plywood, before proceeding with the job. The overrun costs were very reasonable and we never felt like Alan was taking advantage of us. The end result was great quality at a fair price, and peace of mind that our issues have been resolved and we won't have to worry about the front / roof for a long time now. I would definitely hire Alan again and would recommend him to anyone looking for this kind of work.

I found them on Yelp and their profile and reviews gave us the perception of a high quality and professional landscape company. as such I felt their pricing may be a bit high. I used Yelp to contact and communicate with them initially. Rachel impressively returned my request for information the same day. I also reached out to 2 other companies at the same time. My initial request was for weed clearing and contouring the front yard. They in fact quoted the highest price for this work. I then asked the three firms to quote the entire front yard landscaping project and this is where Go Green Landscape won me over. I had a plan sketch drawing of the yard with dimensions and notes of what we were looking for. Daniel came out to review this with me. He was patience and knowledgeable to the point where I felt comfortable working with Go Green. (I suggest you have some plans prepared so they can quote properly.) I gave them materials and finishes we desired and wanted to match some existing work we had done. Their quote came back detailed and precise. Everything was documented and clear. Granted we went back and forth a few times to make sure all items, details and costs were accounted for but Rachel handled this like a champ. Dorian, Francisco, Eli and the Team came out to start work. Let me just say these guys know what they are doing. They cleared the front yard in the first day! Then area by area, section by section they worked with me to bring our front yard concept to life. We opted for a super low maintenance design. Retaining wall blocks, pavers, crushed rock, artificial turf and river rock. The quality of care and professional work they provided will impress you. They went back and forth to dump site to drop off waste and to vendors to pick up materials as needed. They shifted workers from job to job as the work progressed. WOW! I just finished a huge kitchen remodel project with the help of Yossi and Jordan. My kitchen looks spectacular!! I initially saw them working at my neighbors house on Dolores street in the city (San Francisco) and stopped by to take a look and was seriously impressed. I had trouble finding a contractor who could meet my timeframe and budget but after meeting with them and going over the project they were able to work with me. I could not have completed such a big renovation like this without them. Yossi and Jordan remained professional and honest throughout the whole project and kept me in the loop the entire time. I originally opted for a black backsplash but after seeing the painting on the cabinets i was hesitant to ask them to change it but with no problem they were able to order and switch the back splash within a few days. Yosi and the GBU team were incredible partners in our remodel. We just bought a new house and wanted to rip out and redo the interior including fixing a number of structural issues like fixing the roof and plumbing leaks, as well as cosmetics improvements like new floors, kitchen bathrooms, patching and painting walls etc. We spoke to a number of contractors/partners and Yosi was by far the best. My wife and I was looking for contractors to do our garage conversion , we interviewed few contractors, GBU and Yosi was really affordable and have done the job in the time they promised they will . We had our electrical upgraded with new 2 bathrooms 2 bedrooms and backyard pavers . Yosi make sure to explain all the potential extras that can be. We was ready for all . Jose was helpful every step of the way. The estimate was fair and the project did not stray from the original estimate. They passed every inspection without any issues and were clearly familiar with the permitting process in SF. They proactively identified issues with my new roof installation and replacement windows. Addressing these issues delayed the project, but ensured that the work they were doing wouldn't be compromised. There was also an area of damage that was not identifiable until the walls were torn down. Luckily, Jose had warned me ahead of time that this was possible, and the change order was reasonable. All the workers were respectful when entering my home and knowledgable in their craft. I asked many questions along the way and they took the time to help address any concerns I had. Thank you to Johnny and Zen who handled the carpentry work and Mariano and Benjamin who handled the painting! I would not hesitate to hire them again and highly recommend them to anyone considering a similar project.

There work was top notch and I really feel like I got my dream kitchen and bathroom. Throughout the process Yosef kept saying they wouldn't leave until I was happy, and they stayed true to their word. You don't hear many, if any, businesses say something like that anymore, much less mean it. When we hit speed bumps, as all remodel projects do, the team was great at adjusting and finding solutions. I needed an emergency repair on my brother's front foot of his condo. The front door was locked in…read moreresulting in the frame around the door jam being shattered. I used Yelp to send a project to five companies that stated the nature of the problem and photos of the damage, and for those that responded within 24-hours, I asked specifically how they were going to repair the door frame. The cheapest quote stated that he would push in the damaged frame and glue it in place. Next . . . The most expensive quoted $150 an hour, plus materials. They stated that the entire door frame needed to be changed. Hmm. Maybe . . . The second lowest quote was by the Be James Team. They stated that their rate was $99 an hour (minimum two hours, but this project took longer), plus materials. Based on the photos they recommend a partial replacement of the door frame. They had a next-day opening in their schedule, and sent two technicians to the condo. The inspection revealed that this particular frame was problematic due to the construction and materials used, and replacement would be a two-day job. After a discussion with me stating that the time and cost of replacing the entire frame or even one side would be astronomical, they decided to replace a portion of the frame around the shattered door jam area, and then reinforce the side - a cheaper, but still a strong option. Six hours later, a single technician completed the job. The frame looks like new, complete with matching paint. The technician also cleaned the area of dust and debris. I am happy with the results. I used A2Z Remodeling for renovating my kitchen in 2025, and highly recommend them…read more I chose to contact them because of their great reviews on Yelp. In the initial meeting with Project Manager Yves, he walked me through the process and answered my many questions. This was all very helpful as I have never done a kitchen reno before, and Yves demonstrated his knowledge and "can do" attitude. Yves also mentioned that the crew working on my kitchen would be dedicated to my project until it was done, a big plus in my opinion. After this meeting I felt reasonably confident that A2Z Remodeling was a good choice. Prior to contacting A2Z I had gotten quotes from a few cabinet makers, thinking that A2Z would only provide general contractor services. But A2Z also has a cabinet design service, so they provided a quote. The design created by A2Z's designer, Marissa, was great so I had no concerns there. However, the quote was less pricey than all the other quotes and I then spent lots of time researching cabinet construction, trying (with limited success) to compare the quality of the materials used in the different bids. A2Z's cabinet supplier is Kraftview out of San Leandro, and ultimately, I went to their showroom in San Leandro to inspect the cabinets in person which and that alleviated all my concerns, they looked great and were very high quality (plywood construction, soft close, full extension drawers, etc.). I am very happy I chose A2Z to supply the cabinetry, for two big reasons: 1) Their supplier, Kraftview, is local, so fast turnaround. Some of the other quotes were for cabinets manufactured overseas and it would take months to get them. And if there were any problems, months to get replacements. And indeed, there was a couple problems with cabinets that needed correction and A2Z was able to get things fixed with only a small delay to the project. 2) A2Z was fully responsible for the cabinets: They took the measurements, did the design, ordered them, and installed them. If there were any problems or unexpected issues they took care of it. Whereas if another company was supplying the cabinets I expect I would have had been a lot more involved in resolving issues. One example is that when the demolition of the old kitchen was done, there was an unexpected pipe sticking out of the wall which we had not accounted for in the cabinet design, A2Z took care of it. Another example is that one of the cabinet fronts had some slight damage on it and A2Z had it replaced, I didn't even know about that until Yves mentioned it after the fact. The cabinet design process went really well. Marissa was fantastic to work with. Her design was great out of the gate and she was very open to iteration, mainly me changing little nitpicky things, then sometimes realizing it was a bad idea and changing it back. I visited their showroom in Oakland many times and it was really nice to be able to talk things over in person with her, and she gave me a ton of great suggestions. The crew working on the job were top notch. As promised, it was the same crew for the entire time and they took care of everything: Demolition, Plumbing, Electrical, Inspections, Floor Installation, Cabinet Installation, Appliance Installation, Painting, Lighting. They were careful to keep things clean and not damage floor, doors or anything. They abided by the HOA rules, and I received no complaints from my neighbors. Along the way there were small hiccups and bumps, but nothing major and A2Z would take care of it. One example was that some of the cabinets arrived missing the grooves needed to install the LED lights, there were a few options on how to proceed and I thought we could make one of the lesser options works, but Yves convinced me that we shouldn't take shortcuts and we took them back to the factory to get properly fixed. Yves and the crew were very focused on making the whole process as smooth as possible and making sure I was happy with the results. Highly recommended!

I showed the issue to the owner, and instead of a high-pressure pitch, he gave us several honest options to fix it. I'll admit I was dreading the concrete work--I expected a massive, dusty headache. However, the crew was incredible. They made the entire process as smooth as possible and were extremely clean and respectful of our space while they worked. They actually finished the project right on time, which is rare these days! Pricing was fair and transparent, with no surprises. As you can see from the before and after photos, the transformation is amazing. What used to be a leaky problem area is now a gorgeous media room that we love spending time in.
