A great place to get picture frames and they have plenty in styles , colors , sizes , etc. My buddy who lives in Greenpoint told me about this shop as he had a few old paintings which needed new frames and he was very happy with the outcome and that's good enough for me . Had 3 paintings that have been in my family for many years but the old frames were in really bad shape and the kind gentleman who operates this frame store was able to match each painting with identical frames for each painting and prices are reasonable and even better is the high quality of each frame . Would recommend Greenpoint frames 100 percent and now I just have to find room on my walls for each painting. 4.5 stars on my yelp meter. read more

Excellent frame shop! I took a very long and odd-sized vintage train map here to be framed for my husband, as a surprise. Our budget was tight but since this was such a great map at such an odd size, it became a fun challenge to figure it out. They worked with me very patiently to find the perfect solution aesthetically and price-wise. I found the guys there to be absolutely a pleasure with which to work. And they were great with my young kids-so being child friendly is a plus! I would definitely go back again with another frame job! Excellent little spot for custom picture framing in Greenpoint. We got a semi-complicated custom mat and frame for a pretty large piece for a little over $250. There is a good selection of framing options to choose from and the owner worked with us to find the right match at the right price. They also have a great selection of standard-sized frames if you don't feel like shelling out the cash for a custom job, many of which are available for less than $20. To top it off, the owners are super sweet, really enjoy framing and have been in business for more than 20 years in the same spot. Support this great local business! read more

Love these people. They have framed every piece in my apartment and do a great job. Take a lot of time working with you to find the best mat/frame combination for any given print. Husband/wife team runs the place and they are nothing but pleasant and helpful. I'm just bummed that they stopped developing film and taking passport photos. I go here for the inexpensive, quick film developing. $7 for a roll with no prints (just the CD) compared to $10 at most places in the city. They've never taken longer than 2 hours, and I've never had an issue with any of the 5 or so rolls I've had developed there. My only complaint is that they've been closed the last three days without notice on their window. So I haven't been able to pick up my photos, making me late for a client. A bit annoying, but it is labor day weekend. read more

Friendly owner is always super helpful. I like art but am clueless when it comes to how to frame it. I've gotten two pieces done with Imagic this past year and I'm thrilled with the results which I don't think I would have gotten elsewhere. He really spends time with you to make sure you're happy with framing. More expensive than some other basic places or going somewhere like Michaels, but the price is on par with better frame shops that I've used in the past. Just wanted to point out that they no longer do any kind of photography services -- my husband and I found this out when we came in with a bag full of disposable cameras from our wedding we wanted to get developed. So don't come here if you want passport photos, film developing, etc. However, this IS an awesome frame shop. Though we came in for developing, we wound up leaving with two pre-fab frames for our wedding and honeymoon pics. Pleasant surprise! They have a great selection of pre-fab frames, though I haven't used them yet for custom framing work. Still, nice people, good store. I'd recommend. read more

My fiancée and I recently moved to Williamsburgh and was excited when I purchased 2 paintings from street vendor artists in SoHo. I , out of convenience, chose this place not far from us. After ,spending about an hour with a sales associate, I choose proper framing and was directed to the store owner for pricing. I found her to be abrupt and "non negotiable" ....after 15 minutes of discussion, her final offer was $1600....I was willing to pay $1500....she said no and insulted me by saying that I wasted her time. She did me a great favor. It was rude and unprofessional. We walked out and visited 567 framing Brooklyn , and was treated professionally by Hiro and purchased exact the same framing for $750.I'm very pleased with the result . read more

They have always been extremely helpful and done great work, even with old frames that need new glass, have old nails, and need extra love. Maybe it's too hot, and maybe I am cranky, but pretty unimpressed by this place. Perhaps their framing is great, but I went in for printing and left fuming. I dropped off a CD of large files, was told they would be ready the next day and when I went to pick them up got a list of confusing contradictory reasons for why they weren't done - at first he said it was a copyright problem, which it wasn't they are my images, have had them printed this way many times. Next it was that the files weren't jpgs or tiff, which they were, they were all tiffs. And lastly it was that the files were too big, yes, they were big files, but he looked at them when I dropped the cd off and didn't seem to have a problem with them then. If you can't print them for whatever reason, fine, but don't waste my time with bulls#@t excuses. read more

I have been rudely told "no" so many times in this place i've lost count. So much to the point that i am actually joining yelp just to write this review. I've asked them to place a piece of custom glass that they've ordered for me into a frame i brought in...."NO!" I've asked them to order a custom sized frame for me and "NO! We don't do frames that small in custom sizes." I've asked them to cut a piece of frame for me that i needed to be a 1/4" smaller and again, "NO." So the here i am on my third strike. I have never seen such rude customer service in my life. read more

She evaluates the piece and asks about the room and home decor before she makes suggestions. I might need to explore some other options but inevitably I almost always go with her first choice. Over my 6 years in Greenpoint I have had 8 fairly large pieces custom framed by Yang at Imagic Studio. She always gives suggestions to make the final framed product look fantastic. I've used custom framing shops in Manhattan in the past but the final product never looked as good as Imagic, the staff wasn't as friendly and the price was higher. I have sent a few friends to Imagic over the years and they always thank me for the recommendation. I honestly wouldn't use anyone else for my custom framing. read more

an artist whose painting and collage work i bought recommended imagic for the framing. this was a few years ago, and since then i've had about 30 different pieces done here, everything from large canvases and photos to small sculptures to things that probably shouldn't be framed but hey, why not. if you're reading this, i doubt you need to be convinced that the frame and presentation often 'make' the piece. especially with bizarre art or 'is this really art?' type art, a smart frame job elevates the work. a $10 print, smartly framed, can look hundreds of times its worth. etc., etc. paul and yang are unbelievably creative framers. over the years they've had so many great ideas for me - pairing really obtuse pieces with beautiful heavy wood frames, or using a seemingly extreme matte or frame size to accentuate the intimacy of a small photo. every piece is delivered ready to hang, with strong metal wiring and nail/supports provided too. i admittedly would never get around to hanging anything if they didn't do this. art handling stuff: they are very thoughtful, and have millions of options for floating frames and acid-free mattes and experimenting with different kinds of glass. they're also very happy to tell you if they think something 'protective' is wrong or overkill. i've come to rely on their point of view. next year is their 20th year in business. i know i'm not alone in feeling this way! mostly i find paul and yang deeply humble and empathetic. their job is making people's work look beautiful, and making other people feel the same way you feel about that work too. coming in here is weirdly inspiring - kind of what you hope a small frame shop in new york would be. i recommend it. read more
