It was handed down to my husband from his parents, who received it from their church in Mexico before they left for the US. I read a recent review on here that mentioned the shop was "completely locked and closed on 11/24." My appointment to see Jeff was that same day and I had no problems at all. Being that there's a pandemic and it's a relatively small shop, you do have to give Jeff a call when you arrive outside, and there's a sign on the building that clearly says that with his number. Personally, I appreciated this, and that Jeff is doing everything to keep his customers safe. Not sure why that would be upsetting to someone - but I'm all about that level of precaution. The piece is fantasy style and she had after much going back and forth found 2 frames in a fantasy style, one had similar colors in the frame to the needlepoint ABSOLUTE PERFECTION! She also allowed my 9 month old poodle into the store as well. I have more needlepoints that need to be framed and I will keep coming back to get them framed. Most of my art is from comic artists I love, or fine artists I know personally. The problem is, I really need my art framed in such a way that I know I'm not going to need to re-do it in five years. Enter these guys. I go out of my way to visit Brooklyn Heights because of these guys. Steve, the gentle-giant who owns the shop, knows what he's talking about, and I found out that everything is framed with archival materials. Let me repeat that- you get museum quality supplies here. Steve always works with me to get the frame I need, and I feel I've gotten a completely custom job here every time. AND they're friendly here. It goes a long way! For reference, I've gotten everything from a simple metal poster frame here, to floating artworks with UV-protected glass.

She didn't even look at them, just arched a brow and me and said, "Doesn't anyone read signs anymore?" LB does not let more than two people in her store at the same time. Covid. Once she got me going with selecting my matte and framing, she came back and said, "Well. Look at you. You got it." A Park Slope mom came in, apologized for her late pick up. LB said, six feet apart, "You have the ten dollar courtesy fee? Cash." ($10? Seems reasonable enough.) "Yes." A beat. "You're a good woman." A pause. "So are you." LB is a good woman. She knows her craft, has been on Myrtle forever. I keep talking about her, her je ne sais quoi, and no one I know has encountered many women framers, let alone a Black woman framer who owns her own business. I had a piece of art that needed to make it from NY to Chicago. Smaller pieces had made it back in…read moremy suitcase separated by padding and cardboard but this one was too large to fit in a suitcase. I had been advised over the phone by another frame shop to have a custom wooden crate made for shipping. The art has some value but that seemed like overkill. I called San Art Framing and they said they could pack it safely in a inner box enclosed in an outer box with appropriate padding. Conveniently, the framing has plexiglass rather than glass so that issue didn't have to be dealt with. I brought the piece in. San Art packed it and had it ready the next day. UPS delivered it and all is well. San Art Framing knows what they are doing and they got the job done.
