If you want a contractor who will properly install your roof and honors their warranties when there is an issue then look somewhere else. They were fine to work with at first, their salesman was very responsive and helpful with working with insurance. But he left the company shortly after the insurance was approved and the contract was signed, and then it quickly became so hard to get a hold of anyone at the company. We went through 3 different project managers with them, each one worse than the last. It took months to get the roof and siding replaced, then months later I found out they weren't paying their supplier because that supplier threatened to put a lien on my house. We finally got that resolved in November and I thought I was finally done with them. But, now our brand new roof is leaking, I have water coming out of a light fixture, and water spots forming on my ceiling and getting them out here to do anything about it has proved impossible. This is supposed to be covered under their warranty their owner, Jeremiah, told me it would fall under their warranty and he'd be out in a week to take a look. That was well over a month ago at this point. Since then it's been almost impossible to get in contact with him. He doesn't answer his phone, or the company phone, and doesn't really respond to texts. When he does, it's just to say he'll be over in the next couple days, and that inevitably passes without him showing up or communicating to me in anyway. Dealing with First Edge has been nothing short of a nightmare, if you value your property being fixed properly, and a warrantied work actually meaning anything find another contractor. This one is not it.

Deiter, our Project Manager, was exceptional: thorough, patient with questions, and consistently responsive. He walked us through multiple design options and kept me informed about any scheduling changes. Eric and his electricians expertly handled our electrical service upgrade, dealt with our old house's electrical complexities, and seamlessly added an EV charger during the project. Their pricing was competitive with four other quotes (local and national), but Deiter's knowledge and the company's strong local reputation made the difference. My instinct that they'd do the job right proved correct: they delivered quality work with excellent communication throughout.

Also, Aloha didn't call me 20 times a day like other companies. Communication was easy and timely. It was easy to ask questions and have discussions. Jon, the owner, talked to me like an actual human being. Jon is pleasant and was on top of everything throughout the entire process and kept me informed. The installation itself was minimally disruptive. Our solar system just got turned on, it looks great, and the estimate is that it'll pay for itself (factoring in federal/state incentives) in three years. He was always available to quickly respond to anything we did not understand whether by voice, text or email. He provided his proposal quickly and made changes immediately until we were satisfied and then explained the financing options clearly. We decided to go with the financing even though we will pay off the system right away due to timing and zero interest if you pay it off within a certain period. In the end we went with 23 of the 410 watt Jinko panels which will provide approximately 9000 KwH per year. They sit on a west facing roof. (Your mileage will vary due to which direction your roof faces and shading from nearby trees.) We signed the contract in August 2022 and went out of town for 2 weeks in September. When we got back Ailey scheduled us for early October. (This is a bit faster than normal as they had two other customers ahead of us that could not go that week.) The install itself went great. Eric did a through analysis beforehand and mapped out the system clearly for the crew. They had 5 guys here for 3 days and all of them were aces. Very polite and professional they really knew their business. The electrician Joe, takes pride in his work and and it shows. His install was clean and it looks great too. Crew Leader Matt was clear answering questions and setting expectations. I was comfortable enough with all of them that I left them on their own for 4 or 5 hours on days 1 and 2. Along the way they noticed that our 150 year old house was not grounded properly so they pounded in two, eight foot grounding rods and connected the system, and our house, to them for no extra charge! Like I said they know what they are doing. They scheduled the Barrington Village inspection quickly after the job was done making sure to check with us first on the timing. Eric came back to meet with the inspector and Matt returned to add some fire stop caulk (an inspector's go to when they can't find anything wrong - lol) and a couple stickers. They had a bit of trouble connecting the system to our internet due to the Eero system we have. Matt explained that there is a cellular kit most other solar installers use that would have worked flawlessly but it had a catch. It was free for the first five years then you had to pay monthly to continue to have access to the system. He solved the connectivity problem, saving us from an unexpected future bill explaining that they go the extra mile for their customers which pretty much sums up our experience with Ailey. Overall, going with Ailey for our solar system proved to be an excellent decision.

Panels were activated in January 2023. Before the contract was signed, representatives from Ailey took the time to come out to the property, went on the roof and checked the electrical. They also successfully navigated issues that came up as the project progressed. Everything is working as expected; expected annual production is approximately 119,000 kWh. Paragon Insulation has done an excellent job for me twice this year. The first time in January, I…read morehad Randy come out to quote attic sealing and insulation. While he was there to provide the quote, he noticed the kitchen floor was really cold (he took off his shoes when he entered the house). He pulled out his thermal camera and we saw the floor was 30-40F! I had noticed that area of the kitchen was cold in winter, but didn't realize it was coming from the floor, where kitchen is cantilevered out past the foundation wall. He proposed insulating the cantilevered area with spray foam, and then said he could insulate all the rim joists in the basement for the same price. A week or so later, while he was onsite doing the insulating, I mentioned I was going to finish the basement later in the year, and expected to use 3 inch foam panels. He suggested using spray foam instead since that would give me a few inches more space in the room. He gave me a price and I said I'd think about it. As I thought about it, I realized getting a few more inches in the room, and also getting a better sealing product would be worth it, and would save me many hours of labor and a lot of material costs. In summer, I started work on the basement project, and once I had the framing up and electrical roughed in, I called (now July) to schedule the spray foam. Randy honored the price from January, scheduled the job quickly, and it looks great! Something I especially appreciate about Randy and Paragon is that the guy who quotes the job actually does the job; it's not some sales guy, it's the owner who quotes AND does the work! Because of that, any questions get answered and you know exactly who is accountable for quality and completion. I did get other quotes for the attic, and Paragon was very competitive. I really appreciated Randy's suggestions, and they did not feel like a sales pitch; it felt like I was getting good options to consider that would solve a problem I had.

The scope of work included removal of the existing insulation, air sealing around all attic entry points, sanitizing, air baffle installation, and installation of new Weather Blanket cellulose insulation. What made the difference was Randy's willingness to walk me through the entire plan and clearly explain what justified the investment. That transparency, combined with the comfort of working with a local, owner-operated business, made the decision easy. The crew came in and completed the job in about half a day -- fast, efficient, and clean. The entire process was documented with photos and videos, all of which were included with the final invoice. While up in the attic, they even took the time to correct some substandard work a prior contractor had left behind on my bathroom exhaust fans. I couldn't be happier with the results. I've already noticed a meaningful improvement in temperature consistency and overall comfort throughout my home.
