I signed up with Greenix during a stressful period when I was dealing with a pest problem. They sent out technicians who admitted they were unable to treat for the target pest, even though I signed up for service SPECIFICALLY FOR THAT PEST. I ended up resolving that problem on my own, but kept the quarterly service going because they had signed me up for a year contract. After my most recent interaction, I canceled immediately -- and I want others to understand why.
During what should have been a routine visit (and, probably importantly, the last before my contract was up), the technician texted me claiming, "You have a rodent infestation." That's a serious accusation, and I asked for proof. What followed felt less like professional pest control and more like a high-pressure sales tactic.
He sent a blurry photo of my outdoor AC unit (attached) and made vague references to "holes and tunnels" around my house. No photos of the supposed tunnels were provided. I was also told my bait stations weren't effective, even though they had untouched bait and visible spiderwebs -- a clear sign nothing had been inside them. I also have 6 dogs in this house, 4 of which are terriers and have absolutely hunted and killed a few rodents in this yard in the 15 years I've lived here. Is it possible rodents enter my yard from time to time? Absolutely, it's OUTSIDE, they live outside. Are they "infesting" my yard? Extremely doubtful. I also keep traps baited and set in my house and I haven't caught anything in there in years.
The most disturbing part? The technician claimed rodents were in my AC unit and said this was a fire hazard -- with no evidence whatsoever. Using that kind of language without proof is not only unprofessional, it's manipulative. If that kind of hazard actually existed, it would be urgent and serious -- not something to casually toss out in a sales pitch.
When I got home:
* I inspected the AC unit thoroughly -- it had some damp leaves, but no signs of nesting, damage, or droppings.
* My bait stations were undisturbed.
* I walked the entire perimeter of my home and saw no tunnels, holes, or rodent activity.
* I even checked my motion cameras -- nothing but a neighborhood cat.
The whole situation felt like an attempt to prey on homeowner anxiety to upsell rodent services I clearly didn't need. I've kept my home extremely well-monitored, and there was nothing to support the claims being made.
And honestly, even if they were providing competent service, they are still very expensive.
If you're considering Greenix, be cautious. A reputable pest control company should present clear evidence, explain concerns respectfully, and avoid emotionally charged or fear-based tactics -- especially when referencing serious risks like fire hazards. This experience was a complete breach of that trust. read more
