Nice grounds, nice employees, great wine tasting, wine, and pie We chose this place because we were hungry. Our group did not like the food we ordered and our seats/table (plastic) were quite uncomfortable. I would think a caterer could make tastier brisket and the nachos were like something you'd order at a movie theater or bowling alley. No one liked their sandwiches. We have known about this place for several years. My wife has always loved their wine. Especially the raspberry wine. Since I'm not much of a wine drinker it was suggested by lady doing our tasting to try the pies. On a prior visit I did have the cheesecake with strawberries. This time we bought a raspberry pie. OMG the pie is by far the best fruit pie I've every tasted. Most of the time berry pies are kind of just ok. Greendance bakery pies are loaded to the top with raspberries. So if your not big on wine go try the bakery and who doesn't love pie. read more

I can't speak highly enough of this winery. They came through for us at the very last minute. My Dad passed away and we were able to hold a family luncheon that complied with Covid restrictions because of Susan and Amy. Also, their blackberry wine and Reiseling are amazing. This place is one of my favorite wineries- reminds me of a quaint secret garden...however I can never go here anymore since I am terrified of birds and they have Guinea hens loose everywhere not to mention many of the guests feed them so if they aren't near you, they will end up flocking to you due to the people near you feeding them. I believe there was even a peacock there before. read more

I'm not a wine buff, but my positive review is for the overall ambience of this place. Such an awesome place to come and buy a bottle of wine and share it at one of the outdoor tables. In the summer, they have live music on weekends and it's a fun place to be. They have a lovely tasting room and very professional setup. Definitely worth visiting. read more

I have always loved going to Greendance Winery because I loved the idea of having this type of concept in our area. However, I think from now on, I will choose ANY OTHER similar venue. It has become annoying that if you wish to bring your own food, or snack items, you are forced to sit in an area that is not near the bandstand. It is difficult to understand why they have decided to alienate customers who wish to bring their own picnic. Isn't buying the wine from them enough? Their food choices are limited, and quite expensive. For example, to purchase hamburgers for 3 people would have been in excess of $50. Then you would have to purchase the wine in addition. But what is more annoying is the fact that they station staff to check your purses and tote bags TO BE SURE YOUR AREN'T sneaking in your own food. It's insulting. I've been to wineries in Napa, Sonoma, New York, etc and NO ONE ELSE does that!!!!! When we informed staff of this, the response was... "well, we are the most successful winery in the area." Really? We were so excited to visit your winery today, July 22, 2016. Until.....we arrived and were looked up and down rather snootily by your sommelier (and by far that is a stretch of imagination). We were not told that 6 tastings were the limit. Your employee wouldn't even let my husband taste a wine that he requested to taste as his second choice! Then in front of two other groups of people she told my husband that he was only allowed 6 tastings and that he was "well beyond that". Well, your employee first didn't tell us that 6 was the limit (do you have a sign?) and secondly wouldn't let my husband taste what he wanted. We typically purchase between 6-12 bottles of wine when visiting a winery. Sad to say we left with less than half of what we intended to buy. Your employee made it seem as we were intruding and not welcome because of something we did or didn't do (???). Maybe there is some etiquette rule we broke..... All said we won't be back. Such a great setting and a gorgeous tasting room. On the site of one of my favorite locations around, Sand Hill Berries, Greendance has blossomed over the last few years as their selection and quality of wines has improved significantly, partly because they've managed to learn from their early releases. There is a huge tasting menu and they are generous in the number of wines they'll let you sample during one visit. If your tastes run to the slightly sweet white wines typical of this climate, you're in luck. They have a lot to choose from. On the red side, they don't quite measure up to what I like but they're certainly among the best Western PA wineries for sure. They take advantage of the resources around them (BERRIES) and make a lot of wines from the local crop. So you'll see strawberry wine and a host of other fruit wines. Prices range from low teens to nearly $40 (for their reserve cab). They also stock homemade items that are sure to please. If you've not been here it's worth a trip. Make sure you stop at the "Berry Farm" and pick up some cookies or pies. Then stroll into the winery and grab a bottle, grab a seat outside under the trees, and have yourself a little picnic! Beautiful setting music, food , and gift shop. They are also a berry farm. The wines were ok, we tried. 7 and only bought 2. We had 2 pourers; one of which wasn't a very good salesperson, or helpful in suggesting wines based on our preferences that might have been comparable to their stock. read more

We absolutely loved everything about it here ! It is a wonderful place to go on a weekend afternoon with a group of ladies and pack a picnic ! We had a tasting first and the ladies that helped us choose were a blast ! They added a wonderful touch to our day! Two of us prefer a dryer red wine and the others liked sweet fruit wines, rest assured they do have something for everyone. The red reserve was our first favorite and the Cabernet was our second ! We stayed from 1-6 and had a great time ! It is a must go spot ! read more

While on a road trip, I wanted to stop at Sand Hill Berries to get one of the famous pies that my coworkers have told me about and came across Greendance Winery. The display cases are beautiful, the wine is delicious, and the setting is remote and gorgeous. I would love to come here in the summer time when the live entertainment is going on, as the one employee told us about during our wine sampling. We talked with Linda for a while about the different wines and she was a wonderful source of information on the sweet wine, fruit wines, and their version of the ice wine. We ended up getting 9 bottles in our group of 4 and promised her to be back soon. read more

As a rule I don't do to many product reviews. But since I haven't had the pleasure of visiting the winery, my review is about the fruit wine they produce. I was lucky this last Oct. to be in Pittsburgh for a conference. Just down the street is the Market Square Farmers Market and I went hunting for some Black Berry Wine that I had seen the year before but didn't purchase. After a little looking and a small amount of worry, I found the stand in a new location just off the Square that allowed them to serve samples. No Black Berry wine. My disappointment was only momentary when I saw the Red Raspberry, Rhubarb, and Black Currant Desert Wine. I've always wanted to try some wine from other fruits and I was not disappointed. All 3 were to me, SPECTACULAR! Each was special in it's own way. Not your normal wines. More flavor, more pleasure and just as much complexity as most of the far more expensive wines I've ever tried. When the Black Berry was finally bottled and available I ended up ordering a case of different wines not at the Market. 3 Pear wines went to co-workers. The 2 (bosses) that tried it loved it. Sort of in between a Muscat and a Riesling. Delicious. I could not honestly pick one being the best. The Strawberry is probably my favorite with the Black Berry and Red Raspberry close behind. You should take into consideration that all of these wines are Sweet and Succulent compared to most Grape wines. None of them are dry, thank goodness. I like a wine that makes my mouth water with delight, not pucker with faked enjoyment. I'm also against describing a wine as having a bunch of odd sounding flavors you wouldn't want to have in your mouth to begin with. So I'll tell you what my boss said when opening the Pear wine. "The moment I uncorked it, everyone around could smell the luscious pear fragrance coming out of the bottle. It went fast." So if you want a good lightly sweet fruit wine to turn your friends unto and make a great impression, buy some of these. If you want a fantastic treat, mix the Red Raspberry, Black Berry, Rhubarb, Pear, Strawberry and Black Current Desert Wines together for your next party and tell everyone that asks it's "Ambrosia from Heaven" and say no more until they beg. read more

Arrived at the winery close to lunch time and had to wait awhile for the wine tasting due to the lunch event crowd checking in. Tried the dry wines and the Black Currant wine. They were all excellent tasting. Purchased several bottles along with some gifts. Will definitely go back even though it's a 3 hour drive. Not much information was discussed during the tasting about the process of making their wines. Only 30 percent of the wines are made from their locally grown grapes. All others are with grapes from California. Nice outside seating area. No tasting fee. Choose a choice of 6 samples. read more

Arrived with my daughter for a pleasant day. Ordered food, pies, and many bottles of wine, then listened to the music while seated at an outside table. We sat next to one of the many apple trees that were surrounding us and noticed that some where overripe, I stood up to pick one to taste to decide if I wanted to come back in the fall for pies and was immediately approached by one the owners who was blonde that I found out later was probably Amy. She told me that I was taking their livelihood and not permitted to pick one, then curtly walked away. There were no signs saying that I could not do that, and the apple I did pick was actually rotten. It turned out to be a very negative experience, I realized that we had spent over $90.00 and that there was a kinder way of telling a customer that the apple was off limits. I won't be returning, Amy needs to be nicer, that attitude works for school teachers not business owners. read more

Upon visiting the winery (which I've done countless times) for my friends birthday... I was quite thrown off that they had 2 individuals checking bags for outside food. I completely understand that they are now selling expensive food and don't want you bringing in meals from other restaurants. However, one friend took chips in and was sent to take them back to the car. She was allowed to enter after taking them back. The ladies doing the wine tasting were nice. Upon finding a seat and buying MULTIPLE bottles of wine. A friend took out a bag of pretzels. A guy came around to SHAME our group. He was extremely condescending. Greendance winery needs to realize that some people have health conditions where they need certain foods and shaming the people that are spending almost $20 per bottle of wine for having a bag of pretzels is RIDICULOUS! If I took out a bag of pretzels at a restaurant... I guarantee id never be yelled at for it! Like I said, i totally understand not wanting people bringing in meals, but pretzels? Having a man say "let me check your bags" upon arriving had already left a bad taste in our mouths but when he came around to check.... I will take my money elsewhere! Health problems are real and I felt like a criminal having pretzels there for my friend. read more
