The gift shop area is full of fascinating items for purchase as well as some historical information about the town which we loved! The staff were friendly and welcoming. Whether you're stopping in Georgetown to 'tourist' or just passing by, an easily accessible and clean place to 'pit-stop' is always welcome. They have a small, but cute gift shop with an assortment of Colorado mountain-style gifts (surprise!). There are also vending machines in the center with assorted beverages and snacks. And of course there are maps and various brochures for local attractions. And staff to answer your questions. I live somewhat locally and pass through Georgetown a few times a year. I do wish they would repair the locks on the couple of restroom stalls that don't lock. Minor nit, but I've noticed the door-locks on the same stalls being broken (or still broken) every time I'm there. Also the last time I was here (last week), I thought I saw only three picnic tables in their nice tree-shaded grassy area next to the parking lot. Didn't there used to be more? I always thought it would be a decent spot to stop and have a picnic, but with so few tables... Budget cuts pretty much suck.

Now it's a place to potty on a trip thru the mountains or park for a couple of hikes, both on this side of the street and the other! If you cross the street you can access the Stanly Mountain trail, or if you stay on the same side, you can access Mt Flora and a couple others

Clean and modern rest area surrounded by trees in a park like setting…read more There is an easily accessed RV dump station, dog walks with provided clean up bags, and a short trail down to various spots along the Eagle River. The trail to me was perfect, easy and short but watch for roots that might trip you up. When you need to stretch your legs and get a few minutes of nature and the white noise roar of the river this is a welcome refresher. The restrooms were clean and did not smell bad nor were they stuffy. It's clear the folks who maintain it and the nearby down care about making travelers feel welcome and safe. Tip, some of the auto parking is down a little hill but close to the river. If the hill is a challenge for you ignore this area and the handicap spots and keep going. Right around the corner is flat parking with a flat accessible access to the restrooms. Also note there is no over night camping and no camping in the lobby even if the weather is bad. You'll have to head to a real campground or nearby hotel.

We were there briefly to use their clean facilities and I got attacked by the bugs a few times. Two of the visitors had welts all over their bodies. It is one mile north of Grand Lake and just south of the park entrance station on U.S. Highway 34 (Trail Ridge Road). I did the long 40+ mile drive from Estes Park to here and was happy to finally get out of the car and walk around. It is a nice visitor center with restrooms, paper map, books, merchandise and exhibits with information about the park. There are park rangers on hand to answer questions that you may have. You can get permits and information about backcountry camping and hiking in the park at this visitor center. After spending a week in Rocky Mountain National Park, I enjoyed checking out the topographical map of the park and seeing all of the places that I visited. I covered a lot of ground while I was here. The Tonahutu Spur Trail starts outside the visitor center near the parking lot. Sadly, a fire burned up many of the trees on this trail years back. Don't forget to get your national park passport book stamped while at the visitor center.
