Carbdondale is 14 miles away and 20-25 minutes. It is a beautiful drive between the two and was great exploring another mountain town. The Distillery Inn is a breath of fresh air. They offer five rooms. One is downstairs adjacent to the distillery and tasting room. It is handicap accessible. The other four are just up a few sets of stairs and have their own balconies. The room we stayed in Ginger is gorgeous. It is modern and offers a ton of space. The bathroom is large with a closet with safe, large counter with oversized sink, bathroom with sliding door and walk in shower with rain and handheld heads. The bed was very comfortable with high quality sheets. There is a gas fireplace and coffee machine and mini fridge. They do offer a minibar and their own spirits to buy. The room had a couch and desk as well as a patio with two chairs to relax in. On the second floor is an outdoor patio with several tables to sit at. We took advantage of unseasonably warm weather in November to eat meals at. The patio has a beautiful view of Carbondale. They provide daily newspapers and in the hallway for the rooms are additional coffee pods, plates and silverware for eating in your room. The owner Connie was extremely helpful going above and beyond to surprise my wife with flowers. She gave me different options and the vase and flowers were in the room when we checked in. She answered questions we had and helped us troubleshoot a small problem with some of the technology. The tasting room is gorgeous. We didn't spend much time there but enjoued live music from the patio (with fireplace) just outside. They have reserved parking for Inn guests behind the building in the alley. They do have free charging for electric vehicles which is very uncommon. We did buy a few bottles of their Moonlight Espresso and Whiskey and they are both delicious and oh so drinkable. The downtown of Carbondale was quiet but filled with lots of restaurants, shops and mountain hospitality. Looking forward to returning to the Distillery Inn on future visits.

We had cocktails waiting for us in our room when we arrived. The location is perfect as it is within walking distance of downtown and several restaurants, not to mention their own tasting room! I absolutely recommend this a a nice little get away. We'll definitely be returning!

The kitchen is full of every tool you might need to cook in, while the continental breakfast downstairs in the morning is always fresh and tasty. Staff has always been friendly and accommodating - be sure to ask the front desk for recommendations on places to eat and things to do around town. This year's stay was exceptionally relaxing as updates to the shared spaces were finished. We really enjoyed the modern new look of the lobby, table games, and updated fitness center - but the star of the show was definitely the pool area! Indoor and outdoor hot tubs, waterfalls, stone slide, and sauna had us going back downstairs night after night.

I would say it got down to 50 degrees at night, but they provide an extra comfy bed with tons of blankets! We were extremely comfortable! They had full bathrooms with the tent. So shower, working toilet, and sink with hot water! They had a cooler with ice ready for us upon arrival. The cooler had cold water bottles and coffee creamer. They also had lanterns fully charged for us. They had a coffee maker with sugars. The tent is situated on top of a deck off the ground. Can walk barefoot around the tent area. At night, you can see all thr stars and milkyway (as long as it is a clear night). They have a ton of activities to take advantage of! We went on the ATV tour in the morning, and it was absolutely worth it. Shout out to Above and Beyond Tour! Thank you to Greg for the fun tour and Craig! Highly recommend the ATV tour! Also, we did the horseback riding! Wonderful and friendly staff and horses! I had King Kong, he was quite the snacker! My bf had Mohab. BEAUTIFUL VIEWS at this ranch. Wide open skies and mountainous landscapes with a rich history! Don't skip on this place! Run, don't walk, to book a reservation. We stayed 2 nights, and wish our trip was longer so we could have stayed longer. We did go on a night hike with the lanters. They have chairs out on some trails to enjoy that big starry night sky. I hate giving 1 star reviews but I don't recommend this spot to anyone. We stayed here because it…read morewas the cheapest spot in Avon (at almost $300 a night) and I had points to use. I didn't read into the reviews on Expedia and only looked at the overall rating which was a mistake on my end. I honestly don't even care about the political views of Todd and Tamara being displayed everywhere or the gun safe etc. The place is simply just a bad vibe. The moment you walk in, you feel like you're intruding into someone's home. It doesn't feel welcoming. They make you take off your shoes as soon as you walk in and put on "house shoes" aka Crocs from their collection. It is strange considering it wasn't even ski season or raining. There is a huge shrine of pictures of Todd meeting random "people of influence" above the sofa we had to sit at. A lot of signs with instructions like not to touch the crystal glasses in their glass cabinet. The check in process they take you into an office and it takes a long time compared to normal hotels. They make you sign a waiver with a lot of contingencies. Our check in process took about 30 minutes. Tamara had given our room to someone else and wasn't sure which room was ours or where she put them. Her way to take our credit card for incidentals was to write it down on a sticky note and leave it on the desk in her office where her and her husband check people in at the same time. One of the rules besides having to wear the shoes they provide is absolutely no food or drink in your room. You can keep it in the communal kitchen, but we didn't feel comfortable with other people having access to our food and drink. With all of the rules, it makes you feel like you must be being surveilled the entire visit. As others have mentioned, there are also creepy mannequins around that add to the bad vibes. Rooms are dated. We chose to skip breakfast because the vibes were so strange and uncomfortable for both of us, including my boyfriend who is super chill and I have never seen him be put off by strangers or an environment EVER. This place gave him a visceral reaction. Read the owners responses to reviews on Google if you want a feel for the vibes/attitude him and his wife emanate. We saw a couple that checked in with us checking out the next day, though they had originally planned to stay three nights. Also, the "Mountain View" rooms do not have a view to any mountains. This spot is in the heart of Avon.
