Here's the reality: It's gorgeous on the outside. But in my experience, there's no soul or integrity behind the facade. The service culture feels stuck in a bygone era - and not in a charming way. The locker rooms are cramped, poorly maintained, and frankly, they smell. The food is forgettable. The spa feels pretentious and operates on what I can only describe as a 1987 business model. I was told I'd need to order a nail job just to access the steam room. Make it make sense. The concierge was genuinely lovely - but it felt like her hands were tied by management's outdated approach. She seemed to want to help more than the system would allow. The events department was, in my experience, a major disappointment. Communication felt disorganized and unresponsive. When I asked for a simple proposal, I was told they "couldn't possibly do that for every inquiry" - in 2025, when AI tools can generate a polished, customized proposal in minutes. I tested it myself using Canva and Claude with their own metrics. Took me four minutes. The resistance to modernizing felt deliberate. Outside of the top-tier suites - which are reasonably priced by Colorado standards ---this felt like a mediocre hotel calling itself a resort. It is not The Broadmoor. It is not a Four Seasons. Those places deliver hospitality with humanity. This felt more like a zombie party with a great view. My honest opinion? It feels like ownership is either disengaged, burnt out, or simply no longer pursuing excellence. That said - if you're a Colorado local, the 10% room discount is a nice touch. Choose your room wisely, skip on-site dining, and check out 503W nearby for great prices and actual atmosphere. For corporate events? I'd look elsewhere.

Even local amusement parks handle drink tracking more gracefully with annual cup designs. The stingy system feels completely out of touch with a premium family resort. Our stay on the 6th floor was highly uncomfortable due to excessive nighttime temperatures. Although maintenance attended to our room, the issue was barely resolved, and the room remained far too hot.During the service call, we overheard multiple radio dispatches indicating this was a building-wide issue rather than an isolated incident. An employee requested a central adjustment for either the floor or the entire lodge, but the technician confirmed that no such system control exists.Management needs to address these systemic HVAC limitations immediately. Additionally, elevator wait times were consistently excessive throughout our stay.

It is sometimes noisy, trains and planes mostly, but for us it really didn't take much away from the beauty of this park. I would stay here again in a second. This is one of the better FamCamps in the system. Customer service is excellent. Pea-gravel sites are long and have decent space between them, especially on the patio side, with a metal picnic table and BBQ grill. Some are not satellite friendly unless you have a portable dish antenna, something I had to do, but it wasn't a big deal since we are usually prepared for any shortcomings a park might have. The water pressure is very high so make sure you bring a regulator. I measured 90 pounds when I hooked up. That's enough to blow a weak connection. The electricity was great and we never had a failure. The sewer hookup was good and they have a free dump station if you need it. Don't let the noise bother you as its a minor thing really. If you go for walks or bike rides you'll most likely see some wild life. There are places to fish and the views are great.

I especially liked the salsa verde for my eggs and the Cholula on every table (it's the best breakfast hot sauce in my opinion). The views out of my room window were beautiful. The rates were reasonable. The location was perfect for everything I was doing on a four day stay in Colorado Springs. So it has almost everything you would want in a hotel. Five stars, right? Well, actually, there is this one thing... I want to give the five. I really do. Loved it here. But the hot water, y'all. I was at the end of the hall, Room 438, and I literally had to wait ten to fifteen minutes for the water to get warm. Not hot. Warm. How this otherwise perfect hotel doesn't have on demand water is mind blowing. This is the American West. Water, or lack thereof, is ALWAYS an issue here. We can't be wasting water and time waiting for the water to get warm when on demand would immediately solve the problem. I seriously wonder if the hot water heater is located on the first floor. It takes that long. All that having been said, this is still my top Best Western. And I've stayed in a lot. If I'm in Colorado Springs, this is where I'm gonna be. We purchased our room through a third party with a dog friendly room upcharge. When we arrived at the hotel, we were charged again for a pet fee. Later that night, after taking my pup out, I inquired about the two different charges (one online and one at the desk) for my pup. The manager was insistent that the room charges are the same. I was pretty sure what I booked. He even asked me if I wanted to "Bet you $100". I'm sure what I saw but I wasn't sure how I would prove it if it wasn't available online. Of course, I didn't take the bet. But he went to look online and lo and behold, there was a difference in rooms with and without a pet. So he graciously gave me my fee he charged me when I arrive with my pet and said he will look into the difference in prices online. Anyhoo... the pool here is small, but sufficient. The hot tub says it can fit around 10 people, unless you want to be touching the person beside you so I'll guess it will fit comfortably 6, with one of those people sitting on the steps. Breakfast was your run of the mill free breakfast: make your own waffles (regular size and mini), cereal bar, coffee bar, sausage and grits, scrambled eggs.. and ice cold orange water at the entry. But for sure check your charges if you have a pet!

You can drive yourself up a winding ribbon of mountain asphalt while wondering if the human coming around the hairpin turn possesses basic driving skills. Or you can board a train and let a red Swiss-built mechanical crawler drag you up the side of a giant rock. We chose the later. We boarded the Broadmoor Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway at the base depot in Manitou Springs as part of an organized tour group. This spared us from the depot parking lot, which appeared to be a complicated test of human patience that you pay a premium to experience. The boarding process is orderly because seats are seemingly assigned by a computer algorithm. I say this, because no human would assign seats in such a manner unless they deeply enjoyed practical jokes. Our half of the train car was packed tightly while leaving the far end three-quarters empty. Spreading the riders out more evenly would seem like an obvious improvement. The seats themselves are molded high-density plastic that any rider of underfunded public transit will instantly recognize, arranged in rows facing one another. This configuration forces passengers to stare directly into each other's eyes while their legs interlock like puzzle pieces. At six-foot-three, I was deeply grateful for an aisle seat. Two of my companions, both under five-foot-six, sat across from one another and found themselves in an arrangement that surrendered all known concepts of personal space. The climb takes about one hour and fifteen minutes along nine miles of track. Our guide provided historical facts, geological context, and a steady stream of terrible dad jokes. They informed us we were on the right track, which was technically accurate. Outside the windows, the aspen trees gave way to evergreen timberline, which eventually dissolved into barren rock, sky, and absolute silence. At the summit, the atmosphere becomes thin and cold. We had just come from a week of intense heat, yet tiny snowflakes were drifting through the air in July. My lungs, accustomed to normal atmospheric pressure, spent the first ten minutes attempting to negotiate a trade agreement with the mountain air. Eventually, my nervous system adjusted. The summit visitor center feels modern, warm, and smells delightfully of their famous high-altitude freshly fried donuts. On the journey back down, the universe provided a magnificent surprise. A rainbow appeared in the canyon directly at eye-level. Every human in our car stopped talking at the exact same moment and simply stared through the glass. No digital camera could properly capture it. Some moments refuse to be translated into pixels. I would choose the Cog Railway over driving up the peak without hesitation. You must simply pack warm layers, prepare for the altitude, and accept that your knees will spend two hours making close friends with a stranger. The mountain is magnificent. The seating configuration is not.

You are surrounded by beautiful pine or aspen trees. You can tell the owner takes great care of his park. It's very clean as well. There are no fires which is fine but sometimes the management will have a campfire in the picnic area as long as there's not a fire ban or rain. They are dog friendly but a maximum of 2 dogs (need management approval), no WiFi but why would you need it when you got your phones or personal hotspot, no laundry or bathrooms as you need to be fully contained. That is fine with me as I'll know if I catch something it's my own fault not the parks... Amazing views of Pikes Peak... if you can't see it in your site, there are picnic tables in their rocky corral (that's what the managers call it). The rates are pretty reasonable as they have their summer rates which include taxes, electric, water, sewer & trash and then monthly rates start in October. **You need to go 5mph throughout the entire park which is good as I've been in other parks and it gets dangerous when you're out walking and almost getting hit by a speeder, . ** You are located in the city of Woodland Park, Colorado and so you are close to everything. I highly recommend this RV park as I'll be coming for sure next summer.

Which I am but the lack of a few integral amenities was one of the few reasons I gave it a three and not a four. Negatives: incredibly steep spots and not many of them. A lot of the campers aren't really "campers" but are either there for a while, or even seem to be living there. This cuts down on quite a few of the really nice spots. The proximity to the highway is a bit distracting when the traffic is heavier. BUT when the traffic isn't heavy, it's very quiet and pleasant. The area is nice and even though the highway noise is a bit much sometimes, the proximity as far as convenience for wayward travelers is definitely a plus. The apparent lack of amenities (however small an RV park is) was surprising. No showers, bathrooms, etc. I would imagine for long term visitors that could be an issue if anything should go wrong with their motorhome or need to wash clothes. Our spot and a few others (there are 40ish) and I think some of those are full-time people was incredibly, I mean blocks under our levelers steep. This caused a skosh of an issue, as some will know, with our slide out and wasn't much room for it. So if possible, request a spot that isn't steeper than Everest. These were the reasons they lost the fourth star. Positives: convenient location to Walgreens, hwy, and a couple of restaurants and very nice and quiet all evening even outside of quiet hours. Aside from some guy who felt the need to run his saw above at 8am on a weekend, it was a great place to rest for the evening. I didn't see the cabins but they do have some quaint cabins as a nice alternative. I can't attest to the interior however. But they look nice and clean on the outside. Very friendly caretaker who was available when we needed anything and the prices are perfectly matched for the camp ground. Free wifi! Yes, even camping I need my wifi. Having that is so nice it always counts as a positive no matter how remote. But, don't expect TV reception because no dish will be able to get through the trees. Despite that, the trees are definitely a positive. Very established pines that give a nice addition to the view, they also give a feeling of seclusion and did help block out the traffic noise. Full hookups. Always a bonus! I would highly recommend if you are traveling through but not so much if you plan on staying for a longer weekend. I really want to give them four stars but just can't because of the steepness and lack of extras. Four stars for short stay. Three for long stay.
