Buc-ee's, however, has erected a massive, glittering cathedral dedicated to a cartoon beaver, and it treats highway consumerism as a joyful, high-stakes religion. We were driving from Denver to Cheyenne with a handful of individuals who have never experienced the phenomenon that is Buc-ee's, so stopping was an absolute certainty. People from the Mid-Atlantic who lack worldliness like to claim that Buc-ee's is just an oversized Wawa or Sheetz. They are entirely wrong. For starters, Buc-ee's explicitly bans 18-wheelers from the property, leaving the grid of well over one hundred fueling positions open entirely to a synchronized ballet of family SUVs. Inside, the scale is borderline psychedelic. There is a literal "Wall of Jerky" and rows of rotating homemade fudge flavors. At the center is the Texas Round Up station, where employees in paper hats yell "Fresh brisket on the board!" before chopping smoked beef with rhythmic, hypnotic violence. I bought the mandatory Beaver Nuggets: puffy, caramel-coated corn snacks resembling mutant Corn Pops that possess the terrifying supernatural ability to vanish from the bag without any conscious human intervention. Then there are the restrooms. They are celebrated on billboards for hundreds of miles, and they live up to the mythology. They are massive, brightly lit, and so impossibly clean that you suspect the laws of biological decay have been suspended by corporate decree. The entire operation functions because the company pays wages well above the highway standard, proving a radical sociological theory: if you compensate people fairly, they will actually take pride in keeping a floor spotless. It is a wildly efficient, beautifully absurd roadside institution. You pull in merely needing regular unleaded, and you leave with a warm chopped brisket sandwich, a bag of sugary corn, and a profound sense of wonder. read more

This was my first time at a Buccee's. What a crazy place! There were so many people when I was there around 4pm. I made my way to the BBQ station and took in the intoxicating smells of sweet sauce, smoke and beef. So good. I grabbed a Chopped Brisket Sandwich and two of their delicious Dark Chocolade Caramels with Sea Salt candies. I wandered around for a little bit checking out the jerky, cookies, fudge, and mercantile items. I could get lost in there for hours looking at everything. Such a cool place. I would say be careful as you navigate the parking lot. People were walking out from behind cars and weren't paying attention to where they were going. Holy smokes. I had no idea what to expect of this place. Of course I'd heard of it, but did not know what the hype was all about and certainly did not expect there to be 128 gas pumps and a small Walmarty crazy town on the inside. I think we might've been the only ones that felt slightly overwhelmed finding parking and with the chaos inside. They pretty much have everything you could need on a road trip or otherwise - clothing, gifts, endless fresh food, a wall of fountain beverages, self serve coffee with any creamer/additive/syrup you could imagine, a bakery, a butcher. It was quite the spectacle. But seriously, straight up chaos inside. This is an 100% American type of place. My boyfriend did hear that they were known for their brisket sandwiches, which I have to say, was definitely delish. And they cut it right there for you to watch and put together the sandwiches. There was also a tortilla making station and I noticed the kids liked watching that. And, of course, Buc-ee the beaver was there and taking photos with the kids too! O-Kay Buc-ees show me what you've got. Me, one hour later: "holy hell". It's a touristy gift shop, with some specialty items, lots of buc-ees branded merch, convenience store style hot food items, coffee, stuff for your car, your pets and you, your kids, your sweetie. I'm not sure if it's a mini mall, an expanded truck stop convenience store, or a glaring testament to consumerism. What makes it different from the usual convenience store might be the bbq cutting station with periodic group shouts from the guys working that area. I have no idea what they were saying, but it happened pretty regularly and you could hear it all over the store. And let's talk about the fudge station. Oh yes .... Winner on that. Still, it's a convenience store, a couple of steps above the norm, but once you get beyond the circus-y vibe, it's an experience that leaves me with the meh mindset for a repeat. I've always wanted to visit a Buc-ee's and was so excited when one finally opened in CO! The last time we were in CO we didn't get a chance to visit, so this time we definitely made a point to. I personally think the hype is real. There's so much food to choose from, and so so so many snacks and souvenirs. There's something for everyone. The place is huuuuge and there are a ton of gas pumps. Everything was affordable and the bathrooms were very clean. I appreciated that there were red and green lights showing which stalls were open and which were occupied. The workers were very efficient in their tasks, be it cutting fresh brisket, replenishing food items, or cleaning the store. My husband grabbed a brisket sandwich and a key lime pie pudding cup, both of which he said were delicious and again worth the hype. I didn't get anything as I had leftovers from the previous day, but I would have probably grabbed their famous pulled-pork sandwich if I didn't. Wow, this was our first time stopping at a Buc-ee's and it was pretty amazing for a gas station. They have TONS of gas pumps, so zero waiting. Their bathrooms are spotless. Shopping was very fun! We bought T-shirts for the family, hats, magnets and a variety of other things. Best of all was the food. We tried the brisket sandwich and Carolina pulled pork sandwich, along with some Beaver chips (homemade potato chips). We bought fudge to go and it was the best fudge I've ever eaten. The jerky selection was next-level and the jerky we tried was amazing. I really wish we had one closer to home but at least we have one in our home state of Arizona now. read more

Buc-ee's is something else. I thought the quik trip gas stations were big, until I went here. This thing is like a small Walmart, and is absolutely ridiculous in the best way possible. It had everything. You can buy clothes, get tons of desserts, go to the fudge station, grab and freshly made pulled pork sandwich, and tons of other things. The amount of people who were here was crazy and the amount of employees this place had for one gas station blew my mind. The only part I didnt like is they needed more cashiers. Honestly? What's not to like? Maybe I'm easy to please, but the $2 build your own coffee sold me immediately. I love a crisp, iced coffee and being able to customize it with so many different options, was fantastic. There's something for everyone on that coffee bar, from dairy-free to heavy cream to syrups, chocolate sauce, and caramel... yeah. I had FUN! I also enjoyed the array of beef and turkey jerky available. This being one of my personal favorite snacks, quickly turned into a mini adventure by visiting the jerky case to taste test at least 5 different flavors to ultimately land on my favorite! I had such a great time with the taste testing and the wonderful staff was such a joy to chat with. I highly recommend taste testing next time you stop into Buc-ee's! We were going to attend a fair convention in Denver, CO and we knew one thing before we even left Mesa, AZ - we were making the 40-mile trip from Denver to the Buc-ee's location near Johnstown. We had previously been to a couple of locations in Texas, but it had been years. Arizona is getting their first location this June (2026) but until then we won't have a chance to go to another Buc-ee's. If you have never been to one - you likely will not understand the hype, but if you know you know. So much fun and so many things to see and buy - especially right before Christmas. Fresh beef jerky, cool flavored mints in collectible tins, earrings, a stuffed Buc-ee, brisket sandwiches, nuggets, seeds, kitchen decorations, magnets, bottle openers, and so much more. It's got everything and by everything I mean mountains of Buc-cee's branded clothes, food, gear, chochkees and even more shit you didn't know you needed. With the holidays coming there was Ana amazing selection of holiday stuff. Cool gifts and goody things like a Buc-crew's branded Santa suit. Massive stations for drinks, sweets, prepared foods, jerky, baked goods and all the snacks and toys and spices and the list goes on forever. Oh yah, they have their own tortilla machine! Outside there are easily 100 pump stations and Rows of ice machines Inside they have immaculate bathrooms, lots of staff stocking shelves, making food and checking people out. There are always lines to pay but you never wait long. Gas is cheap, prices for food and goods range based on quality and whether the product has a trump tariff. They have a decent selection of outdoor gear, gifts of every type imaginable and even wine! The store is so clean and amazingly well stocked. Shopping carts and baskets are plentiful and people are genuinely enjoying themselves. It's worth a stop but beware, you will spend some money if you do. read more

"Aren't you glad we finally got away And I'm so glad that we Finally had some" (Beach Boys) I've been wanting to visit a Buc-ees for quite a long time, but sadly, the closest one to us is over 400 miles away in Mount Crawford, Virginia, so I never did. That is until yesterday when our tour bus stopped on I-90 in Johnstown, Colorado for a rest stop at the 60th of Buc-ees 69 stores. It opened here in March of 2024. Are you familiar with Buc-ees? It's a Texas-based travel center that's developed a cult-like following. I guess its true that good things happen to those who wait. It's really hard to describe the Buc-ees experience. Let me start with some numbers., it has a mind-blowing 116 fueling stations and 12 electric vehicle charging stations. So that was pretty wild to see before my big toe ever crossed the threshold. But when you enter the store in this mammoth complex, you'll discover it covers 74,000-square feet and contains thousands of snack, food and drink choices, homemade fudge, a full bakery; barbecued brisket, turkey and pulled pork, clothes, outdoor gear, home goods, toys, books, wine, and one of its claims to fame, "the "world's cleanest bathrooms, freshest food and friendliest beaver." Of course, their mascot "Buc-ee the Beaver" was on hand, and of course we shamelessly posed for a picture with him. It was too bad our bus stop only lasted for 30-minutes, but we successfully visited the restroom, and crammed our shopping basket with $39 worth of Buc-ees stuff -namely a souvenir tote bag, Salted Caramel Rice Crispy treat, 2 bags of Buc-ees flavored popcorn, a bag of Cherry Maple Buc-es beef jerky, two Buc-ees slap wrap plushies, and a hunk of Praline fudge. The fudge turned out to be problematic because TSA flagged it on their screener, and we had to open the bag and explain it. I guess it resembled a block of plastique explosive or something dangerous. But the TSA guard was cool when she saw what it was. She smiled and said, "fudge is OK by me". read more

I had never experienced anything like this before, and maybe it got a bit overhyped, but it's quite a place. I definitely wouldn't go out of my way, but when I have the misfortunate of driving that stretch of I-25, I consider a stop. The range of products available is mindblowing. More and better snacks than you've ever seen, but who needs to get clothing or housewares here? The volumes they are able to pump through are amazing. The bbq sandwiches and pastries aren't the best I've ever had, but for a gas station, they're very good. The culture is unique. Everyone who works there is extremely hard working and extremely friendly. And it's just funny to have a huge wall that proclaims "World Famous Bathrooms". read more

It's a huge gas station with the same item as local gas station like QuikaTrip but with own branding and lot more variety and more in stock to offer. Maybe add a small mom and pop stores at the mountain towns like Idaho Spring or Estes Park? Did I see taffy offerings? I did grab reheated sausage kolach from friendly attendant. It was just OK. Nothing close to the ones from Texas. Also had a station making candied almonds, cashews and pecans. Right front of you. I had to grab a small bag of pecans to munch on my long journey. I tried to explain to my friend who hadn't heard of Buc-ee's why I like it so much. And honestly it's a hard thing to describe. On paper, Buc-ee's is not really something I would like. It's like the Disneyland of gas stations, as I describe it. I have little desire to visit Disneyland, but somehow still, I enjoy visiting Buc-ee's. I've been to 4 locations, each time I visit I get an iced coffee from the coffee bar, and I try to get a new food item, and I generally buy some type of Buc-ee's swag. Usually a t-shirt. The place is super clean, the restrooms are the best you'll find on the road, there are so many pumps for gas you won't wait long, and employees are friendly. They offer house made beef jerky, an icee area, iced coffee bar, house made food with a large selection of items. And all kinds of Buc-ee branded items. For now, Buc-ee's holds supreme as best rest stop/ convenience store & gas station I've been to. So long as they maintain their standards, as the company expands, I'm sure I will continue to enjoy it. We even "met Buc-ee" lol and took a photo. Buc-ee's was a true treat for the family! 1st - the gas was much cheaper than anywhere I've been too in Colorado and it was 20 cents cheaper than the gas station next door. 2nd - the family absolutely loved walking around and grabbing different treats. I LOVE Buc-ees! This will be a very biased review but in reality who doesn't love it. More gas pumps than you can imagine. If you are waiting for one then you are not at a Buc-ees! Immediately when you walk in staff greets you and the store explodes. Could be overwhelming to some but to others it's more than just a gas station. Anything you might need for a road trip they have. Don't forget to grab some food! I have had most of the food I usually stick with the brisket sandwich I prefer chopped brisket but there is also a sliced option. Don't forget the onions and extra sauce! It's a must!! They sell it in a bottle in the store if you are obsessed with sauce like me. read more

I've been talking about going to Buccees for months. And on a whim we decided to road trip over. The location was easy to find off the freeway. Once we found a spot we made our way in. I had an idea of how the store was but once inside it was amazing. Near the entrance there was section for men shirts, kids, pets and even home decorations. The Christmas tahirts were very enticing. The down size o. Clothes were they only have what's out. As I was trying to get matching pj pants. We bought brisket and pulled pork sandwich and Of course banana pudding. Aside from the food we ended up picking up a few Christmas gifts as well. The bath body lotions smelled great and picked up a few of those. The first Buc-ee's opened in Colorado (March 2024). While planning our trip to Colorado (and nearby states), I wanted to make sure that we would make a stop at this location, as I am no stranger of Buc-ee's and I am a huge fan of this store. This location is similar to the many other locations that I have visited in other states, where there are many clean restrooms, brisket sandwiches, numerous of hot food choices, snacks galore, Buc-ee's merchandise. We ended up visiting this location on two separate visits. Both on a Saturday and were lucky to see Buc-ee's himself waiting around for fans to take photos with. And both times, we took photos and were given Buc-ee's stickers. Over these two visits, we purchased gasoline but also the following: Veggie Burrito, $6.99 prior to tax- I really liked this burrito the first time we got it so I ended up purchasing it again on our second visit. This burrito is pretty huge, stuffed with refried beans, black beans, rice, cheese, sliced sauteed bell peppers, corn. I was definitely pretty full after eating it both times. But I must warn you that the burrito itself is crazy hot when trying to pick it up from the warmer. But if you hold it by the label, then it is manageable to pick up and bring to the registers. Beef & Cheese Burrito, $8.00 prior to tax- My husband decided to get this, to try something new since we have both had the brisket sandwich several times on previous visits to Buc-ee's in other states. I was actually surprised that this burrito was tasty. The cheese used was a white sauce cheese, reminds me of queso. The burrito size is a little smaller than my veggie burrito but still filling. Bag of ice- $1.99 prior to tax- This 10 pound bag is pretty cheap (cheaper than Sonics for those that are wondering). We purchased this bag of ice the first time for our cooler. We paid inside and then picked up a bag in one of the freezers outside (it really is the honor's system). Fried Apple Pie, $2.49 prior to tax- My husband opted to pick this up. I didn't have any but he thought it was good. But there was not as much apple pie filling as a McDonald's apple pie and there was a lot more of the breaded/ fried pie shell. Side of barbecue sauce, $0.25 prior to tax- We did not know that there was a charge for the sauce, as an employee at the barbecue sandwich station had suggested that we pick up a side of sauce. There is no sign that indicates that there is a charge. The sauce itself wasn't that good, it has a vinegary/ tangy flavor and I personally prefer my barbecue to be a little sweeter. My husband thought it was just okay. -------------------------- Service was friendly during our first visit. But checking out and paying for our purchase during the second visit, the employee helping us wasn't friendly at all. It seemed like she didn't really care to be there. The absolute coolest "convenience store" ever thought out! You return over and over just because of the ample amount of fuel pumps and always super clean restrooms, but then you really get hooked on all the glorious food! On my way into town I get BBQ sandwiches, energy drinks, beef jerky, chicken strips, & breakfast burritos because the quality of the food is top notch and those items are some of the best around. This is a unique place with an surprisingly great tasting bbq and veggie burritos option. I had seen the tiktoks and read the facebook hype in my groups. I put off coming here for a year because it seemed like a super busy thing, but went during a mid week day and had a great experience without a mega crowd. My husband said the brisket sandwich was delicious and his favorite bbq sandwich he has had in awhile. I enjoyed the veggie burrito. It has a really nice flavor. I would have preferred some hot sauce on it but the spices in the basic flavor is good. Don't get this if you dislike long chunky pieces of onion and bell peppers. Its abundant in the burrito.
