"Right On" I rarely…read moretake the time to review a spot unless I feel absolutely necessary. Lunatico is a place that has been on my list for awhile. Immediately upon entering, one of the servers said it was standing room only by the door or by the stage. That was not a problem, but then she immediately proceeded to question our ability to provide patronage, asking if we had a card to validate us occupying the space. The vibe was off. After explaining to the owner/singer that we felt unwelcomed upon entering his establishment he said "right on" and it's busy on Saturdays. Long story short: music was a vibe, but customer service was severely lacking, and presumptuous.

The joint is packed and buzzing with a wall length bar, live music in the back. We're specifically here to see our dear friend, Frank LoCrasto and his way cool band XOTICA. They are fantastic and fabulous! LunÀtico was founded by musicians with an aim of combining sophisticated cocktails with a funky music scene, whilst encouraging patrons to support artists through donations. Here, one can enjoy a wide range of music, like jazz, rock, punk, house, calypso, reggae, folk, pop, indie, samba, etc. on a nightly basis. LunÀtico receives praise for its unique vibe, serving quality bespoke cocktails with some delicious tapas off the small menu. Please kindly observe my photos. + +Get your groove on! Wishing you all a fabulous Spring ahead weekend. Do enjoy sleeping-in an extra hour on Sunday. However, good luck on Monday morning. Thank you for reading!

I think it was just a cheeser pepperoni back then, but it was definitely good. Fast forward to now, before my train left, my sister want to bring me here for a meal and we dined in. Pizza was the move, and at first I was indecisive about which one I wanted. But then our waitress mentioned the special for the day and I got it. It had chilis, peppers, spring onions and much more... And with the flavor of that crust, anything could go on the pizza and taste great. Unfortunately because of the long train ride, we were somewhat rushing, but it all turned out wonderfully. I would love to come back when I have more time to fully enjoy everything. The drinks look nice too.

We really enjoyed our Pie's, the chili oil and would come back again. The server was kind enough to offer what turned out to be an excellent wine selection. This place is another example of how people find ways to maximize small spaces in NYC so I would definitely recommend snagging a seat at a table. The bar seating looked to be quite crowded and busy.

First, the owners are some of the kindest, most thoughtful hosts you could hope to meet. You can feel how much they care about their community the moment you walk in. They've also made real efforts to make the space accessible for different bodies, which is something that far too few restaurants consider. That level of intention and hospitality truly stands out. And then there's the food -- absolutely phenomenal. Every dish feels intentional, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Standouts for me: Shrimp Toast - the best I've ever had. Perfectly crisp, rich, and balanced. Duck - deeply flavorful and cooked to perfection. Ribs - tender, savory, and incredibly satisfying. Char Siu - sweet, smoky, and melt-in-your-mouth good. Eggplant - unbelievably delicious and a must-order. Monkey King is the kind of place you leave already planning your next visit. Amazing food, genuine hospitality, and a space that feels welcoming and thoughtful. Highly recommend supporting this gem.

Even the bathroom was impressively nice, which always says a lot about a restaurant's attention to detail. The food and drinks were on point. The crab fried rice, fried shrimp toast, rib lamb were all flavorful and well-prepared. One standout for me was the spring rolls--they were so good, crispy and packed with flavor. The drinks were also great, making the overall dining experience even better. Between the great food, nice atmosphere, and convenient location, it's definitely a place I'd go back to again. Alexa greeted us and took our order she's amazing! If you're planning a date night or a nice dinner out, Monkey King is a solid choice.
