I want to sincerely thank Green Meadows Veterinary Care, especially Dr. Melania Tahmasian, for the compassion, empathy, and support she showed us during one of the hardest moments a pet owner can face. Saying goodbye to a beloved furry family member is heartbreaking, and her kindness, patience, and clear communication meant more to us than words can express. She created a safe and comforting space from start to finish and helped make such a painful experience feel peaceful and gentle for our loved one. We are deeply grateful and cannot recommend her highly enough.

Dr. Melania is an angel. My Mom's dog had congestive heart failure that took a very quick turn for the worse and our vet who saw Jax for over 10 years didn't make the effort to return her AM call of distress till almost 7pm when we already had Dr. Melania on the way. Thankfully she even asked her earlier patient if she could see us first as our dog was really struggling. She was so kind, knew just what to say, made us all comfortable and most importantly, took amazing care of our sweet Jax. She gave us the medical information and the comfort we were looking for all day from our long term vet and we had just found her online and met her for the first time!! I truly can't say enough about how she made such a hard time so much easier and comfortable. Thank you so, so much Dr. Melania and Green Meadows Vet Care. You are a gift to so many during such a difficult time. And a photo someone shared of their sweet dog with their "lamby" also made it feel "meant to be" that we were choosing the right person so wanted to share photo as this was Jax's favorite toy too. We highly recommend Green Meadows for when you are needing to make this hard decision.

If I could leave this place 10 stars, I would! If you don't have time to read the full review, here's the TL;DR version: DR. MELANIA IS AMAZING. COMPASSIONATE, PROFESSIONAL, FULL OF KNOWLEDGE AND WILL TAKE THE BEST CARE OF YOU AND YOUR FUR BABY. We had to say goodbye to our beloved bull mastiff, Tank, yesterday. I knew it was inevitable but when we woke up and noticed how much he had declined overnight and was suffering, I knew it had to be done asap. I did not want him to suffer for another moment. I called around to a few in-home euthanasia places but no one had any availability that day, and I didn't want to stress our old boy out with a car ride to the vet. Someone offered to come in the evening at 5:30pm at an "after hours" rate of an extra $150. I understand that this is a business and people's time is valuable, especially if it takes away time they can spend with their own family at night. Nothing against that company, I totally get it. I appreciated their willingness to come out after hours and I was willing to pay it but thought I'd call a couple more places first. In-home euthanasia for pets is not cheap. It's worth it, but definitely not cheap. I am so glad I called. The next call was to Green Meadows and Dr. Melania answered right away. She answered my questions, gave me a price quote ($200-450 less than the other places), and thank goodness she had an opening that afternoon. We noticed her compassion and empathy as soon as she walked in. She came and sat right down on the floor on the dog bed with Tank and treated him with hugs and TLC. My husband had concerns that it might not be time because he had moments of perking up when he saw us, and even walked to the door to greet Dr. Melania when she came. She gave him treats and he ate (he hadn't eaten in over a week). So suddenly we had hope and thought that we might be putting him down too soon. We expressed our concerns to Dr. Melania and after a thorough assessment of his history, how he had been acting recently, and her observation of him, she told us the ultimate choice was ours. She was knowledgeable about his condition and didn't try to sway us in one direction or the other. We asked her to paint us a realistic picture of what would happen in the next days and weeks if we didn't put him down now. She was very honest and straight forward with us. We would basically be delaying the inevitable and would be in this same situation days later, only our poor Tank would be in more pain and experience more suffering. In the end, she told us it's a personal choice and only one that we could make, and that neither choice was wrong. We loved that we were able to talk it out with her, share our feelings and also get a doctor's perspective of things. It was incredibly validating. In the end, we decided that our boy had enough suffering and Dr. Melania gave us as much time as we needed to say goodbye. His final moments were extremely peaceful and it was just like he went to sleep and didn't wake up again. There was no pain and we appreciated the quiet, peaceful passing. I can't say enough about how Dr. Melania helped us through this. Her patience with our many questions, her knowledge of not only his physical condition but also our emotional states, as well as his, and her honesty, compassion and empathy of the entire situation - we were truly blessed that we found her during such a difficult time. She's an angel.

We are so glad that we went with Dr. Melania to euthanize our dog Pinky. We decided it was time to let her go in the early evening, and Dr. Melania went out of her way to come to our home that same night. She was very warm and compassionate. Even though Pinky was territorial in the house, barking and growling, Dr. Melania was completely comfortable treating her. She gave Pinky the first shot on her buttocks without any issue. She guided us through the process every step of the way, and gave us the space and privacy to say our final goodbyes. It was a devastating night for us, but it had to be done, and she gave Pinky the most peaceful send-off. Thank you Dr. Melania!

Dr. Melania responded immediately to my inquiry and we feel so fortunate to have found her. She brought such a calm, comforting presence to this difficult decision. She greeted our pet with warmth and celebrated his uniqueness. We discussed his illness and she answered questions about his condition. She walked us through the process with patience and compassion, explaining everything thoroughly and made sure we were ready to proceed. Her price was less than our local vet and the experience was so much more peaceful in our home, instead of taking him in. Thank you Melania for helping us through one of our hardest times!

Thank you for your prompt response. And for your loving, gentle, patient care of Choebe. We are grateful and we highly recommend you.

When Sir Perceval passed away, I immediately remembered them and reached out again. From the first phone call to bringing him home, every single step was handled with kindness, professionalism, warmth, and genuine compassion. Our aftercare specialist, Laura, at the Sun Valley location, stayed with us through the entire process and treated both us and our beloved pup with such dignity and care. The visitation experience was absolutely transformative for our grieving hearts. When we entered the room, Sir Perceval was resting peacefully on a soft bed, covered with a plush blanket, he looked like he was sleeping soundly, covered in a cozy blanket with flowers carefully arranged around him. The room was softly lit, peaceful music played in the background, and there were comfortable sofas where we could sit with him as long as we needed. We cried, hugged him, and said goodbye in a space that felt safe, loving, and deeply respectful. The thoughtful details meant everything to us -- when picking up his cremains, as emotional as it was, we appreciated the elegant, color coordinated packaging, the velvet bag his urn was wrapped in, the lovely engraving, his precious paw print. The service provided was exceptional in every way. In one of the most painful moments of our lives, West Coast Pet Memorial gave us peace and a final memory of our beloved dog that we will cherish forever. We are endlessly grateful.

This review is limited to the ashes and keepsakes I got from them for my late cat. Last week I lost my cat of 12 years, Oliver, to cancer. He passed away fairly suddenly when I took him to Animal Speciality Group (VCA) in Glendale because he had been throwing up non-stop and seemed to be in pain. Turns out his tumor had been bleeding internally and he was severely anemic and the cancer had apparently spread aggressively across large portions of his body, so I made the difficult but necessary decision to let him cross the rainbow bridge. At ASG/VCA, I purchased a cremation and keepsakes package, which I would later learn was being handled by West Coast. I just got the urn and keepsakes today in the mail and I really could not be any happier (other than if I could get my little buddy back). The wooden urn I chose was just beautiful, but I am especially blown away by the small vial with his hair inside of it; West Coast made a point to display his black and white fur in a beautiful pattern so I can always remember my tuxedo boy. I also did not ask or even pay extra for a paw print but I was so emotional and glad to find that West Coast had prepared one for me anyway. I really appreciate the work they did here to memorialize my boy. Thank you, West Coast, for your thoughtful work. Pictures include how I've set up the urn and vial of hair on my little altar for Oliver.

Saying goodbye to Ace was one of the hardest things we've ever had to do, and you and Sunnie made it as peaceful and loving as it could possibly be. The way you cared for him--and for all of us--meant more than I can put into words. You took the time to talk with us and our kids. You explained everything in a way that made sense and bought calm. You made our children feel safe and supported no matter what they were feeling. That meant everything to us. You gave us space and time to say goodbye to our good boy in a way that was meaningful and kind. And the little touches... the blanket under his head, the pets and love you gave, the fur you kept and boxed for our children, the invitation for our kids to write a letter that will be with him forever, the calm and warmth you created--it didn't feel clinical, it felt like family. You gave us a moment we'll always be grateful for in the middle of so much heartbreak. Thank you for the love, compassion, and dignity you gave Ace and our whole family today. This is not my first review of our beloved Dr G, and I just recommended her to 6 more people again just these past 2 weeks. I always say to people I give her card to: "you will discover she is an Earth Angel - if she moved to a different town, I'd take my pup there... When you find a great vet, they are Gold! She's not only compassionate, present and knowledgeable, but also she does not oversell." Besides all the regular check ups, Dr G. has performed 2 substantial surgeries on my pup in the last 8 years, and has been extremely kind, providing valuable reassuring step-by-step updates throughout, especially aware that I had lost my beloved first dog, (with a different vet), when he did not make it through the anesthesia... In the 8 years Dr G. has been our one and only vet; everyone I have sent to Dr G. has fallen in love with her, and has thanked me for the referral. I trusted Dr G and her small compassionate team with the euthanasia of my precious second dog, Handsome. She is truly an Angel on Earth. At her Chatsworth location, I love that she's created a lovingly cozy "home environment" for the euthanasia experience. That it so needed during that deeply emotional time, and more veterinary offices ought to follow her example. I found her many years ago when I was dissatisfied with a busy veterinary front desk in Sherman Oaks, after they had made errors in my first dog's chart. Unfortunately he passed, and I learned that finding the RIGHT professional truly makes ALL the difference. So yes, I drive from Sherman Oaks. Gratefully so :) I am thankful that my cherished pups are her patients. Her ethics, her care, her kindness, her knowledge, her integrity - she's our number 1!!!

We had the pleasure of Dr. Susan Chao come out to our home on Friday, March 20. We had a 9 am appointment (the first one of the day) and she arrived a little before. She had called me about 15 minutes prior to let me know that she would be arriving within 15 minutes. When she arrived, my husband and I greeted her and had her walk to our backyard, as this was the place I had wanted for our little girl because she loved being in the backyard to sunbathe. Dr. Chao was wonderful at guiding us through the process, explaining every step of the way and allowing us to take our time to say goodbye to Muffin. She also allowed us to give Muffin treats during the process (Muffin's last meal was a chicken nugget from Burger King and pureed chicken that Dr. Chao brought, which Muffin really did enjoy eating). Dr. Chao also did cut a piece of Muffin's fur for us to keep and placed it in a small plastic box, which she put in a small mesh bag and gave it to us as a keepsake. Muffin passed away on March 20, 9:31 am. Dr. Chao gave us some time to spend with Muffin right after and just walked towards the side of the house so that we could have privacy. Afterwards, she placed Muffin in a basket and then we walked with her towards the front of the home so that she could take Muffin with her to eventually be cremated. About two weeks later, I contacted Hearts and Halos to ask if Muffin's ashes were ready for us to pick up (please note that the company can also mail your pet's ashes to you, but we just preferred to pick it up in person). I had a hard time getting ahold of them via telephone, so I emailed the company and was able to arrange for a pickup time. I was told via email that someone was supposed to contact us that day that I had emailed them about Muffin's ashes though... This past Thursday, my husband and I went to Gardena to pick up Muffin's ashes (please note that Hearts and Halos office is now in transition to moving to Hungtinton Beach). When we arrived, an employee came out and gave us a small gift bag, that held her ashes, seeds to plant in her memory and also a small brochure regarding aftercare and additional resources for the grieving process. I do like the box that her ashes came in and also I love the small wooden heart with her name engraved on it and a small halo right above her name. The total cost for these services is $840 (you can pay via check, cash or credit card). You can also have additional items, such as an urn (which cost $60) or your pet's paw print, that will cost extra. If you do not wish to have your pet's ashes back, the cost would go down to $675, in which your pet will be part of a communal process to preserve their ashes and then will be scattered in the company's memory garden. Just as a price comparison, when we had to put down our other 2 dogs at the vet (both of our other dogs were of an emergent case and so we would not have been able to plan for their euthanasian earlier and so we would not have been able to utilize these home euthanasia services even if we had known about them at the time), at minimum, it would have cost $455 if we had made an appointment and had this service done during the day. However, both times we had to rush our dogs to the vet were during after hours and without an appointment, so the cost was around $560, which also did include their ashes. So, these home pet euthanasia services can cost an additional $100- $300 more but we felt it was worth the cost. We did not have to rush and deal with the stress and anxiety of the car ride from our home to the vet and also sit in the waiting room while they prep our dog and then say goodbye to them in the vet's office (where both of our dogs really hated going to the vet). The ability to allow Muffin to be in the comfort of her own home and to have foods that she enjoyed during the process was worth it for us. I highly recommend home pet euthanasia at home if you can afford it. I like to think that this was the much better choice for Muffin and hope that she was happy with her chicken treats right before she left us, keeping her in good spirits than to be stressed and anxious if we had chosen to bring her to the veterinarian instead. Thank you Hearts and Halos for helping us during this process.
