I didn't know how I would react the day I had to say goodbye to my sweet boy, Kaid. When Peaceful Pet Services pulled up, it suddenly became very real, and I instantly broke down. The first thing they did was greet me with kindness and hand me Kleenex. Such a small gesture, but it meant everything in that moment. They took the time to talk with us about Kaid's life, and right away they felt like family. They were incredibly kind, respectful, and compassionate, making sure Kaid was as comfortable as possible the entire time. They surrounded him with the love he deserved and gave us so much support and comfort too. They thought of everything. When his paws got muddy, they had wet wipes ready. In what was one of the hardest days of my partner's life saying goodbye to his dog of 15 years, I cannot say enough kind words about the support and care Dr Yamamoto and her team gave to us. They provided us with multiple phone consultations, including looking at videos over email all without any fees or asking for any compensation, to help us decide to make the right decision for his girl. This weekend I had to put my beloved 5 year old dog down unexpectedly and didnt even know where to begin. I was given peaceful pets information from a nearby Vet and called immediately. The pricing is a little higher than going to your vet's office, but to have it done inside your house, on your dog's favorite bed and blanket, with the care and professionalism they provided was absolutely worth it! Bubs did well for 2-4 months but come May and Bubs lost mobility and was no longer able to use the back two legs. I was heart broken and called Peaceful Pets to inform them. It's impossible to express to any non-pet owner the excruciating difficulty in choosing a time to help your faithful companion move on from the physical realm. Never mind the complex set of individual circumstances and arrangements that have to be set up once that decision has been made. When we arrived that point with our sweet pug, Lenny Brisco, just two weeks after his 15th birthday, we sought out as much advice as we could get. I made a lot of calls and sent a lot of DM's only to find out that my current Vet, my previous Vet, and three other friends all raved about Dr. Yamamoto and her staff. So I reached out and had a nice chat with Elizabeth who was able to clearly explain the process, the choices I had to make and what dates/times would work for us both. I texted Dr. Yamamoto the day of and asked her to back into my driveway to ensure a speedy and private exit. She followed my instructions to the letter and arrived promptly at the agreed upon time. From there she called the shots and, expertly guided us through the process. Both she and her assistant, Kyra, clearly had abundant experience in doing this very difficult thing under really unpredictable circumstance with tremendous grace and effortlessness. They were able to win the trust of our very skittish Boston Terrier/ Pug mix Hamlet, who was incredibly protective of us all, but especially Lenny. He was included in the process and was given (encouraged) to pay his final respects to Lenny an ensure that he passed painlessly. I was amazed to see how well they handled Hamlet who would normally be barking his head off with two strangers in the living room. My wife was very attached to Lenny and was concerned about what would happen immediately after he passed while she was holding him. But they totally eased her concerns and simply allowed the process to go forward without any complications. Calling for Peaceful Pets was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. How can you ask someone to come and take your beloved pet from you forever? He was the closest I'll ever come to having a child. I knew it was his time, but it was still incredibly heartbreaking and hard. I didn't think I'd ever get to a place where I could just stop crying for a few minutes. The person on the phone was so, so sweet and empathetic. They were very helpful and kind and even offered to communicate via text message instead of another phone call, seeing that it was difficult for me to even speak. They came a few minutes late, but I was so grateful for the extra few minutes with my boy that I almost wished they were even more late. Everything was explained before it happened. It still felt impossible and like my heart was being ripped out of my chest, but they did as much as they could to ease the strain. I was offered a clipping of his fur to keep, and they also offer public or private cremation and a ceramic pawprint. The private cremation will take approximately 2 weeks and was an additional ~$250, and I think it was $50 for public, where the ashes will be spread at Redondo Beach with other pets as well. They sent me a handwritten sympathy card in the mail and contacted our primary veterinarians for me so that I wouldn't have to make those calls. The card was very sweet and though I'm sure they have a thousand of these generic cards, the handwritten note added a heartfelt personal touch to it. They were so genuinely kind and helpful. I couldn't imagine having to take my boy to an uncomfortable doctor's office to say goodbye. They gave me the option to give him a comfortable last day in his favorite spot at home, surrounded by love. Worth every penny. Thank you. read more
