My baby, Deieson and me, Thanksgiving, 2021
    Shelley W.

From my very first interaction with Guardian Animal Aftercare, now known as West Coast Pet Memorial to my last, each and every encounter was met with extreme professionalism, kindness and concern. I completely understand why Guardian Animal Aftercare has a perfect 5 out of 5 star rating, and I absolutely agree in every way. Laura assisted me and put me at ease with the process, assuring me with visual proof as to how my baby would be taken care of and not lost in the process. Shannon is one of the most compassionate, empathetic and kind human beings I have ever met and she was willing to help me in my time of need in any way that she was able. My baby was taken care of with love and when he was returned to me, every detail was beautifully put together to keep my memory of him alive. I highly recommend Guardian Animal Aftercare. Thank you so much for your kindness.

Such a heartbreak losing my precious mare. I had her brought to Guardian and am so grateful for the service they provided. I brought home in a beautiful wooden chest. Her red mane was braided with green ribbons along with a lock of her mane and her forelock. Her shoes were polished and is a separate velvet pouch. Her ashes were in a large velvet bag. I will treasure. having her with me always.

Losing my beloved Louis was a horrific experience. Guardian Animal Aftercare was so helpful in answering all of our questions and treating us with kindness during a very difficult time. It was very important to us that our dog have a private cremation. There was also a lovely assortment of urns and options to choose from. We got everything which was offered...a paw print with a little fur vial, an ink print of his nose and paw, hair tufts, and two urns (one to keep at my apartment and a larger one for my parents home). Everything was presented so beautifully in blue velvet bags and boxes and came exactly as expected. They offered us time if we needed to say goodbye to our baby and did not rush us. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone who is looking for a similar experience.

Thank you to Shannon from Guardian Animal Aftercare for her kindness and compassion... our beautiful girl BISS. GRCH. OTCH Aratone Foxglove Make Men Blush "Nars" passed away, and we entrusted Nars to them. Shannon brought us to a private room where I could say my last goodbyes. I remember there was an aquarium in the room, and for some reason the fish in there, having that life in there, was consoling to me. Shannon was so kind and understanding. For 15 years, Nars was my loyal companion. Her passing hit me so much worse than any beloved dog we have lost in the past. 15 years was just not long enough. Every day with her was a privilege and honor. Today, her ashes were returned to me just like they promised. I am so heartbroken and sad, but Thank You for helping Nars and I in our time of need.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! We drove 40 minutes from Oxnard. We arrived at the place at 2:30 Saturday afternoon, the place was closed the office doors were locked. They close at 4PM Saturday so I arrived on time. We called the office, no answer, called again no answer. No one picks up the phone. The back was open, with cars behind it and gates were open. We beep horn again again no one awnsered. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME! I DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE!! Outside the business they are homeless encampments and area is dirty. The place is filthy!!

I love the paw print and pretty bag that includes some of her fur. (Angel statue with cat thanks to sissy) pretty plaque and box

Interesting JASSY fact: She was born in the back of a Lexus in my ex husbands car junk yard in Sun Valley, CA approx 20 years ago - Guardian Animal Aftercare is located in same small city- likely a few blocks from where she was born. When I received the call her 'box' was ready for pick up and the location, was the only time I smiled at the irony of it all during this tough time. Admittedly it feels incredibly odd & surreal to write a YELP review and THANK someone for properly and gracefully cremating your best friend, but here I am doing so; truthfully, when BETTER to write a yelp 'thank you' review I guess? Wonderful Dr. Gote brought my beloved Jassy here after she passed in the comfort of my home recently. I trusted his contact here and knew she was literally in good hands. Without over-thinking it (as I dont know the BEST verbiage to show my immense gratitude), MANY THANK YOU's for being so compassionate with my princess, and returning her wrapped in beauty and care. The box & engraving is beautiful; the the organza pouch with her paw print, and fur, tied beautifully with pink ribbon is such a thoughtful touch. A+ turn around time, staff, & communication.

Our hamster died and I called for a quote on cremation for my little guy. I spoke Caroline and she was so helpful and sweet. Price and customer service is amazing. Beautiful cremation box with the hamsters name on it to comfort my daughter.

Truly so grateful that we found Dr. Jeanette and her partner (forgive me for forgetting names). Our 15.5 year old terrier, Thai, took a quick decline and we knew it was time. I text the doctor and she made herself available the next afternoon, which happened to also be a Saturday. They understood how difficult the process was and treated Thai so sweetly and were incredibly loving and gentle to him - he trusted them without any doubt and was at peace. They were respectful and let us have a moment alone with Thai before taking him in their car in a bed they provided and set up so nicely - even though he was gone, it touched me that he was given a nice space for his ride to their facilities....and a week later (today) we received Thais cremations back through the mail in a beautiful wooden box. Hopefully it will be a long time until we need Guardian Animal Aftercares services, but I cannot recommend them enough and will urge friends to use them. Thank you all for making such a difficult time a little easier and showing our best friend such kindness.

When my beautiful Angel passed I had no idea how to proceed with the next step. Luckily my veterinarian contacted guardian animal to come and pick up my baby. I immediately googled to read their reviews and check their website. I was so pleased to read that the owner of GAA explains how they carefully cremate so no ashes are ever mixed or contaminated. When my baby was ready for cremation , they sent me an email. With tears and heartbreak my heart was torn, but during this vulnerable and difficult time they made it a bit easier. Thank you for what you do!

Our hamster, Mocha, unfortunately passed in the early hour of Saturday 2nd April and we frantically looked for a cremation place because we didn't want to leave her frozen. I chose Guardian Animal Aftercare because of all the positive reviews. I filled up a form on their website and received a call back the same day. The cost was worth it and I paid extra for the clay paw print - they didn't disappoint. They even let us cremate our hamster in the mailbox (her favorite hideout) we brought her in. I loved that it was hassle-free, especially while grieving. Thank you for taking care of Mocha's cremation.

This review is limited to the ashes and keepsakes I got from them for my late cat. Last week I lost my cat of 12 years, Oliver, to cancer. He passed away fairly suddenly when I took him to Animal Speciality Group (VCA) in Glendale because he had been throwing up non-stop and seemed to be in pain. Turns out his tumor had been bleeding internally and he was severely anemic and the cancer had apparently spread aggressively across large portions of his body, so I made the difficult but necessary decision to let him cross the rainbow bridge. At ASG/VCA, I purchased a cremation and keepsakes package, which I would later learn was being handled by West Coast. I just got the urn and keepsakes today in the mail and I really could not be any happier (other than if I could get my little buddy back). The wooden urn I chose was just beautiful, but I am especially blown away by the small vial with his hair inside of it; West Coast made a point to display his black and white fur in a beautiful pattern so I can always remember my tuxedo boy. I also did not ask or even pay extra for a paw print but I was so emotional and glad to find that West Coast had prepared one for me anyway. I really appreciate the work they did here to memorialize my boy. Thank you, West Coast, for your thoughtful work. Pictures include how I've set up the urn and vial of hair on my little altar for Oliver.

My heart goes out to those reading this who are experiencing the loss of their pet…read more The services West Coast Pet Memorial provided were beautiful and brought us comfort at a time of unbearable pain. I had to write a 5-star review to memorialize our experience, and to have ready to recommend my friends when the time does come. I have relatives who have been quoted exploitative prices in the thousands for pet cremation from other places, so their choices were very narrow and traumatizing. Fortunately, here it was really affordable for a private cremation for a small dog and we had a selection of beautiful keepsakes to choose from. Our beloved dog Big Bear, an 8-lb Pomeranian just shy of his 16th birthday, passed away at the emergency vet on Monday. I picked up his ashes on Saturday and buried him on Sunday. The emergency vet had a partnership with West Coast Pet Memorial Services. I received an email to call about cremation services and keepsakes. The staff were very kind, offering their condolences. The private cremation service was affordable, less than $200 for a small dog, and came with a few complimentary urns. We opted to pay for a biodegradable urn with pressed flowers so we could bury his remains in the garden. For the keepsakes, we purchased clay paw prints, ink paw prints, ink nose prints, and fur clippings. We wondered if we were doing too much, but we have no regrets! The keepsakes were great quality, and so, so good. The prints were all so well done. My brother got the fur clippings, which I decided not to get because I had clipped some fur myself, and I wished I got my own because the sight of his fur and the volume in the baggie brought me such comfort. When I went to pick up his remains, the place was quiet and clean. The staff were really kind. Another person came in saying they were bringing in their pet. No matter how your goodbye looks, I trust this place to handle with care and tenderness. My family and I are truly grateful.

Ariel was God sent to me. The way Ariel memorialized my little sassy girl Cutie was more than I could ever imagined! Ariel engraved all four of her paw prints in a heart shaped terracotta stone along with her tail which gave it that extra special unique touch. The ability to feel her feet and hands by tracing my fingers along each anatomical groove brings a smile to my face. Cutie would often times take her front paw and wrap it around my finger and now I can replicate that feeling over and over thanks to you Ariel. Ariel inked my Cutie's paws, nose and whiskers too! When I saw the prints it brought me back to when I use to touch her nose and she would look at me and I could just feel her smiling at me with her eyes. We had the pleasure of Dr. Susan Chao come out to our home on Friday, March 20. We had a 9 am appointment (the first one of the day) and she arrived a little before. She had called me about 15 minutes prior to let me know that she would be arriving within 15 minutes. When she arrived, my husband and I greeted her and had her walk to our backyard, as this was the place I had wanted for our little girl because she loved being in the backyard to sunbathe. Dr. Chao was wonderful at guiding us through the process, explaining every step of the way and allowing us to take our time to say goodbye to Muffin. She also allowed us to give Muffin treats during the process (Muffin's last meal was a chicken nugget from Burger King and pureed chicken that Dr. Chao brought, which Muffin really did enjoy eating). Dr. Chao also did cut a piece of Muffin's fur for us to keep and placed it in a small plastic box, which she put in a small mesh bag and gave it to us as a keepsake. Muffin passed away on March 20, 9:31 am. Dr. Chao gave us some time to spend with Muffin right after and just walked towards the side of the house so that we could have privacy. Afterwards, she placed Muffin in a basket and then we walked with her towards the front of the home so that she could take Muffin with her to eventually be cremated. About two weeks later, I contacted Hearts and Halos to ask if Muffin's ashes were ready for us to pick up (please note that the company can also mail your pet's ashes to you, but we just preferred to pick it up in person). I had a hard time getting ahold of them via telephone, so I emailed the company and was able to arrange for a pickup time. I was told via email that someone was supposed to contact us that day that I had emailed them about Muffin's ashes though... This past Thursday, my husband and I went to Gardena to pick up Muffin's ashes (please note that Hearts and Halos office is now in transition to moving to Hungtinton Beach). When we arrived, an employee came out and gave us a small gift bag, that held her ashes, seeds to plant in her memory and also a small brochure regarding aftercare and additional resources for the grieving process. I do like the box that her ashes came in and also I love the small wooden heart with her name engraved on it and a small halo right above her name. The total cost for these services is $840 (you can pay via check, cash or credit card). You can also have additional items, such as an urn (which cost $60) or your pet's paw print, that will cost extra. If you do not wish to have your pet's ashes back, the cost would go down to $675, in which your pet will be part of a communal process to preserve their ashes and then will be scattered in the company's memory garden. Just as a price comparison, when we had to put down our other 2 dogs at the vet (both of our other dogs were of an emergent case and so we would not have been able to plan for their euthanasian earlier and so we would not have been able to utilize these home euthanasia services even if we had known about them at the time), at minimum, it would have cost $455 if we had made an appointment and had this service done during the day. However, both times we had to rush our dogs to the vet were during after hours and without an appointment, so the cost was around $560, which also did include their ashes. So, these home pet euthanasia services can cost an additional $100- $300 more but we felt it was worth the cost. We did not have to rush and deal with the stress and anxiety of the car ride from our home to the vet and also sit in the waiting room while they prep our dog and then say goodbye to them in the vet's office (where both of our dogs really hated going to the vet). The ability to allow Muffin to be in the comfort of her own home and to have foods that she enjoyed during the process was worth it for us. I highly recommend home pet euthanasia at home if you can afford it. I like to think that this was the much better choice for Muffin and hope that she was happy with her chicken treats right before she left us, keeping her in good spirits than to be stressed and anxious if we had chosen to bring her to the veterinarian instead. Thank you Hearts and Halos for helping us during this process.
