I have been to Green Light once before but it was five years ago. When coming back home to Wilmington for this trip we went for my brother's birthday and it was everyone else's first escape room. We did Alien Escape and got out with five minutes to spare and we used five hints. Would definitely say this room is great for beginners! Our game master was Micah and he was absolutely phenomenal. He was super helpful and very personable. We are already talking about which room we will do next time. We came for my husband's work holiday party. This was my second time doing an escape room but it was the first time I escaped. We did the Jurassic Park room which they said was an easier one. It was still a lot of fun and definitely challenging and creative. We did get hints on the ipad from Micah, he was helpful and gave hints perfectly. What fun! I hadn't done an escape room before, so as a gift I bought a room for my girlfriend and her family. We did the Brewery Heist, which according to the woman who ran it, is the most difficult one they have (8/10 difficulty). We started slow, but as we got the hang of it, along with a few hints, we were able to solve the puzzle with 15 seconds to spare. But we did it! We had heard rompers that they lock you in; they don't. They keep an eye on you via cameras and do offer hints via an iPad if they see you are struggling, although you don't have to look at it. They have several games you can choose from. If you are unsure of which one you would like to do, call them. They will help you decide. You don't have to buy the whole room if you don't have enough people, although I don't know how that works as we were the only ones there. Overall a great experience. I look forward to trying another. read more

My first escape room and we successfully escaped with only 2 minutes to spare! It was honestly so fun I highly recommend. We did the Brewery Heist which only has like a 40% success rate (I think that is what they said)... and 8/10 on the hard scale. There were 7 of us, and I don't think we would have been able to do it with just 4 or 5 people... so the more the better for this one! Our group of 10 did the Jurassic Labs room. It was dark and misty upon arrival and it was hard to see things , I thought it was not as much fun or interesting as others I have been in. We needed quite a few clues and it took us a long time to escape. Friendly welcome and pic at the end! read more

We had a great time trying to escape from the " Kidnapped" room ! Our host Micah was great and sent subtle hints when we were stuck. The room was interactive with lots of surprises ! My family and I decided to do this escape room same day. We were lucky to get 4 spots and ended up doing the alien room by ourselves. Jackson was so kind and friendly. He explained everything and made our experience great. We enjoyed the escape room and will definitely come back. And since our family was the only ones in the room we were allowed to remove our masks once we were in the room. Wish I could say more about the room but I wouldn't want to ruin the Fun! read more

A caveat that I am a huge escape room person and have exposure to a large number of brands across the country so my expectations might be too high - that said, I still really enjoyed myself! They are taking great COVID precautions with the lobby closed and the rooms all private. My party of 4 did the brewery room which was their hardest. We were able to solve without any clues and 20ish minutes to spare. I liked that puzzles were 'non linear' meaning you could work on a couple at the same time and they weren't sequentially dependent on you solving them. I also love when there is more than one space you occupy. That said, the production value of the rooms was a bit lower than the ones I've been to in NYC and DC- and the lack of apparatuses you use to solve a puzzle was less varied (almost everything was finding lock combos). Knowing what I know now, I'd still go back and would definitely recommend this place to escape room newbies. If you're an escape room aficionado, I would still tell you to go, but just temper your expectations a tad. read more

My father was coming into town to visit and I wanted to do a bonding experience with he, myself and my bf. We had the best time working on puzzles and although we needed clues sometimes, we escaped and the aliens didnt capture us!!! This room really has us thinking outside the box, some of the tasks we were like no way!!! Haha ok let's do it! It's a great chance to team build. It's a little expensive but well worth the money! Five of us went, ages 9-71, none of which had ever done an escape room before and really didn't know what to expect. Out of the five of us, my stepson and his son, ages 44 and 16, enjoyed it the most and were clearly the best at solving the puzzles. We were told during the orientation that we would only get clues if we asked but we found that not to be the case, which was more than fine because we would probably still be in the room without them! We chose the kidnap room because that had the easiest rating (7 out of 10). We made it out but went one minute over the allotted time. It's a fun rainy day activity to do, and it inspired my stepson to seek out some escape rooms in NY where he lives. As for us, while we enjoyed it, we would only return if we have out of town guests (hopefully smart ones) and are looking for something to do. TIP: it's probably best to go with no more than 8 people, probably even less. We had five and that was perfect. Too many might get hectic, but of course it depends on the personalities involved. read more

But the "in room iPad" gave us perfect hints, at just the right time We didn't escape within the hour, BUT, since it was a weekday, and they weren't busy, we played a little longer, got a few more hints, and ESCAPED. As a NYC escape room enthusiast, I'm always looking for something new, innovative, and exciting. I chose Alien Escape on my vacation because the description made me think I was in for a treat and I was very happily surprised when I completed the room. There are puzzles here that I've never seen before and require complete cooperation (in other words...impossible to do alone). I brought my family here who were complete noobs and they had a blast! The room was challenging but not overwhelming. The puzzles were fun and memorable and the overall experience left us wanting more! I gave a 4 out of 5 because one of the big puzzles wasn't working properly and we had to get help from one of the employees to "make" the puzzle work. read more

One really fun room and one somewhat less fun, but overall still a great experience! The first room we did was the time traveler room. This one was great--lots of really inventive puzzles, things that didn't rely too much on locks and combinations. Impressive tech, too, and some I've never seen before that was very fun to work with. The second was the alien abduction room, which wasn't as much of a hit with us. Yes, as they told us, it was heavier on the problem-solving than a typical escape room. The main issue for me, though, was the red herrings. They told us at the start that items marked with a purple gem weren't part of the puzzle, so naturally any items we found NOT marked we assumed were part of it. Not so. There were SO many unmarked items that weren't related at all, and we all wasted a lot of time trying to use them/figure out how they were related. I've heard good things about the Escape the Roxbury Room, and will try that next. read more

We did the beer heist and it was super fun!! Our group of 4 did it in 45 minutes. Lots of clues and locks.

4.5/5 stars. Stopped in here with a very large crowd so we were split into two groups. One group did the Brewery Heist, the other did the FBI room. I was in the FBI group. We had a ton of fun. It's a great team building exercise. I would say that the clues were pretty challenging. We were able to finish our room with about 20 minutes to spare. Apparently the Brewery Heist is much more difficult. The other group was unable to finish in the allotted amount of time and we had to wait on them to be unlocked. All in all, a great experience! Would definitely recommend this place to friends in the area or families on vacation. read more

This was our fourth escape Room and one of our favorites. We chose Kidnapped! There were four of us ages 14-68 and we were all able to participate. We also appreciated that the employee was paying attention to what we were doing when we needed hints. Next time we are in town we will be back to try another room. read more

It was so much fun! It was very clean inside. Definitely worth the money. Our game master was awesome. He knew exactly when we were at our limit and would give us very subtle hints. The scare effects were awesome. Love that you get to take pictures with funny photo posters after. Couple downfalls...I would complain about is, we had to buy 3 tickets even for only two people to reserve the room, or risk our time slot being booked from under us if we bought tickets for just us two at the door. So being proactive and trying to be sure you reserve you have to pay for a minimum of three people. No they won't refund the third person later either. We even went for our anniversary and they still wouldn't refund that third ticket. All in all we will go again just bummed we have to pay that much for two people goin on a date. read more

this is THEE place to go for an escape room experience in wilmington! everyone i dealt with, starting with calling before making a reservation to inquire about what room would be the best fit for my family, was extremely nice, patient, and helpful! i have to elaborate on their stellar customer service! on our breakout room day we were running a little late, stuck in traffic. i called to let them know that we wouldn't make the '15 mins before our scheduled time' window hoping they wouldn't give our spot away. David assured me everything would be ok and, even though i'm sure we messed up their schedule by arriving 5 minutes after our scheduled time, he was still very thorough with the briefing (we had 3 escape room newbies so that was crucial) and made us all laugh too! we did 'kidnapped' and they knocked it out of the park with this room. the major highlights that made this an exceptional experience for my family compared to some other escape rooms i've done: the story was innovative, the requested hints were applicable, and the room was brilliantly done. oh, we escaped!! with 1:30 left! when we're together again we'll for sure go back and do 'escape the roxbury'! go here, you won't regret it! read more
