We were hoping for something more…read more The place was easy to find and had a lot of parking for it being on that part of the island. They have a banner on the outside of the building that gave a good photo backdrop to match the pirate themed room. We booked a 12:45 "Lost Treasure of Topsail" room and got there a little early to use the bathrooms before we started. The bathroom was nice and clean, and the employee was very friendly. We were told we had to lock our phones up in the lobby area so it did not interfere with the technology in the room, but then they gave us an iPad to use in it. The iPad was used to unlock the room and start the clock, but that was about the extent of the technology that was used in the room. Without giving away any clues, I'll just say we were not impressed with any of the puzzles, it felt as if all but one puzzle was controlled by the host and not by actually triggering an opening. We've done a ton of escape rooms over the years, and while this gave us something to do to escape the hottest part of the day, I don't see us doing the "Lost Treasure of Topsail" room again. Hopefully the other room and the outside escape are better and something we could try later on.

The kids all took the lanterns, and that was probably a mistake, haha. I would have preferred if the whole thing wasn't in the dark (e.g. if we solved some clue and the lights went on it would have been AWESOME). Some of the puzzles were too much of a stretch, and that can be frustrating. But there were still some good reveals and everyone had a great time (though we didn't escape in time. However, it's because some of the puzzles were a bit illogical or went on for TOO LONG- I'm ok doing SOME math and SOME cipher decoding but when you're required to keep doing more of the same, it's just tedious). I'm still a fan of escape rooms but this one was just ok!

The rating for the room's difficulty was true for what we experienced we managed to solve all but the lab which was rated as the most difficult which we still had fun. Chris at the desk was amazing and very accommodating to all of our questions. Highly recommend going and we do plan on going again!

One of the locks in our room didn't open so they paused our game time while they came and opened it, so it didn't affect our time. I was not at all a fan of the "group" clue we had in our "New Blood, New World" room, hopefully they don't have something like that in every game cause it totally killed the experience!!! (That's the only reason they didn't get five stars) We escaped the room with time to spare and got a button with our picture taken at the end.
