If you are ever in New Bern, NC, you need to eat at MJ's Raw Bar and Grill. My wife and I were in…read morethe mood for seafood and I did a Yelp search. There were a few restaurants but MJ's stood out amongst the rest for the photos and reviews. MJ's is located in downtown New Bern. The restaurant is not very big but the wait (20-25 mins) was worth it. We ordered the Admirals Platter which had oysters, clams, shrimp, and crab legs. The oysters were steamed to perfection, the clams were not dried out, the shrimp was perfectly seasoned with Old Bay and red onions and the crab legs were not dried out. What I am trying to say is, the seafood was fresh and not pre-cooked. It was cook to order. Our waiter was awesome. Even though the restaurant was packed full, he paid attention to our needs. Our glasses never got empty. He kept our table cleared by replacing the shell bucket without asking. We really appreciate the customer service. After dinner, we decided on dessert and had the lemon blueberry pie. I highly recommend it ... deliciousness!!! Thank you MJ's for a special time with delicious food. If we are back in New Bern, you will be a definite choice for seafood.

A customer told me these were the best subs he has ever had. I was not disappointed. I got a honey glazed ham sub with mayo salad tomato and cucumber. The bread was fresh, the meat was very tasty. The egg salad was amazing, tasted like a deviled egg without the paprika. It is also made fresh to order. I just regret not bringing more people to taste different subs The place has 6 tables and a counter with 4 stools.

I've attached a photo of the menu; the offerings are okay -- not bad. I got the build-your-omelet with bacon, spinach, mushrooms, and cheese. I asked for a side of sour cream, but got an excuse that they didn't have any because they apparently are "usually out of that by Sundays." To be fair, that isn't the server's fault but more of a reflection on the establishment overall. If you're gonna serve brunch, then you need to order your supplies and keep them stocked like you do that bar (which is extremely well stocked). The morning brunch service was a bit slow; and when my omelet came, it was ... what shall we say ... anemic? It was the smallest in size and flattest/skinniest omelet I think I've ever had anywhere. Let's put it this way: I was still hungry when we left. Orange juice was good; I wouldn't get the coffee again. When our server finally came to our table to check us out, she didn't know how to use the restaurant's own coupon to deduct it from our bill. My sister can save the coupon for later, but ... really? This joint is in a nice spot of downtown Wilson, within walking distance of the new baseball park and other restaurants and bars. It's one of several places that you could "bar hop" on a Friday or Saturday night with friends. That may be a different experience -- but R&R's brunch has some work to do.

This restaurant is in a strip shopping center and in the area of local hotels. We were seated near the bar which was a nice booth with raised barriers between tables which made conversation easy. Our server Kaydi quickly came over to offer drinks, an energetic tone, a positive smile, and the refreshing Southern "yes ma'am/sir." I got the Blues Brothers Burger with sweet potato fries, a very tasty lunch, and filling. We were offered to-go drinks, a cordial touch. Pricing averaged about $25 per person, a very reasonable price for the value delivered. Overall, we will certainly be back the next time we're driving along the east coast. I hope we're lucky enough to meet Kaydi again, as she's an asset to this establishment.
