I did some internet research and found The Organic Bedroom, I also found people with similar stories to my own. Joey and Vicki are the store owners and helped me to understand flame retardants as well as what foam (in most typical new spring pillowtop mattresses) is made of. I am happy to say that I'm sleeping on a much less toxic mattress and cannot wait to purchase a mattress from them. I'm slowly re-vamping my bedroom and making it clean and have the following items from their thus far: -- 2 Shredded Latex Pillows (made of natural latex with an organic cotton cover) -- A set of Bamboo Pillowcases -- A crib mattress for a friend, as well as an organic cotton fitted sheet for it. -- A washable wool mattress protector -- An organic merino wool comforter (my most recent addition) I dare say I sleep on a cloud now after these additions to my bedroom. My last step is a mattress and I will definitely go buy it from them because of their honest customer service and ability to answer all of my questions. I couldn't be happier!

Dave and his partners are brilliant and expert artists. Our experience was absolutely wonderful!…read more We went to Dave with a vision of what we wanted for our master bedroom furniture (bed, night stands, and chest of drawers) and some pictures of styles we liked. Dave got right to creating a few different drawings from what he had heard and seen in our conversations. He was super responsive and open to feedback, and very patient as we changed our minds (wood type, style details, etc... very patient!). When the big reveal came (aka delivery), we were grinning from ear to ear. Even from very detailed computer drawings, you never quite know what you'll get, but our delivery was better than we could have ever imagined. Dave and his team take their profession to the next level, and you will not be disappointed either. On a side note, Dave is very very involved in the community. I only learned of this when we saw his family out at a museum a few months later, but it further warmed my heart to know we were customers to such a talented artist and wonderful man (he is an incredible foster parent).

But I'll be damned if this isn't some really fine furniture here made and sold by decent, interesting people. The staff of Hill Country Woodworks makes all of their own furniture from scratch in their shop (located just a few miles away). The stuff in the store itself is sort of a glorified display case, giving the customer an idea of what's possible so to help them decide what they'd like the staff to make. It's a great system put to excellent effect. You can tell talking to the workers that they enjoy their craft, and beyond that, they're good at it. The pricing is a huge thing, since custom-built furniture doesn't come cheap. But if you have the means and you like high-quality furnishings that with a classy, understated elegance, Hill Country should be your first (and only) stop.

We went into this store after going to a competitor down the hallway, and we were so happy with the service we received that we purchased a mattress on the spot. They have financing options, which were fabulous, and as it is Memorial Day weekend, they had several sales happening. We were very happy with the service we received and absolutely delighted with the mattress that we purchased. They will deliver it and haul away the old mattress free of cost. The store is great. The staff is great. And I am so grateful it's close to our home.

I was indecisive about which mattress to buy and most stores only have a few to try so I went to the company flagship store for the Raleigh region. They have a complete assortment of all products, and all the associated items like sheets, pillows etc. My sales person was Joe. He was from their Georgia store and helping out. He provided me the best shopping experience. Full of product knowledge he guided me through the different mattresses and made it super easy to narrow down my choices even going as far as laying down sanitary disposable sheets on two beds so I could do a back and forth comparison. Joe was also able to clearly explain the different bases offered and I tried every option. My shopping experience was 1.5 hours long and he was positive and helpful the entire time. This bed is premium priced and I got the white glove treatment shopping. In the end I bought the product that was exactly right for me and if it is as good as this shopping experience I should be set for a long time.

Neat furniture store in Durham. They have moved from their original location, the address was wrong…read moreon Yelp so we originally walked to an empty store front. The new location is just up the street about a block or two. My husband and I like mid-century modern furniture so Area has been on our list to check out for a while. I had been to their Greensboro location before, but never their Durham location. The store is fairly large with a concentration on couches and chairs. We went in look for a desk and they really only had one option so it wasn't a big hit for us. We liked quite a few of the light fixtures so we will probably be heading back in to purchase those. The person working who I am assuming is the owner was friendly, as others have said he was happy to answer questions, but not pushy at all.

It's rare to find someone who truly cares about helping customers find the right fit rather than just making a sale. If you're shopping for a mattress, I highly recommend asking for Jerry. Exceptional service all around! Patrick the manager was also very helpful!

Unique ***** Modern *****…read moreQuality ***** Variety **** Expertise *** Hard sell *** Parking ***** Location ** Price * (high) Different from other Raleigh stores (Haverty's, Bassett, Ethan Allen, La-Z-boy, Rooms to Go, etc.); Ambiente's furniture is all high-end, modern, cutting edge designs, unique pieces. Every other store has stodgy, traditional pieces that are so boring. (Basset's idea of cutting edge is offering memory foam cushion options.) At least Ambiente is fun and interesting to browse. If you're looking for an Ekornes Stressless chair, Ambiente has the best display of multiple colors and styles. FYI, those chairs are $3k each; most leather chairs cost just as much now. I have 2 Ekornes chairs that are 10 years old, extremely comfortable, still in style, and look brand new. I was shocked to see how much furniture prices have increased post-covid, and good luck getting custom pieces in less than 9-12 mos. due to supply chain issues. Most places don't sell showroom models, either. Buy "made in NC" for faster (yet still slow) delivery. Most of Ambiente's pieces are made overseas. I was looking for a sofa sectional. The first one I saw was beautiful. Price tag showed $11K. Who can afford a sofa that costs more than a car? I found a suitable sofa sectional at Bassett, but I left the store after I found out it was $8K. "It's 30% off!" Down from 10K. Since furniture costs are so high now, you might as well pick something you like enough to keep for decades. I even shopped online for sofas and discovered they are junk not made to last long but suitable for a first apartment.
