I had a hunch I would like them when I first heard their name! - - "Green" everything sounds good to me! And a then I looked at their site, and met with designer Tad Biskup. They were phenomenal! I was SO excited to see my Dad's beloved flat made as beautiful as could be - they did us proud! So much of the staging I have seen lately has been clunky and unattractive. Tad made our flat elegant and sleek and just so gorgeous! I had just been able to replace the old carpet (should not have looked old, but it did!) with sustainable waterproof cork that looks like white oak, and that was the perfect backdrop for their magic! I almost cried when I saw the pictures! The round mirror over the fireplace looks incredible! And we got a great price and a terrific new owner. I contacted Green Couch after seeing a review of them for their staging services on a real estate blog. After a brief conversation, they scheduled an appointment for interior design services. Ok so far. A few days later, I met with Jeff. He seemed nice, took a look around my place and said he would get back to me with some ideas. No measurements, no pictures, not much of anything. A few days later, he calls and wants to hit me with a $250 bill for the "free" initial consultation. WTF? Put down the crack pipe! After a short conversation we saw eye to eye on my side of the issue. Jeff then said, that he just hired a new designer Lisa B. and that it would be best to work with her as he was not really a designer but more of a stager. I agreed and made a "free" consultation appointment with Lisa B. Lisa showed up at my house, late and unprepared. No camera, no measurements etc. After a initial consultation, she promised to provide me a sample mock up for my review. Being so unprepared, I had to give her my only copy of my floor plan. We met a week later, and she presents to me a mock up that consisted of 75% of the items I pointed out to her. Let me get this straight, I show the designer examples of what I like and she then puts my suggestions in a binder and wants to bill me for it. Anyhow, she handed me a contract for my review. She also informed me that she did not bring my plans with her. A few days later I called to discuss the contract. To my suprise, I found a bill for her "free consultation." When I brought this up, I was told that I received a free consultation when Jeff came out and did nothing to follow up. Again, WTF? When I asked if they would waive the fee they became insulted and refused to work with me. Moreover, they kept my blueprints and have not returned them even after I have left 3 voice mails for them. Totally unprofessional, totally unethical. With service like this, they should be out of business soon, or at least I would hope so. read more

I had a horrible experience with Green Couch which compels me to write my first review on Yelp. If you're reading this I advise you to look elsewhere for your interior decorating needs. I'm familiar with Green couch through Real Estate and their staging business. After seeing their work I thought I give them a try with my new two bedroom condo. I called and asked them come out and do a consultation. I met with Jeff and Lisa, I showed them my place explained what I needed help with. I provided them a number of resources from catalogs to articles tear sheets a whole stack of stuff I was considering purchasing. I was direct with them I asked them up front for estimate of what their service would cost me. I gave them a budget and asked them about their availability . A few days went by and they sent me an estimate I reviewed it called them a few times to confirm the amount they wanted. I signed an agreement and left a deposit $700 deposit. A few weeks later after no additional calls or consolations they presented what they had in mock binder it was full of furniture I would never consider purchasing. To make matters worse I had told them my budget was $20,000 to $25,000 their proposal had price tag of $49,000 more than double. As a designer they should know how important it is to work within client's budget let alone make sure he/she likes what's presented. I couldn't believe it, I showed these people countless examples of what I like and they put together a binder full of furniture I wouldn't dare purchase especially at price double my budget. To top it off Jeff the principle tells me he's leaving for Africa for the entire month of December to January. Unprofessional and incompetent doesn't even scratch the service of what I think of Green Couch. That night I wrote them an email explaining how absurd and disappointed I was. I explained that we simple could not work together and requested they return my deposit and materials. Instead they try and bill me for $1700 claiming that they spent 10+ hours putting that stuff together. So not only did they violate my two requirements budget and availability. They quoted me estimate of roughly $1300 for whole project and magically that number was reached before any actual work was done. Outrageous I demanded my deposit back they refused claiming that the contract allows for them to keep my money. However upon review there is no clause for cancelation by either party as far as I'm concerned they violated the terms of agreement and essentially withheld my deposit. I've tried to work this out with them but it looks like I will have to take them to small claims court. I share the opinion of the other reviewer who posted a negative review about Green Couch they are totally unprofessional, unethical and just plain bad at interior design. With service like this, I plan on putting the word out not to use them. read more

Horrible experience! Expensive! Questionable service. Pretty bad interior aesthetic. And read the fine print. Those are the headlines. They were flaky hard to reach as well. I contracted them for a mid-century home for sale in SF. They seem to pay no attention to the aesthetic of the home nor care. My sense is that they're too busy, staff is overwhelmed. The home is easily under 1500 sq ft. The initial quote for a 2 month period was over $10k. Got that down to $8k is, but they got it back again when they kept the furniture in my home after the 2 month period without my permission and charged me for it. Apparently, there is some language in the contract regarding this, but I was busy / unaware and suddenly was charged. Pretty uncool. I would not recommend these guys at all. read more

Tray was able to gracefully navigate the color consult with client's opinionated mother. They were able to work with some existing furniture and art choices as well as a budget. The staff was polite and quick with the install. Their design sense is contemporary and shows off our property amazingly well. These guys are amazing. So efficient. Great style. They really listen to what I want and they get it. They work with in your budget and they are realistic!!!!! I love this design company. They didn't waste a lot of my time. They got all their ideas together in a proposal made just for the work on my place with photos, estimates of time and hardware. When I needed measurements for flooring and windows and furniture they did all in one hour. I only paid a deposit that was 10% of the total cost. I worked with some other designer, and he was terrible and charged me a ton for stuff I didn't like so be careful who you choose. There guys are so professional and cool, young and fresh. They have done some amazing open houses, that's when I first heard about them and they designed my co workers home and it was beautiful. These guys were super stars in helping us with our recent home remodel- we couldn't have done it without them! They both helped us with all the necessary materials for our kitchen (which was the focal point of our project) from the counter tops down to details of the hardware peices. They also hooked us up with an extraoridinary cabinet maker who designed specifically for our kitchen. We are loving every bit of our new cooking space! Jeff and team are responsive, creative, have a significant inventory of upscale, modern furnishings and use them creatively. I've worked with Green Couch multiple times and I will continue to do so on all future projects that require staging. Trying to compare the work Green Couch puts out in relation to other staging companies is like comparing apples and oranges - Green couch brings very talented designers who transform a space down to the slightest detail.
