Greek Feast is a great spot in Northbrook. I expected a sit down restaurant but it's more of a fast casual as you order at the counter and they bring you your food to the table. The service is incredibly fast! The first time I went was with my husband and toddler daughter, she barely had time to sit down and scream for food because they brought everything out within 5 minutes of ordering. The soups are amazing and really flavorful. I also really liked the falafel plate and the pita sandwiches that I've tried. Last time I was there I got the wings and they were tender and very flavorful. My only gripe is that it's pretty overpriced for some items. Wow. This place is terrible to the point where it is kind of shocking. It used to be alright, but man.... Portions, first of all, are skimpy for the price. They give you plenty of pita, but not much of anything else. We got gyros, chicken kebabs and chicken gyros. It was skimpy across the board. But the real disappointment was the overall food quality. The taramasalata was fishy and had an awful after taste. I get taramasalata all the time from other places, this was borderline rancid. It was either old spread or the roe they used was really old. Either way, gross and I tossed it. I root for local places like this and it could be good. But it was terrible and I can't believe that Greek Feast has gotten to this point. They won't make it. We used to go here when it first opened and always enjoyed it. But, we shifted to Grill House. But, last night we literally turned around on our way to Grill House to try Greek Feast again. At 6PM the place was completely empty. Prices everywhere are high, but these prices are just ridiculous. I got a small (half) salad with falafel as my protein for $17.50. The salad came with 4 small wedges of flat, unappealing pita . The salad itself was completely uninspiring consisting of plain lettuce, tomatoes, onions, two olives, one pepper, and four small, quarter sized falafel balls. When I asked for tzatziki sauce, I was rudely told that any sauce was extra. My wife had a gyros wrap at around $15-17 (market rate should be $10-12). She seemed to like it. Food is served on a dish with plastic eating utensils. Given that there was NO ONE in the place, the management had an opportunity to please us. Instead, he alienated us. We will return to Grille House with far better food, far better portions, far better prices, far better environment, real silverware, etc. read more

Tables spaced wide apart with alternating closed tables and nothing patrons can touch besides a napkin station and a touch less water station make for a really "hands-free" experience. Seems like it is an only ever so slightly pared down menu but this is based solely on the number of menu screens operating - 1 less than before Covid. Got the Taverna Chicken plate. Chicken was dry, but spiced well. The fries were not fresh. And the lemon rice soup did not have enough rice. The meal came with a small portion of Tzitski sauce that was finished quickly due to the aforementioned dry chicken. An extra $1 for a dinky another portion. Crazy. I feel zero incentive to return. As I wrote this review and compared it to my last one, I realized that I managed to order the exact same items both times I've been here! As before, the grilled chicken wrap was tasty, and it seemed less messy to eat than it did previously. The feta fries are also great, and an order of fries is easily large enough to share. These particular items don't seem particularly Greek to me, aside from the tzatziki sauce for the wrap, but they taste good! I've frequented this restaurant many times over the years as an alternative to the now closed Teddyfabz and Cookers. This is my go-to restaurant if I don't feel like going to Mizrahi, Portillos, or Grill House. However, it's difficult to recommend this restaurant to co-workers anymore. As others have noted, there appears to be a decline in quality that has matched the increase in prices. I no longer feel the same joy when biting into a gyro stuffed with fries as I once did. The care put into crisping up the gyro strips and matching it with freshly diced onions and tomatoes aren't there anymore. Instead, it tastes rather flat and forgettable. The fries seem to be a bit overdone and the avgolemono soup seems a bit watered down and lacking a deep rich flavor. With an increasingly crowded landscape of lunch competitors nearby and viable alternatives such as Demetri's, Mizrahi Grill, or Grill House nearby -- it's difficult to recommend this unless the prices go down or quality goes up again. read more

Ordered lunch today through GrubHub... Taverna Wings were excellent. These were larger and meatier than what you get at those wing places...and far tastier! Marinated in the traditional Greek style (like you would find on a Greek style chicken)...oregano, olive oil, salt and pepper. Char broiled to a perfectly cooked temperature. They were extremely moist, tender, and full of flavor. These were served with pita wedges (which I opted against eating for dietary reasons) and Tzatziki sauce. Honestly, I forgot about the sauce until the last two wings, and I skipped it completely. Nice to have if you like to dip, but completely unnecessary as these stood on their own merit without the sauce. The Village Salad was excellent as well. I'm glad I opted for the half order, as it was filling with the wings. Sliced cucumber, fresh tomato wedges, thin sliced red onion, pitted Kalakaua olives and crumbled feta cheese, lightly dressed with extra virgin olive oil, chopped fresh oregano, and a sprinkling of capers. Most places will dress this with a Greek vinaigrette (which is an option), but it was perfect like this. The capers were a nice change of pace, as I have never had it with this style of salad anywhere. They added just enough subtle saltiness to the salad to balance out the richly flavored EVOO and bring vibrance to the flavor of the salad. This is a review of the "Greek Cheat" on Dundee Road in Northbrook. They claim to have big portions, and they have a huge fake gyro shaped building to entice you. I ordered the chicken gyros. It was my first time there. The pita bread looked like it came from a bag from Costco it was not homemade. The small portion of chicken gyro which looked really processed was not flavorful at all. I asked for no tomato, and they put it all on the small salad that comes with the meal. I was giving fries, but not enough fries. The amount that makes you ask why they didn't give you the right amount of fries. So because of the small portions of chicken gyro meat, fries and salad. Plus they added tomatoes to the salad when I said no tomato. I'm giving this restaurant two stars. Do yourself a favor and find a real Greek restaurant. I am a long time customer of Greek Feast. I order all the time. When I get Gyros, I always order Chicken. I just had surgery, and ordered a few dishes so I could have a few meals in my fridge. The next day I was looking forward to the Chicken Gyros, only to find out that it was Lamb. My sister had picked it up, because I can't drive due to my surgery. I called, and I had assumed the Manager would offer to give me a credit for next time, but I had to ask, and he said that he couldn't give me a credit. He would have taken a return if it was the same day, but not the day after. But, I didn't look at this until lunch the next day. I am astonished. I've never had a problem. Never called in with anything. Any nice person would have offered a credit, especially to a long term customer. I really can't believe I'm being treated without any care or consideration. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Speaking of lemons, their lemon rice soup (avgolemono) is some of the best we've found in the area. My expectations were pretty well managed before our first attempt because of so much lemon rice soup disappointment in my life; I was pleasantly surprised by a rich, warm bowl of soup. I consistently order the chicken gyro plate, which comes with chicken, tomatoes, and onion on pita. I only wish it came with feta - that would be the perfect meal for me. It's always seasoned perfectly and really good. Too often, I order chicken gyros other places and they just serve grilled chicken that isn't seasoned like gyros. Greek Feast hits it out of the park. My only critiques are the seating area is weird and there is ALWAYS a section that says it's closed - I've never seen it open - which means people are crowded into the dining area that is open when they get busy. But after looking at the menu, there were a couple good options. I tried the Pork Souvlaki. It wasn't good... it was great! The vegetables were fresh and the pork was tasty. Tiny portions of food for $20 is absolutely ridiculous charging as if they are a giving you quality one of a kind organic and a plate of food, or as if you are at a fast food restaurant in downtown when they are in northbrook. For that amount of money, go get yourself kabobs from Whole Foods and make them at home, buy a salad in a bag and pita bread the one that comes with 4 pieces. I was starving within 2 hours. Super stingy with their to go food, I got 2 "sides", more like 2 pieces of fries and a tiny cup of salad. It was a shame to see that little on my plate when I paid so much money in comparison to what I could have gotten elsewhere or store bought pre-made. They also have a lot of tables blocked off so everyone gets to sit in the middle corralled the way they want to limit you to sit only where they want. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place because it's hands down the best Greek food in the area! I love coming here even though it's out of the way for me. If I lived closer, I'd probably eat here every other day. I haven't had a single thing that I haven't liked. Souvlaki? Lemony and juicy. Gyros? Flavorful and great texture. Greek salad? Amazing blend of ingredients and perfect proportions. The salad dressing is on point. Their soup is also worth a try because it's thick and hearty. Their fries are the best style - thick, crisp on the outside and pillowy on the inside. Best with feta! I also love their jalapeño hummus appetizer. And, of course, their pita is bomb. I also recently tried the pastichio and was super surprised by how light and airy it was. I was prepared for a heavy lasagna style dish, but everything melted in my mouth. I think this place really lives up to its name because whenever we come here, we do end up feasting. The plates are very generous; I usually struggle to finish everything and still leave completely stuffed. The staff is always lovely and the place is always very clean. I will say that it's a bit pricey, but I've never felt like I wasn't getting my money's with. It's great for my wallet that we don't live close enough to frequent more often, but now, with fewer restrictions and warmer weather, I know we will be back more frequently.
