We were traveling through the area and had to have a slow leak fixed on one of our tires. The repair involved removing the tire from the rim and doing a patch. The man behind the counter, after waiting about an hour and a half, told me that when they removed the tire from the rim, that there was no pressure sensor on the rim or in the tire and stated that the last person to work on the tire must have destroyed it and put the tire back on the rim without the pressure sensor. I believed him and authorized him to replace the sensor and reprogram it on our truck. After 3 hours of waiting, they finally told me the truck was ready. My bill was about $160.
Since then, I have learned from other tire experts that a missing tire pressure sensor would cause a continuous blinking of the tire pressure indicator on the dash, indicating an error condition. I had no blinking red light on my dash before going to this tire store. Also, the tire pressure sensors are very cheap to purchase (Quantity 4, $30 total).
Bottom line, the guy behind the counter outright lied to me about the "missing sensor". They must have broken it when unmouting the tire. They overcharged me. And they kept me waiting for a long time when their shop was not very busy.
People who lie to their customers like this are theives and do not deserve to stay in business. read more
