The outside and even the front entry give the vibe of a "hole in the wall" so we were prepared to simply fill our stomachs, especially since we arrived "after the grill was closed" which in this case simply meant that the head cook had left. But a very, very pleasant hostess assured us everything on the menu was still up for grabs. We sat down in the front cafe, which has that feeling of a place that's been around since the 1970's and only occasionally renovated. Given my fifty years of restaurant experience, I was still in the mindset of being content just to have something to eat, so long as it was edible. My wife and I both were blown away. I forget what she had but it was "the best one she had ever had", and my barbeque sandwich was absolutely delicious. The crinkle-cut fries were hot, just crispy enough. Our expectations were exceeded by a mile, and it wiped away any preconceived notions I may have had by looking at the restaurant's physical presence. Our hostess, name forgotten but I hope she remembers being on duty on Wednesday the 13th and making our night, was always smiling, always gracious; and despite her having to attend to the back of the restaurant where the bar was located, she never left us hanging. The icing on the cake was the price! A comparable BBQ-and-fries anywhere in my hometown of Redmond, OR, is easily 17 bucks these days. My meal at The Grove was $12.99, a solid four dollars less expensive and yet still superb, everything I like in a BBQ sandwich and fries. Obviously I cannot speak to the daytime staff, or the barroom experience, but my wife and I left extremely happy and satisfied, and if we ever pass through Cottage Grove again, The Grove will be our first choice for grabbing a meal.

The Grove Bar & Grill - Keeping prices down is a good thing but you need cash.

Just moved to town just a little over a month ago and decided to check this place out…read more First off the owner Bart is a real kind and down to earth fella. Really nails that small town vibe. One of the Bartenders, Jennifer is a real sweet gal and she works hard to make sure everyone is taken care of. I wasn't planning to eat but the feller sitting next to me ordered a good looking burger, but I was feeling chicken so I tried the blackened chicken sandwich and by golly it was sure fantastic. The tater tots are seasoned up real well and the chicken was full of flavor, layered with bacon. The bar itself is clean, well organized, with plenty of space. The stage hosted a man with a guitar that evening and he put on quite a show. Dart board upstairs is a fine addition . This is a smaller town watering hole done right. A great place to wind down after a long work week.

It's a legit meet up with friends, take a date venue. The menu and specials are always a thought out treat. Myself I look for a seat at the bar and order my usual Pork belly tacos, Prime Rib on Fridays or one of the fresh salads. I'm an early diner therefore, I haven't stayed long enough to listen to any of the live music. 5 stars

Gotta love a good Tiki Bar!…read more We had an hour to kill before an appointment so we Yelped unique bars in the area and found The Monkey's Paw in Springfield. The profile looked pretty cool so we decided to go there for a drink. Once inside, it was pretty dark which is typical for a Tiki Bar. The decor was very good and there was a lot of it around. My fave was the mermaid skeleton above our seats. The drinks options were plentiful and they even had jello shots for a bargain price (we had a few of these for good measure!). I had The Monkey's Paw classic drink and another in our party had The Invisible Man drink. Each was lovingly prepared by the bartender who was super cool with the prep and conversations we had with him. I loved walking around and looking at all the decor on the walls and ceiling. There's a lot to see. There's even a door that leads to a courtyard with several food trucks ready to serve you. There is a stage near the entrance for bands and a small dance floor. I would love to return one evening to check out the atmosphere and do a little boogeying! Give this place a try. It's a well done Tiki Bar and one of the better ones I've been to.
