Don't even think about it!!! I had the same experience as the other one star reviews. Was quoted a price and was told that unless I added a large item such as a sofa my rate would not increase. LIE! After they loaded the truck they doubled the price. I was also charged an elevator fee and was charged because they had to walk more than 75 steps. When my items arrived at my storage facility I had the driver (who came alone) put everything on a cart right off the truck and I took it to my storage unit myself. The driver insisted on taking the heavy items. After he finished I actually transferred what was left in my bank account to another account so they couldn't take any money out of my account. But on move-out day, the price suddenly jumped by $3,000, and Matt stopped answering. On move-out day, an unmarked truck showed up and claimed we had over 300 more sq ft than expected. They added $3,000 to the price and pressured us into paying it on the spot. They offered storage, then gave us less than 24 hours' notice for delivery, only to cancel due to "mechanical issues" and push us out another 3-5 days. Then, on delivery day, they said our driveway was "inaccessible" and demanded a $1,050 shuttle fee...without even trying to deliver. They used a years-old Google Maps image to justify it. We were told our stuff would go into storage at our cost if we didn't pay. When they finally delivered, the driver used a translation app to communicate. Our rowing machine was shattered, furniture broken, and multiple items were missing. No apology. No accountability. Our sales rep has been MIA since the day before move-out day. I am posting this as a warning: DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. Great Western Moving and their sister company Truck and Crew Moving service was truly some of the worst I've seen in quite some time. Disrespectful, predatory and now I have a damaged computer monitor I need to deal with. The lack of communication, accountability and transparentness cost me nearly $1000 more in expenses then I was prepared for despite me asking numerous questions when I initially got the quote. I didn't even see the official 'contract' until the day the movers were in my house and I had no other option but to move forward. I kept being blindsided by hidden charges, spur of the moment changes they expected me to cover, a driver who HAD TO CALL ME AND ASK ME IF HIS TRUCK COULD FIT WHERE I LIVED, forced me to change my move in date at my apartment a day early because if I didn't, they would force storage charges on me DESPITE ME specifying on multiple occasions that the earliest I could get my stuff was the 18th, and whenever I tried to get ahold of someone it was radio silence until FINALLY I spoke to people only for them to play phone tag with me and others because no one wanted to take accountability for the fact it is clearly a MESS behind the scenes. There is a distinct lack of structure to how they do things and if you can't pay up? They hold your belongings hostage and rack up the fees until it's basically impossible to get your stuff back. The day of delivery I wasn't allowed the chance to try and make sure the inventory was correct or undamaged because the SINGLE DRIVER (he had NO help moving any of my items, it was just him) they dispatched to my location kept rushing me so he could leave and told me to just file a claim. He even told me I could 'check the truck if I want' and was overall rude and impatient despite the already stressful ordeal. I'm also pretty sure from a liability standpoint I'm not even ALLOWED to get into the back of the truck. Because of this? I was forced to give up funds I needed for living expenses, I had set aside money to rent a car so I could drive down for a funeral of a loved one a few days later that also had to be used. I have a broken monitor which is UNACCEPTABLE because get this, I work from home. Truly, truly awful, from the day they picked up to the day they dropped off and I am still paying for it now. A beautiful web of lies from the sales team, I'll give you that. Good to know we saw something pretty before you devour us whole. They used an outdated Google Maps image and ignored the fact that 18-wheelers have made it up our driveway before. I was told they'd put our stuff in a random storage unit at my cost if I didn't pay. Under duress, I paid them. When they finally showed up the next day, the delivery driver couldn't speak English and used a translation app. Our rowing machine was shattered, furniture was broken, and several items were missing. If you want your stuff on time and not broken then DO NOT use this moving company. They delivered my things 3 weeks after they promised to deliver them. My dishes were smashed and tv screen broken. Terrible customer service- would never get back to me when I would ask where my stuff was. I moved from MN to NJ- they were supposed to deliver my things on June 28th, they did not deliver until July 22nd. At one point they told me my things were out for delivery on July 4th only to show up and realize my things weren't on their truck and still in a warehouse in Iowa??! No one could offer an explanation or an apology. Was ghosted by my point of contacts with the company multiple times. Left in tears almost everyday. This is only half the shit I went through with this so called "moving" company. PLEASE AVOID THIS MOVING COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. read more

This was a horrible experience and I don't recommend this company. Pick up went well and then it went downhill. Matt Pierce did the initial pricing but it's best to put in all your items online because mine wasn't accurate and the price went up. Also anything over 75 feet extra charge as well as for an elevator. Dispatch was awful at communicating. And Matt disappears. No one answering the main line either. My complex for delivery didn't accept an 18 wheeler inside the gates. Dispatch said they would have to get a small truck and obviously that's more money or charge for the extra feet , but it would be up to the driver. I couldn't get an answer as to what the driver wanted to do and I think my furniture was taken by a 3rd party. To cut a long story short I had to arrange a storage space and only one driver arrived. Not good for him or the furniture. He could barely manage the sofa and the ramp gave way and he had a horrible fall. I paid the remainder of the money owed and then a got a call from someone thinking I was great western and asking for my paperwork and evidence of payment reciting the exact amount I paid. Call was a Florida number and the truck from Florida and the driver Florida. Was this a 3rd party? My belongings were in a truck for 3 weeks approximately before delivery. My mom moved a few months back and left behind a few antiques including a very special grandmother clock. Matt and Dan went above and beyond with the protection of the items and delivery. We got all pieces including the clock in perfect condition. Highly recommended. read more

I had the MISFORTUNE of having to move interstate twice in the past 3 years... That first time, I was so nervous, but I chose Grand Express. And I am so glad I did! They were wonderful! Affordable, protective of my things, efficient, very considerate and in so many ways, good communicators... it was an overall good experience. Frustrated with the prospects of this move, at my wits end, I was ready to drive a truck myself; I put out an internet inquiry and heard from Mitchell at Grand Express. Their quote was lower than the 5 movers who came to access my weight. So low, it scared me. Mitch asked me what the others estimated my weight was, and he explained that he can save me money by NOT running out to the house to access weight. He said the foreman would know, once the truck was packed and they did know. The price they quoted me was exactly what I paid. I did buy outside insurance, which I did not need it. All of my mirrors, antiques and furniture were fine. I let them pack/crate those fragile things, so they would be covered by insurance. But NOTHING BROKE. NOTHING WAS LOST. When I learned that I had to move back to NY from Denver, I did not hesitate to call Grand Express Van lines again. Mitchell & Jonathan run the biz with integrity & I found them to be negotiable, good communication (about when my things would arrive) and flexible. Upon delivery, I told the foreman that the men in NY disassembled this and that & they reassembled those things. No tape marks on anything. NO SURPRISES. I liked that they did not charge more for a week-end pick up. I needed storage and they gave me one month free! Oh the other thing: There was a chance that I would have needed a shuttle because a 16 wheeler had never been seen on the mountain where I moved. It turned out to not be necessary, but their price for this was also lower than any one else! I am so glad I used Grand Express Van Lines. I am not a friend of theirs nor am I family. I had 2 great experiences with them and my daughter had 1 same experience. They charged what they quoted. nothing broke or was lost. hard working men, very considerate of my antiques. read more

We used this moving company last year for our move to Las Vegas from Connecticut. We had over 300 items shipped not one item was missing. I used them again yesterday for the final items that we had in storage. Yes the saying goes you get what you pay for but why pay a higher price for same results!!! Our problems just started when they showed up a day later than promised. There was not enough room on the truck to take our shipment, so it took them two days to load our belongings. Then the price more than doubled from $2933 to $7500, due to the fact that our shipment was never updated by the sales representative that we contacted several times (but at this point we were stuck because we had to be out of our house). They showed up late the second day to finish our move. They also had no boxes like we were promised. We had to wait nine days for our things to come and we were never informed that not all of our belongings would be delivered. So some of our things were still in storage and we didn't realize it until we sorted through them. We had some damaged items and were told we would be sent a claim form, by David, and we never got it. After at least two dozen phone calls and emails (one day I called 13 times in three hours and got voice mail every time) we were told the rest of our things would be delivered at a later date. We were promised a delivery date of 9/14/14 (27 days later) by Grand Express Van Lines and again our things were not delivered. We have been more than patient with this company but this is bordering on ridiculous. We have wasted quite a few days waiting on this company only to be disappointed. I have all the emails sent to and received by this company. This is like a nightmare that just won't end. There is a lot more to this tale but I don't have enough room to list everything. If you are thinking about using this company please do your research, you will think you are getting a deal but don't be shocked when your price increases and your thngs go missing. Read the critical reviews and take heed. I can only deduce that the good reviews were written by the company or their friends. The customer service is horrible, they obviously don't adhere to the rule that the customer is always right. How this company has a B rating with the BBB is beyond amazing to me. It took two days to ger-er-done as they say, but the crew employed by Grand Express is nothing short of astounding. The guys were like a well-oil-machine, that made the trip from Boston to New York worry free. The packing service was first rate, the time line it took to execute the move was right practically on schedule, except for a few hours lost due to a bottle-neck fender bender, and I only paid an additonal $125.00, several extra items that I added at the last minute, Overall, the move was the best out of three, one of which was a veritable nightmare, and the other was substandard. Anyway, I think anyone that uses this company, has nothing to worry about. They are great, the price more than reasonable,, and the only damage that was incurred was one broken a broken coffee cup. :-).. I loved this company. And though I don't expc to move again any time soon, if I ever do, I will SURELY NOT HESITATE TO USE GRAND EXPRESS VAN LINE. In a word, this moving company was simply Wonderful. read more

Use a reputable carrier or if possible rent a u-haul. The only good news is they were too uneducated to properly run a scam. They email contract that includes all services included based on your weight (ie .45 cents per pound is what we agreed to pay). The day before they deliver your stuff the driver calls and tells you that you owe about double what you really do. They justify that by saying you owe a fuel cost as well as additional packing fees that our contract explicitly states were included in the very simple agreement of .45 cents per pound shipped....If you ask they will send you an email that shows them charging you for those same services that are really included in the rate. Basically this is a written confession of breach of contract. We took these to emails to local police station just to have a law officer confirm this was a complete scam. We refused to pay the fraudulent charges and told them we would just settle in court. At that point they decided to drop all false charges...actually that point coincided when the employee-crook listened to my phone conversation with our local police supervisor asking for a civil standby and official witness so that we could get our possesions off of the truck...pay the ransom and then sue. read more
