I ordered Szechuan chicken (which is supposed to be spicy) and it was so sweet I couldn't eat it. Absolutely would not recommend.

They are more worried about making sure you sign your credit card receipt than the accuracy of your order. Tried calling to let them know that an item was missing from our order only to hear background cooking noises and something banging around. It's bad enough they charge a .75 cent processing fee for on line orders, but to also completely forget an order is just a little too much to ignore. read more

When I am in Bloomington to get groceries I always go to Great Wall to get pork egg rolls and or egg foo yong carry out. The pork egg rolls are always crisp, hot and very flavorful. The egg foo yong are big, fluffy and perfect. (No other way to describe them)!! The staff is always friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is always clean. I need cheerful readiness when I'm interacting with the workers. Very bland food very bland mood. What an underwhelming experience I had from start to finish. I ordered a chicken dish but can't seem to find any chicken. Just celery. Who puts celery in Kung Pao chicken? The food was awful and they must have changed chefs because they used to have decent dumplings and now they serve frozen bagged ones and have the audacity to charge over $8 for 6. Go to Shanghai market and purchase a whole bag of real dumplings for $15. I'll never go back. We have NO good Chinese places in town. What a shame. read more

Well... It was decent - I wasn't happy with the crab Rangoon (not that it was bad Rangoon just not what I would call traditional - the cream cheese filling seemed more savory that sweet). They have never let me down. Food is out quick and hot and served to your table. Take out is average time based on how busy they are. Food is always brought as ordered. Including small to very large orders. Small area to sit and eat. Could be nicer but a good place to grab a quick bite. Not a first date type of place unless you don't mind the relax feel. Chicken Chow Fun! I love big fat white gluten free noodle, they made it to a perfection. Taste perfect, I everything just right not greasy or salty. But most of all I don't taste msg! AWESOME! I'm allergic to Asian food if they use too much msg! Food quality was good. I liked all that I ate for the most part. 3 stars is because the inside of the restaurant was gross. Not taken care of at all. They have storage (boxes, coats, etc.) right in the middle of their "dining room". Also the customer service was non existent. I used to order from these guys every wednesday night. That's how much I love it. My favorite order is General's Tofu and Veggie Fried Rice. It's just delicious. What I love is that the fried rices are light and not greasy, they're flavorful and fresh. The vegetables are crisp and tasty. I love it! Anything that has a sauce on it, though, tastes like it'll give you a heart attack. But they still taste delicious. I mean, amazing. The food is fast and fresh. And occasionally they'll mess up an order on me (twice out of countless times) but they're always fast to fix the problem. One call and the delivery guy is on his way with what they forgot. Great Chinese! We've ordered take out a few times now and have been happy every time. There is an eat-in area available, but it is super-casual booths designed more for a quick in and out than anything else. The portions are generous, and if you are looking to save some calories, their light options (steamed meat and veggies with the sauce on the side) are really good. If you want spicy, ask for it. Quintessential greasy chinese place that offers huge portions and wonderful value. I would order off the board if ordering for one...the prices are 1990sesque (5.50 for a full meal) and the portions are more than satisfying for this big man. Tip- If you like things with some kick...even a little, ask for your dishes to be extra spicy...and for the general Tso's or Thai Chan chicken (or I suppose any deep fried chicken dish) ask for the dish to be prepared extra crunchy if you like crunchy/breaded style dishes. Try the Thai Chan Chicken. Another tip is if you aren't wild about the egg roll option you can always ask for extra broccoli in your dish instead....or like 3 crab rangoons. read more

I recently ordered a Mongolian Beef and it literally had maybe 2 oz. of beef at the most. It was ALL onion and awful! I had my two tiny pieces of beef and threw the rest away. I also recently ordered a Garlic Shrimp that had maybe 4 pieces of shrimp in it. Prior to that I ordered a seafood soup that had all "filler" in it - minimal good stuff like shrimp, crab, corn, etc. it was all broccoli and filler. Not good. I think it is something with this area where people must not tolerate spicy at all and the Chinese places serve it so bland. Was quick service and the food was hot and ready to go. Eh, ordered delivery with my friends because we wanted to try something new. We got beef fried rice, crab rangoons, generals chicken, mongolian beef, sesame chicken, and egg drop soup. The delivery was fast but the food overall was mediocre. Crab rangoons were nothing special, all you could taste was cream cheese. Beef fried rice was yellowish and did not taste good at all. Egg drop soup was thick and lacked any flavor. Mongolian beef was decent, and the generals was only so-so. I dont like dull food. Color makes food look much more appetizing, and the great wall had very dull food. I guess I am being a little picky because the chinese place in my hometown called Bao, had the best food. If a friend asked about this place, I definitely would not recommend it. read more

The few pieces of beef in the Mongolian beef tasted funny and the chicken was mostly fat. I tried this restaurant over a year ago. The staff was rude and the food was bad then. When I lived in Normal, I ordered take-out from Great Wall frequently, mostly out of habit. We got to know eachother well, Great Wall and I. Good Points: Oh, the things they know about deep-frying tofu. The texture, the almighty texture. I loved it so much I'd often forego the vegetables and just order a large container of deep-fried 'fu in brown sauce. If you call ahead for take-out, their estimate is almost always ten to fifteen minutes. Reasonable prices (usually around $20 for two entrees), good flavor, and a decent variety. Not-So-Good Points: Do not eat in at Great Wall ever, unless you'd like to feel utterly pathetic. No one eats in at Great Wall, and for good reason. The ambiance is abysmal. Their food can be a little inconsistent. From time to time I would find bits of a mysterious red jelly in my usual brown-sauced dish. If your stomach is sensitive to grease, you may want to reconsider. If you're craving Chinese, Great Wall will do you a solid. Not exemplary, but pleasing nonetheless. read more

Being a such a city slicker, I am not accustomed to dining from a strip mall. Great Wall seems primarily a carry out location, although they do have several booths to eat at. My companion and I split two entrees, pork moo shu and General Tso's chicken. I think most of my attention went to the General Tso's, it was drizzled in just the right amount of sweet spicy sauce, and the massive amounts of chicken were fried to perfection. I also had a cup of wonton soup to warm up and that seemed to be a meal in itself. Service was super friendly. Dinner for 5 with tea and extra fixings ran $40, with lots of leftovers to take home.
