I have been to every shoe store in the tidewater area and have met with less than unsatisfactory service. New Balance was the last place I had yet to try and did so on 8/12/25. My family and I walked in and was greeted immediately and asked if there was anything I was looking for. I went there looking for a particular shoe that they offer but they did not have in stock. Nick, was the gentleman that assisted us and I explained my situation and he knew exactly what I was talking about and started to educate me on the shoes they offered that could help my condition. I tried in several pairs as we talked about hip-hop and how the music has changed over the years. I finally settled on pair. Out of all the places I've visited, this was the only place that listened to me and understood my problem. They weren't trying to sell me a shoe, rather a solution and it was worth it to wear that pair out of the store and finally walk on my own without the help of a walking boot. I will definitely be back and will always recommend this store and Nick.

Having something of an outfit coordination obsession, I accumulated so many shoes that my son recently made me purge, deeming my closet a tripping hazard. My huge collection of DSW shoes meticulously, purchased to match outfits & occasions, had been treasured with additions added as required. But having an aged arthritic body I could no longer wear most of them. DSW. you've served me well over the years. You've been there when I required a quick, specific shoe choice. You never failed me. Now it's time for a new generation to fall in love with your extensive inventory.

They kept around a dozen exterior stores and have closed off interior entrances if they had. Plenty of parking, but it was busy on a Friday afternoon. No debris seen on the walk up. They offer a separate spot for just kids which I liked. Unfortunately no assistance was offered which deducts a half star. Checkout was friendly and the purchase was made by credit card. The receipt was placed in the bag. Overall an above average visit. 3.5 rounding down with lack of customer service on the floor.

Though the reviews are minimal, they were pretty detailed and I decided to take the plunge. It wasn't very busy and we were immediately helped by Ethel. Very patient and kind, not pushy in the slightest and knowledgeable. She walked me through the machine that'll take notes of how you put pressure on your feet, and had me run on a treadmill to get a better idea of how my feet land when running. She explained to me what she took notice of and which shoes would be best suited for me and my goals. I tried on three pairs of shoes, and honestly, they were all comfortable. I asked about insoles and she helped me get some as well, but she didn't try to upsell me on those, which I appreciate. She did mention with a purchase of shoes, I could get $5 off a pair of socks, and I'm a sucker for socks, so they got me there haha. So far my shoes are nice. My feet don't seem to ache as bad when I run, but I still need to break them in. I have no complaints at this time, and we'll most surely be back to get my husband a new pair of shoes in the coming months.

Staff were friendly, offering help and assistance, they had the system to monitor your run and pronation to fit you there and had tons of other run accessories and goodies like snacks, socks, clothes and shoes. I especially loved some Brooks special edition Christmas shoes they had. Nice addition to the run spots in the area! Sooo glad packet pick up was local too and I didn't have to drive to Williamsburg for pick up. Woo!!!

Her birthday coming up, so that meant, new kicks, please! We visited this location during the week before 8pm and it's usually super quiet. In which on this night other than my daughter and myself there were only four other patrons in the store. I love it when the store is empty. No pressure in browsing or people in your way... just a beautiful feeling. My daughter found three pair of shoes she liked and they all were available in her size. But when it came to the fourth shoe, her size was not available. The sales associate offered to check other locations to see if her size was available without hesitation... loved it! We spent about 20 minutes in the store and my daughter was pleased with her new shoes. The sales associate was super helpful and attentive. She also was hands on when it came to checking to see if the shoe fit my daughter or if another size was needed. No complaints... Another associated checked us out and asked if everything was ok. A great visit during the week. I'd suggest you visit during the week as well. The weekend can be super hectic throughout anytime of the day. The store is located in the almost empty Chesapeake Square Mall, but they seem to be holding down the fort at the end near Target. So yeah, park near Target instead of the front of the mall. This will be a short walk for you if you park here. Shoes can be a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for and they have a pretty good return policy. They do offer sales from time to time as well. This is actually my preferred location... quiet and low key definitely. Have fun and enjoy life :)
