Now that I've had every single thing on the menu from Great Lakes pizza, I feel like I can give a fair review. That's right! I've had their pizza, subs, wings, chicken fingers, salads, tacos, burgers, quesadillas, sides, and so on. I've even had their lent fish fry. This is the BEST quality pizzeria that I've been to. Everything is fresh and delicious every single time. The staff is great, food is always ready within its quoted time range, and I've even had food delivered and it was on time and still nice and hot! The prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity. A few highlights as far as the food for me, would be their pizza, specifically their dough and sauce (I always get extra sauce because it's that good), but if you're looking for a specialty pizza, I'd recommend the steak Huron. It's like a steak sub, in pizza form! Delicious. Their chicken finger subs are miles better than anywhere else in the area, and I recommend their death sauce if you love spice. Although I have to say, their cold cut subs are better than anywhere else too, the cold cuts are always sliced nice and thin, and they're always piled high. For a cold cut sub, I'd have to recommend the American assorted! Their tacos, don't even get me started. Go with beef, chicken, or chicken finger, you can't go wrong. All amazing, and they're a great size. Salads, again, they're all fantastic! The beef taco salad and the julienne salad are my 2 favorites. It's hard for me to choose what I want to order from here, it really is THAT good! Back again, Once again I was quickly greeted by one of the staff at the desk, and within moments I had my chicken finger pizza (and chicken finger meal/salad//all not pictured). The chicken finger pizza was done perfectly, good size chunks and it was ordered the only way it should be made, with a bleu cheese base. Spot on pizza, also so good my 3 year old had to get in on it. Chicken fingers were of good size and came with a fair amount of fries. ( I don't want to give a crispy rating due to in box sweating). The sub being good saved this rating. The estimated wait time via the online ordering was wrong and I needed to wait another 10 minutes for the pizza slices. I ordered extra meat for steak hoagie. I don't think it had extra meat, but it tasted good. The manager offered to remake the sub, but I was too hungry and wanted to eat. Not to be confused with declaring that Miss Garbo loves this food (Greta Loves Pizza). The service was really nice at Great Lakes, but it just wasn't very good pizza in my picky little book. The slice was dry and not warm at all... it tasted like it had been sitting around all day and was $2.44, which granted is nothing at all, but if it had been heated up to be piping hot (like every place should) perhaps it would have been more pleasing. Employees are nice, GL subs are my go-to for subs and they are the only pizza place that doesn't make insanely sloppy subs. I decided to try their pizza again after not having it in years because I always see people raving about it and I don't think the pizza is anything special and taste just like any other average pizzeria around here. As of today, I've eaten from there twice and ordered from there once. Had I not tried a friend's pizza that they ordered, I never would have known that this pizza joint that I pass all the time actually had good pizza. It's very unassuming in appearance. The time I ordered from them, I only got wings. I called them at about 10 minutes before they were closing and I asked whether it was too late. She told me "no". As long as I was ordering before close, they would get it done for me. That was impressive because many places will stop selling 30-15 minutes before close so they can get out of there. Great Lakes didn't do that. When I got there about 10 minutes after close, they were waiting patiently with a smile; and they had fried my wings lightly, just as I had specified. Great little place to grab a casual bite to eat for lunch! The steak hoagie pizza had a cheddar cheese base that was surprisingly good, I have only ever had a red sauce or garlic oil base under my toppings before. An order of fried mushrooms came out piping hot and with a generous side of ranch for dipping. With two drinks, the total came to about $27, which was a bit steep but at least all food was of high quality. I'll be back to try one of the weekly or lunch specials they have during the week to keep it more frugal. read more

Decided to try a new place out today and went with Great Lakes cuz why the hell not? Anyways, ordered a large cheese and pep with 10 wings for delivery. The woman who took my order was nice as well as the delivery driver and it came pretty quick so that was a plus. However, the pizza was pretty good but nothing special, regular sauce, good crust, decent under carriage but was definitely on the more greasy side compared to others which I didn't really enjoy. Wings were excellent and cooked nice and crisp and not soggy like some other places. If I could give 3.5 stars I would because of the service and the wings. Another thing to note though is their box which states "better pizza, better price" do not find that true considering a large and 10 wings was over $30 after taxes and the pizza wasn't that great. I've been a frequent customer of Great Lakes Pizza for years now starting back when they were still on Harlem Road. The pizza is really great. The crust is fluffy and results in the most satisfying crunch when you get to the end of your slice, the cheese is thick and luscious, and the pepperoni is perfectly crisp. Also I am a huge fan of their chicken finger pizza with the white sauce. There's a ton of chicken finger bits on it and the white sauce (blue cheese) really hits the spot. I know not many people think to get a quesadilla at a pizza place, but GLP has beyond awesome chicken quesadillas. The tortilla is perfectly crisp in a way that I could never replicate at home. Inside the quesadilla is chicken, cheese, and some sort of red sauce. It comes with lettuce, sour cream, and salsa on the side. I like to spread the sour cream on the quesadilla and put lettuce on top. It's the best! None of the other pizzerias I've been to have had quesadillas on the menu. Often I go to GLP just to get a quesadilla. Other quesadillas , whether they be from home or a restaurant, pale in comparison to the quesadillas from Great Lakes. Every time I go to Great Lakes the same guy cashes me out (I'm 99% sure he is the owner) and he is always very nice and cordial. The pizza here is a little on the greasy side. Of course, this is the perfect recipe for a "Pros & Cons" discussion: PRO Greasier pizza is usually indicative of a thicker cheese ratio (score!). Also, the lipid levels in this pie force you to stop shoveling slice after slice down your esophagus, and making it easier to enjoy one or two and not feel like a total fatty. CON You leave the dinner table after eating this pizza feeling like you ingested a toilet flushing or two from a Donald Trump rally. Truth be told, it was a little bit on the uncomfortable end of the greasiness spectrum. I hate to say it, but the cheese pizza was more appetizing than the cheese & pep, and more palatable. So lately I have been ordering exclusively from Great Lakes, specifically for chicken finger subs. Haven't tried the pizza or really anything else, or any other sub.. but, the chicken finger subs are just outstanding. They are text book Buffalo small pizzeria style subs, with the toasted Costanza's sub rolls and oversize fingers, which you get 4 on a whole sub, so alot. Piccaso's might be the ultimate chicken finger sub experience around here (I think), but they're also $15. What you get for like $10 is I'd say about a perfect sub. Pics to come! read more

This is my absolute favorite pizza place in the world, I've been a customer for years, since its beginning when they first opened on Harlem Rd. Everything from the food, to the menu selection, to the service is on point. First, the food. Everything is great quality, always fresh and delicious. My favorite thing to get from here is a sub, and I can't even choose a favorite kind of sub. Chicken finger, stinger, turkey bacon, and tuna are all tied because they're just that incredible. The pizza is great, they have so many different specialty pizzas but my personal favorite is the Steak Huron, and I highly recommend it! I have also ordered wings, chicken fingers, tacos, and snacks and sides from here and they are all just phenomenal. You really can't go wrong with anything you choose from the menu. The menu by the way, is huge and there is something for everyone. Tons of specialty subs and pizzas, if you can imagine it, it's probably already on the menu. The Greek sub is unique and wonderful! I ordered it one year for my birthday and was not disappointed. There are also tons of sides, from fries to nachos to fried pepper jack Mac and cheese bites. I have tried them all and they're all awesome. They have all tacos, quesadillas, burgers, chicken sandwiches, and salads too. And of course, the usual Buffalo pizzeria faire, pizza, wings and the like. Again, all tasty. If you eat in, they also offer beer and wine, and they have bottled, canned, or fountain Pepsi products. The service is just another plus. Everyone is friendly and they are wonderful to their customers. The few RARE times (out of hundreds of visits) that I have had an issue, it was resolved without a problem, and they have even delivered it for free when the problem was their fault. Mistakes happen, we're all human, but they are willing to make it right every time and go the extra mile to make sure you are happy. Any time I've ordered delivery, the food arrived within the quoted time, hot and fresh. I've yet to have a bad experience with the service. Another great thing about Great Lakes Pizza, is that they have really good specials. At the time of writing this review, Monday is any large specialty pizza for $14.99, Tuesday is sub day (buy 2 get 1 free), Wednesday they have a special on large cheese and one topping pizzas, and Thursday is taco day. They also have daily deals and lunch specials. I love a place that saves me money. They also do punch cards for subs and pizza, so after you buy 10 you get a free one. One of our go to South Buffalo/West Seneca pizzerias (we only have a few). Great Lakes cooks up a solid pie, has prices on par with the area, preps/delivers in a timely manner, and offers a good dine in experience. What more could you ask for. Wings and subs are solid as well, but we're a pizza focused bunch. On that note, they offer a good variety of specialty pizzas for those special occasions and hard to please eaters. Living in the area we go back often and you likely will too. They make pizza well. read more

My husband and I were excited to try this place reading all the reviews and brosing their menu. Although they did taste good, we both got food poisoning from the chicken. I know things happen etc etc but as a restaurant, food safety is the utmost importance. Unfortunately, it turned our stomaches so we won't be trying this joint again which is such a shame. This place is a great little shop off the beaten path. I stumbled upon it one time and had to come back to check it out again. They have a good local style pizza that I got the first time and was surprised how cheesy their pizza was. Needless to say, it hit the spot. I came back today to try some other things on the menu, and it turns out their other items are just as good.
