Ace Hardware in Ann Arbor on Maple St has set the bar high. Because of that location, Ace Hardware became my favorite hardware store ever! Aside from having an amazing inventory, their customer service is paramount!
When I moved to Northfield Twnsp, I was very happy to see that there was an Ace in S.Lyon.
Unfortunately, this particular store does not even come close to the Ace in Ann Arbor.
Today for example I had a few things to pick up and there were 3 visible associates working. 2 were talking to each other and one was standing doing nothing. I was greeted but not one person asked if they could help me. They were too busy chatting. Customer service is everything to me (I worked retail myself for 40 yrs and know how important it is) I was looking for a particular paint which I could not find but when I went looking for someone I couldn't find anyone to ask. The store WAS NOT busy. I was the only customer in the store at the time. Frustrated I just gave up. Another customer did enter the store when I went to check out and the cashier was answering a question and said she would be right with me.
When she began to ring me up she asked if I found everything. I said, "no I did not. I one my biggest pet peeves about this store is the lack of customer service". She had no response. No apology just an attitude when I said I received my rewards card but forgot it. I asked if she could look it up since they can always look up my account with my phone number. Her response, "Nope!"
How customer friendly was that?
Wouldn't "I'm so sorry but unfortunately I can't do that, I wish I could" be a little more customer friendly?
Apparently this store could give a damn about great customer service. OThis location gives Ace Hardware a bad name.
I'll be going to Martins from now on where every single employee makes sure every customer who walks into their door gets treated like they are a guest in their home. read more
